Castlevania: Lords of Shadow

That's chapter 1 110%'d. Only another 11 to go! Also, in a moment of impulse, I bought Symphony of the Night to get another Castlevania fix. Wish I hadn't, it's pump :P

Moment of impulse, to buy the greatest game in the series? At this point, only the valid reasons involving small bugs and compressed audio can save you. Are you really saying SOTN is bad? Really? <_<

That would be Super Castlevania IV, not SOTN.

They're a close run thing, but I'd have to give it to SOTN. You've been watching AVGN haven't you..

Funnily enough I have yeah  I do love SCIV, been a looooooong time since I've replayed it though, many years. First of all though I should really finish Lords Of Shadow....

Finished.

Final form of the final boss (The bit with the Venn diagram overlapping circles) nearly drove me nuts.

The epilogue got a massive WTF!? from me.

Overall it was good, bit of a weak start, excellent middle, then over stayed it's welcome. Probably worth playing for the pretty graphics and epic set pieces alone. But eye candy aside it was painfully derivative, funny how Darksiders got shit for copying loads of games (including GoW and Portal just like this) but everyone is happy to forgive it here.

I'm in a thread where someone is claiming SOTN is crap. Oh god I feel dirty. Time to bail.

Hey it's fair enough though, if you never played SotN back in the day it's hard to look past it's oldschoolness to see the gaming deliciousness buried within. Sgt Squid: persevere! It's an ace game once you get into it and understand how it works :)

...and Super IV is still The Best. I replay it once in a while, fantasic game even after all this time.. The sense of adventure (soaked in nostalgia fo me too as it was one of the first console games I owned) is incredible. Epic ost too

Finished it finally, last boss was quite easy, considering what people have said in here. Really was a great game overall, and a nice change to the original Castlevania series.

On the subject of the ending, there will be dlc for this apparently, dunno if its been mentioned in this thread already. No news on dates etc, other than it will continue straight after the ending. So hopefully will clear up some of the loose ends it left us with.

I know people have been raving about chapter 8 and the ending, but I'm a slow poke and have only just got through chapter 3. That was a really great fight and the way the chapter ends...

flying on the back of a giant golden eagle

Well it just had me grinning from ear to ear :D

Erm, wow, just wow. Fanatasic , fantastic game. It just kept building to that epic finale, it didn't let up. I think this has to be some of the best artistic work we have seen this generation. Not so much the characters which I think do need to be worked on just the environment you play in. Some fine craftsmanship for a small company in Spain that puts some established companies to shame. I think it's unfair to say the last third was below par, sure the middle was the best section but my mind is filled with images I won't be forgetting in a while. Particular moment stands out is when

your fighting the dragon and he rises up from below and Gabriel is waiting to strike  Makes me wish for a new Panzer dragoon all the more

The heart right now says give it a 10 but my head is saying 8 due to them taking it's main ideas from other games. If they can continue with their environmental work and start to find their own identity in terms of gameplay, I think I will be looking at my perfect game

Game ending spoilers

I loved that Gabriel is now Dracula. I had a hunch he would be the new god. The final shots, not so much. The modern setting, really hope they don't go for that in the next outing. I can't see that helping their artwork and we annoy the Castlevania fans to no end. Maybe we will see a new character introduced to finish Gabriel once and for good, one set in the past, one set in the present.

I'm even tempted to get the limited edition now  Really hopes it drops in price quickly

Game of the year so far is between this and Heavy Rain, no question

It's odd. I can see the flaws. I know it isn't a brilliant game...but I love it. It may even be my GOTY (ME2 is the other contender atm).

My head knows it's (many) flaws...but the entire thing is just too enjoyable.

Is the OST available?

Finished this last night - brilliant fun from start to finish, really enjoyed that :)

Snake Eye and HeadBand! Mega :)

Trying to do some of the challenges now as well - I never normally bother with this sort of thing but there is something about Castlevania...

Is the OST available?

Yes, from the usual places gar! ;)

Just started playing this on Sunday. it's lovely. I don't play my PS3 much (only have 4 games after 2 years ownership  ) but after watching the trailer I knew this was one i could not miss.

Nearing the end of Chapter 2 now and it's a great game. Love the production levels of this and the music is wonderful playing through my home cinema set up. I do find it tricky in parts but i can't put the thing down atm!

I'm really tempted to pick it up as well, the soundtrack is superb but the Art Book is what i want it for.

I'm kicking myself now as i thought the 'artwork' would be generic 3D screens of the characters not the ridiculously gorgeous 2D art, so gave picking the LTD Edition up a miss

Had a few bugs last night as in enemies not spawning in areas to enable progress (the doors you have to smash down) and one lever failed to fit in its socket.

Had to restart the stage to fix a few times.

Had the enemy thing happen on Titans Graveyard. Made it my least liked level as a result. Other than that not had any problems with the game, and enjoyed it immensely. Really looking forward to the dlc.
