Why do you need the grip if you're not aiming down the sight?

Because it reduces recoil - some guns really move without a grip. I find it essential for the RPD but less so for the AA12, mainly because of the distances involved when shooting.

Sadly, I think I'm going back to muting everyone I don't know. The sooner they add a report button to the PS3 the better.

If it makes you feel any better, the process for reporting boosters on the 360 is (almost) too labour intensive to bother with.

Is it normal for daytimer players to be noticeably more stupid or something? The number of racists I've met today is incredible.

I vented about this around 20 pages or so back. It seems daytime brings out the worst kind of player. Night time I don't spot em so much but the number of complaints I file if i'm on in the day for racist names / behaviour is ludicrous. I'm really not a prude but i'm screwed if i'm going to play a game with someone who calls themselves kill[insert racist name here].

Mute is always your friend also.

I don’t think I’ve actually ever heard a vocal racist on MW2; it’s rare – like, one game in ten – that I’ll actually hear another player actually say anything, most of the time nobody’s got a mike and when they do, they never say anything.

There were quite a few on Halo 3, though.

Daytime brings out students and the unemployed.

What is the clip size like in the ACR? I'm about to finally unlock it in one or two more levels and am looking forward to using after the praise it gets in here, but I have just started gettign used to and loving the clip size of the RPD after using the SCAR for so long, is the ACR about in the middle?

I've recently switched to ACR from the RPD and the clip size difference is pretty big, not half way I'd say. I do spray my shots quite a lot at close range with ACR versus the more conisdered, sniper like use I make of the RPD. I've only used SCAR a little but the ACR definitely feels closer to that gun.

Same, though I used to hear racist kids almost every game i used to play of MW1, even though I didn't play it much. But I think it's because Halo 3 and MW1 are games that reward teamwork (and therefore communication) far more than MW2. In fact MW2, for non-objective gametypes, actively discourages teamwork in my opinion. Maybe it depends if you are playing with people you know, but certainly when you play on your own, you find your teammates getting in the way and/or getting you killed far more often than they help you out or save you. And more often than not their atrocious K/D spreads end up making your team lose the game.

30 rounds of 5.56 whilst the SCAR is beefy 7.62 so its just 20 rounds. If it was 30 you'd struggle to hold it.

Blue: sorry for ignoring your invites this afternoon...my ping was utter fucking rickets. Does anyone know if having thermal on the intervention would alter its killing powwwwah? I did the ACOG unlock and the amount of times it took two fucking shots to bring some b'stard down. When I tried out the thermal rig it was just as bad. Again this could have been due to my farcical connection.

Re: FFA nuke cheaters - check the scoreboard, if you think some tossers are going for a nuke you should listen for the sound of weapons reloading. I can't tell you why but whilst hiding those guys sound like they're reloading constantly. Why in the name of sweet fucking arse is there not a mercenary FFA mode? Baffling, IW.

WHAT? FFA isn't Mercenary?

Well that is just utterly ludicrous, I assumed it was but someone had circumvented the system somehow.

FFA is Mercenary.

But... If you are in the looking for a game stage, and a mate selects "Join in progress" from his Friend's list, then he'll join your game.

It works with all modes. People use it for Cage Match boosting (e.g. to get headshots).

You need Stopping Power with the Intervention I reckon, a shot in the upper body will kill most of the time with it. Thermal/ACOG don't alter damage at all.

I think I must have taken stopping power pro off this morning without releasing it. Never ceases to amaze me the amount of folk who'll set up shop next to a stack of shinny red barrels.

(window to window on Highrise is about 64m)

A player has 100 health.

The intervention's bullets do 70 damage per shot (unsuppressed)

There is a 1.5 multiplier for headshots. 1.5*70=105 (kill)

There is a 1.5 multiplier for chest shots. 1.5*70=105 (kill)

There is a 1.1 multiplier for anywhere else (or maybe just gut shots?). 1.1*70=77 (no kill)

Stopping Power increases damage by 1.4, which means the interventions base damage is now 98. It kills with one shot to the head or chest without stopping power. To the rest of the body, 1.1 multiplier, its now 1.1*98=108 (kill)

I'm not sure if the 1.1 modifier is for the stomach, or for anywhere on the body (ie, one shot to the legs will kill)

Stats are identical for the Barrett.

FWIW, the Silencer drops the damage of all sniper rifles to 50. Stopping power will increase that damage to 70 (50*1.4) so a Silenced sniper rifle with stopping power will still one shot people at any range if you hit them in the head or chest.

so is that for one famas bullet? no wonder it's ace when it shoots 3 at a time...

Yeah. If all three hit, its a kill. If you put Stopping Power on, one burst will kill at any range assuming all three bullets hit. If you can live with the iron sights and dont want a noob tube or shotgun, then you might as well silence it too, because the killing power is unaffected. All a silencer does is reduce the gun to its minimum damage earlier. In the case of the FAMAS and M16, that is 30 per bullet, or 42 per bullet with stopping power (30*1.4=42 42*3=126 [kill])

Its been said in this thread before, but the only real difference between the FAMAS and the M16 is how the bursts are timed.

The FAMAS has a tighter burst. All three bullets are fired faster, so all three are more likely to hit a moving target.

The M16 has a shorter time between bursts. If the first shot doesnt kill, you can get the second one off more quickly. Some people might prefer that against moving targets. It really is down to personal preference if you like the burst fire weapons though, as the differences in timing are literally fractions of a second. Anecdotal evidence suggests the FAMAS is the stronger gun, some people say it kills with a burst to the legs and the M16 doesnt. I'm unsure about it and I havent tested it. That chart also suggests that the FAMAS doesnt drop down to its minimum damage as early as the M16 either, though its the first time I have ever seen that. Of course, if you are taking Stopping Power then its academic anyway, but probably worth considering if you are taking a different second perk.

On a slightly related matter, another thing that has been said in the thread before is that the M93 Raffica is one hell of a powerful sidearm. It does the same damage as the M16 and FAMAS, and a successful burst (all three bullets hitting) will kill at any range with stopping power, whether the gun is silenced or not. It's like that tiny little gun which could blow up trucks that Will Smith had in Men in Black. The downside of course is you cant zoom in with it, even the red dot doesnt offer the same enhanced view as it does on the assault rifles. Its a hell of a sidearm to have if you are using a SMG or a fully automatic Assault rifle and you see a fairly easy to make "snipe" though.

I tried that out, but didn't really like it. If you use it with Last Stand you really want to be able to pull off medium to long range headshots, and I found I kept missing them with the akimbo set up. You rarely don't kill someone first up close with just the one anyway, and you lose too much of the long range fuctionality.
