Modern Warfare 2

Beg to differ. I've been playing a mix of MW2 and BF2BC2 for the past 2 weeks. Prior to Christmas I was all over BlackOps like a bad suit. MW2 I normally play barebones FF/TDM the point being no kill streaks and it still pisses all over BlackOps. BlackOps just feels like a hooky copy of something good. Just the environments and attention to detail in MW2 do it for me.

BlackOps is not bad in its own right but there is something about it that just makes it really dull for me.

Don't get me wrong, I wasn't hating on Modern Warfare 2 - I've played 17 days and 6 hours, so it must have something going for it. The SPAS-12, SCAR-H, TAR-21 and M16 are glorious

All I was saying is that I prefer gunplay over explosives and that MW2 has much more of the latter due to the game design. I would certainly be all over the Barebones Pro playlist if there was a regular 6v6 TDM option, because 4v4 TDM is a bit dull, and whilst I quite like free-for-all, I usually play with friends and they aren't bothered about FFA. I had a regular FFA on Scrapyard last night and managed to come second using the SCAR and SPAS-12 :D There was at least one 360 no-hoper in there who must have got the SPAS-12 to the face at least four or five times whilst spinning around and around. The matches I've played have still had a decent amount of noob-tubing going on, although at least they haven't been of the OMA variety.

There's definitely something more immediate in the hit-registration in MW2 than Black Ops. I wonder if hit-detection is performed differently in Black Ops, or if the hit-boxes are smaller than the actual characters. A poor connection on Black Ops certainly seemed more rough than the equivalent in MW2 yesterday when I played them one after the other. As much as I like Black Ops, the connections are a lottery at the moment - you can get great connection after great connection, and then have hours of WTF moments. It's a real shame IW didn't do more comprehensive Bare Bones playlists.

I have a fools hope that Activision are going to be forced to put out an update that improves the security on the PS3 version. Imagine if, while they were doing it, they removed Commando, One Man Army and death streaks. Just... imagine it.

Thanks for joining in yesterday Phil, shame the party disbanded so quickly after you arrived. We'd been on for a good while already though! I'll clear out some friends list space and send you an FR this evening. If you ever feel like playing and i'm on just message me. :)

Phil was cleaning up on the other team when he joined during Sub-Base, but the rest of his team were dire though. Most of em' ended up running into the Server Room on the Ground Floor getting SPAS'd for the lols.

Will be around for some more games during the week if anybody is on.

Cool - thanks for the invite. I enjoyed those games, it was the first time I've played Demolition. The MW2 Barebones experience is very good indeed, I guess I should have given objective games more time before, but the lure of TDM always sucks me in!

Oh man, they were awful. I was running the flanks picking people off with the SCAR and they were just rushing around like fools. You were on fire! I camped the stairwell when you got that AC130 and sniped people across the way :D

Fool's hope indeed.

Are the prices for the DLC ever likely to drop? Which is the better one? I'm thinking the one with Strike on, purely because it's my favourite ever CoD map.

Sold Black Ops and stuck this on with a headset I've bought, really enjoying it. I've become a dab hand with the SPAS too, such a fun weapon. The risk/reward in taking the extra split second to make sure your shot hits is such a rush when you see poorly-aimed bullets flying past your ears.

They weren't even in the recent sale when all of Activision's XBL content was reduced. They were available for 600 points a go for a week a few months ago but I doubt they'll ever really come down. Neither pack is essential. imo, even though I can tolerate all the maps. If you only buy one you'll have a greatly reduced pool of people to play against, it's best to get both or none I think.

The second one. It had 2 of my favourite MW2 levels in it: Trailer Park and Carnival.

I'd been thinking about this since Timmo asked yesterday and I have to agree about the second pack. Vacant and Strike transition well into MW2 and Trailer Park is a SPAS-12 frenzy. However I'm not bothered about Carnival and Fuel.

The first pack has the better 'new' maps (Salvage and Storm) but Bailout is a bit linear and I don't think Crash and Overgrown are that great . Maybe I think that because they've been around since the CoD4 beta and because Commando allows people to leap off the 3 storey building on Crash and survive

First map pack FTW! Storm is one of my fave cod maps ever, salvage I like to and bailout is decent.

I hate Carnival on the second map pack cause I always get raped on it, it's to colourful for my eyes and everyone hides. Fuels average, trailer park is fun though.

I only play the game once in a blue moon and only reached 70 recently lol, No point in prestige for me I like to keep my weapons.

This game is entirely overrun with noobs now. Me and my two friends are the ones with 20 kills each, managing to get the win despite the ineptitude of the other three. It was the same in every round all night.

Oh, and I got a 6-man Stealth Bomber on Afghan TDM. Feels good, man.

I've just started playing this again and was on yesterday..... half expected to see my name on that screenshot!

Seems to be about the same level as when I last played, which is probably about 6 months ago. Had forgotten how much I enjoy this game (and how bad I am at it!)

I don't know how long I gave BLOPS before returning to this. Two or three weeks maybe, but I've had no desire to go back to Black Ops since returning to this. It just never ever gets old in FFA. I've been experimenting recently with different set ups. I'll use a different one for every game and it absolutely doesn't matter. All the talk of which loadout gives an unfair advantage is rubbish (In FFA!). You can absolutely win with any weapon and adapting how you play to suit.

There's a huge community of shit hot players in the FFA arena and it's just the most perfect FPS fun/competition there is. Never two games the same and a million ways to win. Fucking love it.
