Modern Warfare 2

Nah, I actually got better while I was away for Christmas. I slowed down and stopped running right into the whole enemy team over and over. Now I'm within spitting distance of closing the gap to 1.0 kill ratio, despite the fact I never really get kill streak rewards like proper players.

I've closed mine up to 0.99 now (only been playing since just before the New Year). When I was struggling for killstreaks I put on Hardline with care package, Predator and Harrier as my rewards. It helped a lot and I've now switched up to Pred-Harrier-Pave Low on a non-Hardline class. I also stopped running straight into the enemy, which helped.

How can I join games that other people are playing? I got an invite to a RLLMUK party, which I managed to accidently quit out of, but couldn't to join up again.

Sometimes the join game option is there in the profile, sometimes it isn't.

It's not there if the lobby is full. Send me a friends request if you like. There's a bunch of us play every night. Just message one of us if the "Join session in progress" isn't available and we'll get you in if poss.

Came in at 8am off nightshift the other day and fired up the 360. Played Karachi (Merc TD) as a sniper (Barrett) and ended up with 27 kills and 1 death (4 assists) with 2 Attack Helicopters and 2 Pave Lows. Seemed like the SEALS were just totally ignoring me, it was like shooting fish in a barrel. Only just stated using the Barrett (coming from the Intervention) and its pretty much all one shot kills with 40% being head shots. The only reason I died in game was due to the Barrett running dry and then my Raffica was in the middle of a reload and I got twatted by a 203 round. ARSE! Pretty much spawned me right in the same area and I was back up in the same spot taking scalps. Ended up netting 20,000 xp :D

Marathon Pro

Cold Blooded

Last Stand Pro

Martyrdom

Predator Missile

Attack Helicopter

Pave Low

So pretty nuts since I went to work at 10pm. Of course I played later that night after a sleep and I was fucking awful. :omg:

I've got a set of the Turtlebeach X41s and I have to admit, i tend to play better with them on than using my surround sound. It is so easy to hear when someone is running round a corner, and alot of the time you can hear exactly where people are coming from.

I know this isn't really the topic for it, but how are those 'phones in other regards? I've been looking to get a 5.1 headset with integrated voice as my current pair always drown out what people are saying; turning down the game volume works, but it's a pain to do all the time and some games don't even let you.

I'd like to know the same thing, but for the Harriers.

use your right stick to change the angle they fly in at, and then put the thing where you want the airstrike to land/harriers to hover - i didn't realise you could change the direction bombers came in at until i saw my mate do it - after all this time!!

I find it way too sensitive when I'm trying to position the thing, which normally leads me to spunk the payload on a picnic table 5ks from the action. :omg:

Even for the Harriers? They've got no arrow on them. If so then that would help a lot. It would save me positioning them mainly for the gun kills. Also, where do the bombs land in relation to the circle? Is it the start point or what?

Jesus this is arse on PC, matchmaking is all over the place. I know for a fact my NAT is fine but the amount of times getting could not connect to host is piss poor. How you lot play with the latency is beyond me, the only time I actually feel like I've shot someone legitimately is when they sit still.

Trying to figure out which Sniper Rifle to use. I have been playing about with the WA2000 a bit. I think it has to be the best rifle to use without stopping power or a silencer. It will one shot to the head or chest like the barrett intervention ( 70*1.5=105 [kill] ) and its lack of recoil compared to the barrett or intervention makes getting a second shot off when you dont get the kill so much easier.

Unsilenced with Stopping Power wont affect the WA2000, the modifiers wont change anything that doesnt kill into a kill. Its pointless taking unless you want Stopping Power for your secondary. Cold Blooded is probably a better perk to take.

Unsilenced with Stopping Power will turn a gut shot into a kill with the Barrett and Intervention ( 70*1.4*1.1=107.8 [kill] )

Silenced with Stopping Power is the same as unsilenced without Stopping Power (silencer drops the damage down to 50 per bullet. stopping power increases damage by 1.4, and 50*1.4=70) so its probably better to go with the WA2000 again. That extra second shot makes a huge difference.

Silenced without Stopping Power means its impossible to get a one shot kill unless you are shooting somebody who has taken damage from elsewhere. I guess this means lack of recoil and rate of fire are the important things. I havent got the M21 EBR yet, but I assume that is its strongest point.

Obviously there is also the "feel" of every gun, you take what you like the best. Just trying to figure out the differences between them on paper and what should be optimal perks to take with each one.

What sniper setups do you guys use?

I don't know, I've got a lot of respect for people who play as snipers...whenever I've tried it, I feel so exposed it's just terrifying.

Yeah, me too. My hatred of them gets in the way of the respect though. There is no-one I take more joy in killing than a sniper. The pussies.

I especially love strolling up behind them and stabbing them in the arse. It's a rare treat for me though, being a blundering idiot who can't walk 5 yards without getting my skull pan opened :D

I think the WA2000 with silencer, Sleight Of Hand, SP and Steady Aim is going to be my sniper set-up of choice. I can't be doing with big recoil, because I'm often too cack handed to land the first shot. That setup gives you a one hit kill when you get the time to line up a sweet head/torso shot, and the quick-fire/low recoil nature of the rifle means it's good for sniping on the run. So it's quite versatile. The small clip of the WA2000 can be a problem, but Sleight Of Hand negates that to large extent, plus there's the obvious benefit of being able to bring up the scope quicker.

If a UAV goes up, I just get the SPAS out and go on the rampage.

Jesus, the F2000 is a shit, shit gun. If it wasn't for the fact that I'm a XP whore I'd leave it well alone. in an unrelated note, I got the star player and omnicide challenges in the same match though, I think the spirit of a good player may have taken over my body for ten minutes or something.

I found that it is no different from any other gun in the game. Once you get used to recoil, rate of fire etc and adjust your style accordingly it's just as effective as anything else. People die so quickly I'm convinced that it doesn't really matter what gun you are using.

I've been switching between the scar and famas the last few days, but that's definitely bad for my game. Stayed with the scar, played a bit of FFA and now I'm back to +ve kd, finishing in top 3 and just won only my 5th FFA match ever. Must have been a bunch of numpties though, I went 19-3 and one of those was my fault!

Starting to click with the idea of a secondary weapon now as well. I got quite frustrated last night, but tonight is a little better.
