mr_woo
So, since the update has the lag on 360 been eradicated or is it still pretty bad? I don't think there's even been a second update, just the one on day one. I've certainly never received another update after that one. I think they did a few playlist modifications on their end by changing the standard playlist to 4vs4 until they sort out the problems. The lag can still be as awful as ever unfortunately. The PC got updates very quickly due to Steam etc but we'll have to wait for another title update for anything serious on the 360.
Epcotman
Ah shame. Good reason to hold off for the inevitable price drop, though. Let's hope they find a proper fix for it.

Yeah as much as I love the game hold off until they fix everything and even hopefully add lobbies. I say this as a huuuuuuge fan. Really enjoyed the games tonight with Rex, Karzee and HeyMykie. Even having 4 or 5 players against bots is a ton of fun but even better against humans.

Dave White
Once this clicks and you play with a decent team this is fantastic fun. Investing in the console version and playing private matches works without any problems as long as the host has a decent connection. it offers the same experience and you would never know. Such a slow burner but what a hook it has

HeyMykie
16 hours played and level 20 and whilst the actual gameplay is great, the maps are soo fucking unbalanced it's unreal. I think the ONLY balanced map in the whole game is Aquarium (the one you blow a door then escort the guy, think it's that map). Playing with two even skilled teams is basically pointless for the attacking side on every other map. Yeah it's easy to stomp random pubs but as a competitive game this is dead unless they release an editor so the community can "fix" things like spawn times/hack times etc. I think a good comparison is that every map feels like you are running Dustbowl stage 3 as the blu side over and over, except not quite as frustrating Fucking love the game though, the best FPS MP I've played in years. Dude the maps really aren't. I can level with you and say that there are some DEVILISH choke point's, but it's nothing too too bad. Mr Woo, Karzee, Pimp Rex, and I have been doing work on the opposing teams the past couple of nights!!!! It's all about communication and coordination. Even when it's just me an Karzee having that one line of communication is so important. There were so many AHH! moments last night it was great. There was one time on Aquarium were a guy LITERALLY on the last second put the bomb on the door and forced us into overtime. It was so tense because no one got to it till about ten seconds left on the clock. Yesterday before the group of us played, Karz and I had played 2 early games without voice chat. The first game we played on we won, but on the second one we just couldn't seem to pull it together. I told him later that I had a plan but sticking in my mic and inviting to party would take too long. Nothing came together that round and we just kept on dying until we failed. Later on when the other 2 mukkers came on we were doing great and having tons of fun. We ended up with a consistent group of randoms who were playing great as well. No map had a chance! Most maps have shortcuts that can be opened and destroyed. And they are such a big help. I didn't realize until last night how important it is managing those shortcuts. Another example on Container City, were you have to Escort the Bot after blowing up the first huge barricade. We were playing Resistance and we had to defend. It's VERY easy for the other side to blow up the door so that happened quickly but once they did. THEY GOT MERCKED!!!!!!!!!!!! over and over again. We had about 4 turrets, mines placed everywhere, and a sniper helping out. About halfway through they hacked the side entrance and tried to flank us but it actually made it worst for them. As a united front coordinating that one attack at the barrier, there were some points were they almost got us, but as soon as there forces were divided and 2-3 people were trying to take the shortcut it was over. The short cut had a turret protecting it and mines as well. We were eventually able to push them to the point of their spawn point. Because of that experience, at least on the teams I've been on no one has EVER gone for that shortcut again. Another Example (sorry the game is great!) I think is on the second part Shipyard, where you have to hack the missile console. The first time we played as Security we ended up beating it but because we were a good team. But we made so many mistakes. No one brought up the crane shortcut in time so we got killed for some time at one of the main choke points. After we ended up opening the cane shortcut no one PROTECTED it so the enemy managed to put mines on the crane shortcut killing at least two of us (which was funny hearing Karz scream "AHH, Bastards put mines on the Crane!", and then proceeded to lower it. We were fucked for quite some time. After we realized it, we coordinated our efforts to take the shortcut back. We left a turret and mine on the crane console to keep it safe and proceeded to win the map with seconds to spare. A true AHH! moment that was. Admittedly I think the first couple of days the matchmaking put us on the Resistance side alot which "seems" easier, but yesterday almost exclusively we were playing as Security. It felt harder at first but after 2 maps we were back in our regular groove. GET IT ON 360 AND JOIN US DUDE! PS I think the EASIEST map is Aquarium. We've definitely beat that one under 2 minutes multiple times. The long corridors where most of the time the opposition is coming from one general direction makes it hella easy...on both sides...with a good team.

macosx
Played a load of great of coop with six or seven players; all were lag free last night. Has this settled down now?
fattakin
Strangely there hasnt ever really been a lag problem on co-op - Ive played in 2 7man games with rllmuk ones and never had lag, its only the minute you go straight MP that there is a problem - even with only 3 human players. Was offline a few days so have accepted friend requests to the tag. See you on the ark tonight. Any patch news for 360?
Karzee
Had at least 15 lag-free multiplayer games yesterday (360 version), player numbers varied between 2-3 and 6-7 with bots added making them up to 8-8. A couple of other games I did quit out of immediately because of lag but you're always going to get a few playing peer-to-peer games. Too early to say I guess but my feelings yesterday were that it was a big improvement.
HeyMykie
What's probably happening is that you are getting good hosts, or you yourself are the host. The game we played yesterday were all fine, thank god. The teams were just bad

dvdx2
can someone give me a very brief overview of the mechanics - the 'buffing' what does this cost you gave it a rattle last night and it looks pretty good, although tough to get into
Karzee
You have a constantly rising (albeit slowly) 'energy' bar that you use up by doing stuff like buffing, planting turrets, throwing grenades, healing, replenishing ammo etc. Doing one of these actions costs you one pip bar of energy. Is that what you mean? There is a learning curve but it doesn't take long. I recommend doing the challenges first to unlock the gun attachments (you only need to do up to level 2 for each one because Level 3 just puts your score on the Leaderboard. ilpostino
It is endlessly entertaining making some hideous freak person. Something of note is that some of the customisation options are permanant: tattoos, scars, skin tone, face archetype, and voice. mr_woo
Brink Updates: http://www.splashdamage.com/content/brink-update-updates An Update on Brink UpdatesJust wanted to give everyone an update on where we’re currently at with our upcoming game updates for Brink. Xbox 360 We’ve been hard at work investigating the lag issues some players of the Xbox 360 version of Brink have reported. We’ve now completed modifications to improve network performance and will be rolling these out in a title update for the game. This update has been submitted to Microsoft, and we expect it to be available next week. This title update is also going to fix an isolated freezing issue reported by some German players who should no longer experience that problem once the update has been installed. PC A game update for the PC version of Brink is in final testing and we’re planning to release it early next week. This update contains a host of fixes and improvements including the following: We’ve identified the cause of sound dropping out on certain maps when playing networked games for a prolonged amount of time. This will no longer occur. Graphical performance has been improved, especially when using Ambient Occlusion. We’ve worked closely with both AMD and NVIDIA, and you should see performance and stability improvements in future driver revisions from both parties. The server browser is tweaked in this update, as well; among other things, a new filter allows you to display only servers with a certain number of players on them, and full servers will no longer be filtered out completely. There are some smaller fixes for minor issues including your character’s voice occasionally resetting when deleting another character, and a memory leak when alt-tabbing out of the game. Finally, the dedicated server is set to get an update at the same time as the main game, which will result in improved CPU performance. We’ve protected certain cvars that previously allowed server admins to accidentally break objectives involving NPCs. The full changelog will be released alongside the update, so keep an eye out for that. PlayStation 3 With PSN back online, we’re able to resume multiplayer testing on the PlayStation 3. We’re preparing to bring the changes in the upcoming Xbox 360 title update to the PlayStation 3 version of Brink quickly and we expect to have it out next week. Stay tuned! In the Meantime... Until these updates roll out, here's what you can do to improve your multiplayer experience should you still encounter problems: Check your opponent's network connection / ping: Players with very low bandwidth connections can have a negative impact on the overall network performance of the game. You are able to view other player's connection quality easily by viewing the scoreboard and determining if this is the likely cause. To view other player's connection quality, press Start during a match and select the Scoreboard option to display all other players Other Human player bandwidth values are shown on the right hand side of their name as a traffic light value. Anyone that is showing orange or red means they have a bad connection and could potentially be causing the match to become disrupted... Note: You can also view the opposing team scoreboard since the problem may be with a player on the opposite team. To do this press R1 for PS3 or RB for XBOX 360 while on the scoreboard. Should you see more players showing RED than GREEN on their status, you should exit this game, return to the main menu and attempt to join another game on a new connection. The matchmaking system will then attempt to place you in a more suitable game Finally, if you have the German Xbox 360 version of Brink and are experiencing freezing issues, you can use the following workaround until the title update is released: Turn the Dialogue Volume down completely. You can do this from the main menu or by pressing Start during a match and selecting: Optionen > Audio > Lautstärke der Dialoge Move the dialogue volume slider all the way to the left That's it for this blog update. More will be coming your way, and in the meantime, we'll see you online! -The teams at Splash Damage and Bethesda Softworks
Karzee
Excellent news. I've been playing this all week and loving it. Haven't enjoyed a team multiplayer shooter like this since Return to Castle Wolfenstein on my old Xbox.
