Co-op removes immersion from single player stuff. Imagine how less scary Dead Space would be co-op. As crap as I thought the CoD4 campaign was with it's respawning and corridors (something this looks like it may improve on, finally), it was at least dripping with atmosphere. Playing alongside someone I can imagine we'd have spent the whole time moaning about the respawning whilst playing on a higher difficulty level instead of just waltzing through along it on a lower difficulty like it's meant to be played, actually enjoying it.

They've made the mini-missions co-op and the endless hours we'll spend on multiplayer are a co-op experience. The one player will be a solid 10 hour action film with a strong narrative. Co-op seems inappropriate to me. The fact it's there for the mini-missions but not the campaign tells me it's a design decision.

This. I think not putting co-op in the single player was the intelligent thing to do. It's alright in WaW, but I love the immersion of the single player CoD games. The atmosphere and the feeling of being part of a unit. Having a friend in my ear I could crack jokes with and take the piss out of, would, for me, ruin it. They know people want co-op and so have addressed it in another section of the game. This is a wise move and shows a bit of restraint for the good of the game. Also, I assume the SP is going to be a long narrative, co-op drop in and out would break that immersion. Having small, tight missions on co-op is a stroke of brilliance.

As much as I love co-op in general, gotta agree with this.

It's got the SAS in it. Sold.
I didn't see that stated anywhere in the article. Apart from Mctavish being involved as a npc...

No play as SAS/SBS, no buy game for me! :)

Can anyone confirm or deny the pressence of playing as the SAS?

I am so fucking excited by this :)

And why does the topic still say Call Of Duty 4? 'Modern Warfare 2'. Nothing else ;)

My list doesn't really extend that far. I want them to concentrate on getting the basics right before buggering around with everything else, primarily...

Don't make the MP playlists per mode stupidly retarded like Treyarch did. They had something like only 4 maps available for Free-for-all mode, whereas the previous game had all maps. I want to play ALL MAPS across ALL MODES please. Thank you

and...

For the PS3 version, a "mute all" button for voicechat please. I don't want to hear peoples music pumped out through my system, and I have never been, to my knowledge, a bitch-punk-ass-nigga, whatever one of those is. Thanks

Hohboy this is the big one. This is going to break all sales records :)

What are the sales figures for GTA IV and MW?

Because as great as MW is, I don't think it has the (so) widespread appeal of GTA IV.

I could be wrong, I'm genuinely intrigued...

Cool. Let's just hope they actually support MP properly this time.

This:

Online mode will use a "Live-Patching" system, where IW can manipulate spawn logic or certain parts of a multiplayer map without doing a full-blown patch.

pretty much confirms they will, and presumably will allow them to get around the lengthy MS patching process, which should mean the game can be updated - or fixed - more easily. Or alternatively it could mean they release the thing unfinished, which seems more and more common these days, even with console games.

It really is crap how they haven't addressed the autofire and hip-sniping exploits in CoD4, hopefully this will mean that kind of thing is fixed should it happen. The recent patch doesn't seem to have done anything, incidentally.

I was talking about the autofire exploit the other night. All you'd need is a few lines of code making the gun lock up should it fire at the same (impossibly fast) rate for a few shots. And then the player kicked. And then anthrax sent to their house. And their house burned down.

Yeah hopefully they will be more diligent with the patching this time round. I think it is pretty safe to assume that there will be a few mp map packs, owing to the huge success of the WaW packs. Also I assume the 'Mile-High Club' missions will get extra levels, akin to the zombie mode.

The fact that there's still dropouts and shit with COD4 pisses me off massively. I'll be on a map loading screen for 30+ seconds, knowing full well it's timed me out, yet I have to sit and wait for it to decide what to do.

And when the host leaves it can't handle passing it on to someone else.

And when you vote to skip a map, and then leave before the game starts. You clearly don't want to play that map. Yet 80% of the time it'll put you right back in there.

And the Intermissions. JUST START THE GAME FOR FUCK SAKE. WE HAVE ENOUGH PLAYERS, WHY ARE WE WAITING ANOTHER 18 SECONDS? WE'VE ALREADY SAT HERE FOR 30.

The cunts that cheat and use that auto fire bollocks should be banned for 3 months, and then when they're allowed back, they can fire nothing but blanks for another 3 months. Fuck them.

Unless they play for 24 hours in game time as a huge target, you get 100xp for shooting. That would be brilliant.

That works for me. A huge fucking target with 'CHEATING CUNT' above their head.

Soap being in it means SAS in some capacity.

I was thinking this, but in the scans they say Soap is part of the International Elite Task Force 141. So i imagine it's a merged group akin to the final levels of MW. But that is not to say there wont be flashbacks or solo SAS missions.

Yeah but I want to be able to play as the sas. I'm worried that because of the games popularity in the states all the missions will be US centric..

A massive part of the reason I played and enojyed MW was because they so so nailed the sas. Playing as some shitty seal or similar just won't be the same.

Don't let me down IW!!

just "Modern Warfare 2" sounds cooler though

In fact they could have dropped CoD from the first game.

Anyways, I hope there another rap over the credits of this one.

No one is going to be calling it that though. The COD name is too strong!!

vehicles! Meh! :)

I thought this, till I realised there where vehicles in the 4. The AC and the truck. IW have the capacity to pull it of well and with style. I just really hope they see the light and don't put them in the MP.

They actively removed them from 3 for 4, so I hope that means that they realise there is no place for them in CoD MP.

I guess, although 3 was a whole different kettle of fish and not IW. Tbh I don't think IW would be that stupid. They know why CoD sold so much and has been so critically acclaimed. I doubt they would fuck up what they have been building all these years. The disassociation with Treyarchs games suggests this also.
