Hold the melee button down while behind them.

One thing that I would like to be confirmed - the radar; when a dot is a dark color, does that mean its below or above you? Same with a brighter color dot.

I think it's darker below, brighter above. I'm still trying to figure it out myself.

Yeah, I have no idea where people are on the levels due to this. Would be nice if someone in the know could tell us.

Yeah, but there seems to be a state where the dot is bright but appears to have a shadow... maybe that's above, with solid red dot being the same level and the darker dot meaning below.

Anyway, what was that dude doing when he was using the camo ability earlier?

When you use camo theres loads of dots on the radar. Its a great way of knowing theres a guy being sneaky nearby. I dont know if it shows all those dots when standing completely still or not though.

Perhaps a matter of taste but I think it looks better. Perhaps familiarity and contempt, but it looks less jaggy to me at least.

Well, I've been playing through Halo 3 lately, and I think it looks bloody marvellous in places on my set-up. It might have lower textures in places, but it's got the best particle effects ever to grace a video game.

I did a few of those fancy assassinations while playing last night. I really hope they take that shit out of the final game. Not only does it waste precious seconds whereby other enemies are closing on you, it's just fucking pointless. Are you invincible while doing them or not? Because I was putting rounds into some fucker doing one last night, and it seemed to have little effect.

I can't be the only one hoping they do away with them, surely?

Just positioning himself in places where other people on his team would be but in places that our team wouldn't want to hang about (like the flag room and surrounding areas). This meant that the jammer wasn't so much of an indicator of his position, because you expected them to be there. On top of that he was crouching while invisible in places that you would look past en route to the flag.

He got quite a lot of people by just popping out from nowhere as people were about to make a grab for the flag and did it from a number of different places too.

Great!

It looks jaggy on my screen and Reach doesn't, comparatively.

Dunno man, it's basically just to rub people's noses in it, it's not a serious thing. I've got a kick out of performing an assassination on someone foolishly camping the same spot.

I don't think you are, I seem to remember some Bungie staff talking about being able to save people. The animation isn't locked either. If you see someone doing one, you can just melee the guy being assassinated and steal the kill :o

Also, Oddball. Who the FUCK actually wants to play that mode?

Oddball is a brilliant team game. It is shit FFA, and if your team has no idea what they are doing. But proper 4v4 oddball is awesome.

Yeah I had an awesome game of 4 v 4 oddball earlier. I have been having a lot of fun with the armour lock. A team I was playing against got so pissed with it, that 3 of them changed to it. So when I engaged it, they all did. I died but it was fucking funny.

Yeah, I guess I was just a shit shot and/or it was a bit laggy (as you'd expect an hour after the beta opened up). I suppose I'll just avoid using them, and nail the suckers that do :P

Yeah I suppose. I've suffered a few FFA games of it so far.

You could just not use them and take advantage of people that do?

Will this work with a Free Live Trial or do I actually need a proper gold membership?

I imagine (hope) you need Gold. It's only £40 for the year.

EDIT - Sorry, I misread. A Gold Trial should work fine.

I haven't seen a sniper rifle on either map yet but am sure i've been shot with one, where are they?

On swordbase down on the ground floor at the bottom of the pillars in the central area.

On powerhouse(?) there isn't a human one but there's the covenant focus rifle just outside the base under the generators.

The one on Swordbase is at one of the far ends of the ground floor, just past the grav lift. I think you might confuse him by saying 'central area'.

Isn't the purpose of an assassination to insta-kill someone? Even with shields on? Otherwise it's pretty useless then.

I do get a kick out of assassinating others when I have the chance though. Makes the kill feel extra special. :o
