Castlevania: Lords of Shadow

Bored at work so decided to find out about the DLC and what it will be, some snippets I found;

"I finished Castlevania: LOS today. I really liked the ending, it makes you curious to see what's next for the franchise. I'm very curious so I want to ask you about the upcoming DLC: Will the upcoming DLC for the game continue from where the game ended?"

To which Cox replied, "Yes it will..." Now the only thing to do is wait for that DLC so you can jump right back into the thick of the action.

Hmm, interesting. Atleast the story is going to come together without the wait for the sequel... well maybe

The first, of what Konami hopes will be many, piece of DLC will expand the game’s already huge storyline. New characters will also be introduced as well as new environments to traverse. That’s all the information we now have, but at least we know DLC isn’t going to be limited to just a combat arena.

ok cool, i guess towards end game you would have amassed enough exp points to pretty much afford all upgrades anyway.... right?

Pretty much - depends if you go back into levels again to do trails or try harder difficulties.

If you play through in one go on normal than expect there to be two super expensive ones left over. :)

I have to say that this is one of the only games where I have actually made a runnsmoke and enjoyed looking at the art gallery. Some stunning stuff in there.

Loved the ending - anyone else notice the dead bosses from other games as Picard floats up the tower? Awesome stuff.

I think the combat in this game would be far more enjoyable with the addition of invincibility frames to some moves and tighter hit detection on enemy attacks. I've been going through on Paladin to mop everything up, and there have been many "Oh come on!" moments due to being killed by attacks that the sudden slow motion clearly shows haven't connected, or by getting snagged on the scenery/other enemies during a roll.

That said, I think I'd be more interested if a sequel held back on the God of War and went for a simpler combat system with whip/combat cross control on the right stick, or at least something that gave it more of its own flavour.

I agree with the invincibility. Last second dodges not only look cool, they're great to pull off on reflex at the last moment.

Not so sure about the right stick thing, mind. It might work given enough testing, but I've never seen a decent combat game use a stick for targetting. Last game that tried was... Too Human? It didn't work so well for that game - it's way too easy to pull off the wrong moves.

I didn't mean targeting so much as actual moves; more Fight Night or Skate than Too Human.

Flick the stick towards an enemy for a basic whip, quarter circles for sweeping attacks, hold away then flick forward for a guard breaker, et cetera. I'm not suggesting it would be a system to plonk on top of the existing combat engine, just something that plays up what is a fairly unique weapon with an appropriately different method of control. Take the focus off myriad combos most people won't use and instead hone in on a smaller selection of divergent, situational attacks that can be strung together.

Anyway, it's not really something I'd expect MercurySteam to actually entertain, just idle fancy.

Over half way through this now and absolutely loving it. Epic, beautiful, fantastic combat and you really do feel like you are going on a long, incredibly journey. After the disappointment of playing Enslaved this is kicking my ass and I'm loving it :D

Quick question about the upgrades

There's a big fuck off 25,000 point one called Ultimate Light, or something like that. Does it do much damange/worth saving up for ? Like the look of it
