Castlevania: Lords of Shadow

Hideo Kojima is involved in some kind of vague guidance role.

"Transylvania, two years ago. We had classified intelligence that a new type of Castlevania was scheduled for construction. The whole thing stank but our noses had been in the cold for too long..."

"Belmont, that's a vial of HOLY WATER."

"Holy Water?"

"Yeah. You can use that to destroy enemies by throwing it at them. You can also drink it if you're feeling thirsty!

"Right, got it.

"ALUCARD! That ninja was Alucard!"

"..."

The only thing I'm hoping is that they keep the drops from the Metroidvania games - I'd love it if there were looooooads of weapons and armour and junk for no good reason other than to sate my collectables OCD.

It would be great if they managed to keep the whole exploration/gradual ability power-up aspect of the series since SoTN without being just a series of identikit corridors like in the PS2 games. I'd much prefer it to go this route than end up being another mediocre Devil May Cry clone.

Now imagine Robert Carlyle as Snake, and Patrick Stewart as Campbell. The quality will oose off the screen.

This is by the developer that did Severance: Blade of Darkness. The mask in the trailer looks very similar to the one on the loading screen of that game. I wonder if they had a sequel in the works that Konami have swooped in and slapped the Castlevania name on. Or maybe they just like drawing masks.

Either way, this has the potential to be awesome.

I enjoyed it too. In the same way I enjoy stabbing myself in the eyes.

It was weird, sometimes even though you know a game is a bit shit, but you still enjoy it.

That was Curse of Darkness for me.

Enjoyable shit.

A bit like the day after a massive roast dinner

To be fair it's time to give it another chance IMO

And I enjoyed Castlevania: Curse of Darkness

I agree with this. I think there has been a long enough gap for the 3D games, so they deserve to make a great Castlevania game. Of course if it fails, they will be straight back to 2D but I have high hopes for this new one. It does look awesome already. :(

Gamescon Extended Trailer - CAM

Can someone please, please, please, teach Kojima the concept of an ending. Or just smack him in the head a few times.

Christ, that's the umpteenth game-trailer he has wrecked (ZOE and MGS being previous trailer-casualties). The guy is just plain horrid when it comes to pacing.

Despite that, I'm looking forward to this. As long as it doesn't feature 10 minute cutscenes (though the trailer in itself doesn't bode well).
