I always thought there was no matchmaking at all in this. Yesterday though I played for an hour or two by myself on ground war and it seemed like every single game I joined everyone was a lower level than me [i'm lvl 67 not even prestiged yet]. Then I joined a party with friends where all of them were 3-5 prestige and suddenly every game of Ground War we played was full of high prestiges. Was this just luck ?

It DEFINITELY adjusts who you play with.

this, i jumped in a friends free for all after he just got the game and it was all level 15-50 people - it was like they weren't even shooting back, i was getting 30-2 - 30-7 every game with the second place guy on about 15 tops, felt bad in the end and left to get in a team deathmatch instead.

today i think i'll team deathmatch it.. want to get to 10,000 kills in the next day or so, think i'm about 800 away

So I've reached that terrible stage of the multiplayer: Level 70. How badly is not prestiging frowned upon? Does anyone really care? I don't feel like doing it. For a start, I still have many weapons usnused and challenges I haven't met, and five custom class slots are enough for me. On the other hand, I doubt it would make much difference to my KDR, I'd just go to my trusty Marathon-Lightweight-Commando back-up and stab everyone exclusively for 30 or so levels.

Will I suffer mockery in lobbies if I stay at Level 70 for too long?

I care. I don't know why but I just think it's a bit of a cop out not to prestige, somehow.

I very much doubt it. I prestiged for the second time last night, and will do again, but that's because I want the additional class slots. The prestige emblems themselves just make me feel incredibly sad - I've sunk five days in to this game! They're like a badge of shame. :)

Your K/D ratio says you rock at this game. How come you don't play in our clan games?

On the down side, it was one of the few games of FFA that didn't have the Ice Skating glitch on it. At least one in every 4 games had it and it is totally unplayable. What sort of bellenend thinks flying across Wasteland in 5 seconds is enjoyable?

I had one match of merc TDM on Invasion last night where that occurred. It was awful.

Nah, Snoop, you're our star player, it's just slightly frustrating that mook signed up to AFGM but I can't ever get him into our games. I'm not sure he's played with us once, but maybe he has and we weren't good enough for him.

i don't know about star player, i can have a few good games but usually it's nothing special, i just have a thing for my k/d ratio and i like getting it as high as i can but without boring myself at the same time, at one point i was coming straight out of free-for-all and into team deathmatch and not really adjusting how to play, i'd play like a free for all and wonder why it was so quiet.

now though i've played enough of each to remember, a bit annoying you can't have killstreaks for each certain class - that would have been awesome.. but maybe a bit too much in the way of options? could have had a negative effect in the long run. maybe they could have made it so each new custom slot for prestiging means it has its own 3 killstreak rewards that you could make seperate from your current one? i think i've been typing too much and i'm not sure if i make sense anymore!

i blame my chest infection

Just shy of 7 days and half way through prestige 3 - having great fun killing UMP45 uses with the Vector as it really should beat them but the sheer amount of bullets it spits out make it a great close quarters hip fire weapon. Had a cracking round on Afghan with the Intervention to, went 29-3 , then someone messaged me calling me an 'Intervention Noob' because yeah, everyone's running around with that aren't they .. LOL.

Its amusing how nukes have gone from this awe inspiring spectacle the first week or two of the game, to now whenever someone calls one in groans and complaints from both sides.

I started a Favella ground war the other day really badly with 4-5 deaths then pulled it round getting on a nice streak. Just when I got my AC130 the nuke count down starts thanks to some lad on my team. The game was just over halfway through and we were winning by miles

There are some bloody awful players about on weekends. I have had maybe ten rounds of TDM today and I think I finished on the losing side on seven of them. Of those seven losing rounds, I was the only player not to go negative on our team each and every time. Just had my last match before I have to leave for work, and I finished top of our team with 12-3. The next best player on our team was something like 10-16, and we had one guy who was 1-21.

There were a group of about four people who seemed to be joined at the hip. They were holding a corner of Sub Base in one game and I think I cleaned them out with a noob tube about four times before the round was over, even got the winning kill with a noob tube. The next round (on Scrapyard) they were all on my team. I snuck behind enemy lines, was just about to get a couple of kills when four of my own team spawned on me and went charging off in every direction. Of course, this alerted everybody to our presence and we got slaughtered. I'd play FFA if it werent for nuke boosters being in every third round. I think I need to find some people to group up with regularly.

Heh. I called in a nuke the other day when the scores in Domination were about 80-70. Honestly, I'd be happy to play on and use it at the end, but I didn't want to risk some dick on the other team getting a lucky EMP and screwing me over. Or worse, someone else calling one in first. :)

I have played just over 2 days worth of FFA, and nuke boosting is no more than occasional, I'd say.

To be honest, in my experience what's more annoying is all the people accusing each other of air / nuke boosting in the lobby, rather than actually doing it.

Anyone who likes playing almost exclusively team deathmatch want to make some sort of team/clan? sick of all the idiots on my team going 1-16 and all sorts of silly scores on my team.

I'll happily join you. I've only played TDM since I got it and I'm not in a team but would like to be - it's soooo much better than playing with randoms who run about like headless chickens. Gamertag's in my sig if you fancy some games :)

ACR+Silencer. Scavenger, Stopping Power and Ninja.

Two more level-ups and *that* will be my usual class. I'm running it at the moment with the Famas (iron sights FTW) plus Claymores and it's just lovely. The full-auto of the ACR is my AR preference, so I'm looking forward to tonight as it'll be unlocked in about an hour :D

I used to use Cold-blooded for full stealth, but now I just shoot down the enemy UAV and have a Cold-blooded class to switch to for anti-air - Stopping Power makes the silencer totally viable at range.

lmao, 44 and 11 on MTDM with the ripper class. I think that's the most fun i've ever had in a MW2 game. Got a chopper and emergency airdrop right at the end too but no time to use them.

EDIT: On favela. best map to use it on IMO

Can someone give me a few suggestions of classes to set up on this? Primary and secondary guns, perks, killstreaks, etc.

I haven't played it much yet and I'm only a level 23 or something, but I find I'm using the same class that I set up right at the start for everything. It feels a bit overwhelming how much choice there is, but the difference in the guns I've tried seems so subtle I don't see any real advantages in changing.

Edit: The main reason I'm asking is that I keep coming up against people and shooting first, but for some reason they're getting the kill. It's either latency or they're using a gun which has a quicker initial fire rate or some kind or perk or something. I'd just like to balance it out a bit.

Sleight of Hand Pro will let you aim down your sights quicker, and it doesn't take too long to level up. I've done really well using that with a silenced AR with stopping power, until I ran out of ammo anyway.

And try the SPAS 12 in your secondary slot.

The SPAS 12 is a shotgun right? I normally have some shit rocket launcher in my second shot, but it never takes anything down so it's pretty pointless.

I don't usually switch weapons all that much while I'm playing though. I suppose it's due to the fact that any weapon will take anybody out immediately, so I don't feel it necessary.

I really need to start learning the nuances of the game if I'm going to enjoy it though.

I was in the same boat as you. Mainly a Halo player, didn't really get along with the mechanics of this when I started out, but it changed for me when I got the ACR (and stuck stopping power on it). The game actually felt kinda 'fairer' after that. I think that particular gun is a few levels away for you, but the main aspect of it that changed things for me was it's accuracy/extremely low recoil. Not sure what the most accurate AR otherwise is, but try going for one with high accuracy, might improve things for you.

The other big thing for me was learning all the areas you can get shot from. Which is a bloody nightmare for some of the maps like Favela and Karachi in all honesty, but you'll get used to knowing where to look and when to have you gun up.

Yep it's a shotgun. I use one on most of my classes and switch to it whenever I enter one of the tighter parts of a map, like the alleys near the top of Favela. You never need to aim down the sights so you'll kill a lot of people shooting from the hip (Steady Aim is handy for this) before they can bring their sights up.

It's like a raping kit. It has a huge range, little recoil and spits bullets like nothing else. With the silencer and ninja no one knows where the fuck you are. I carry a javelin as well to take down air stuff, I don't have the need for a shotty atm. I was playing high-rise earlier, about 5 min in on a ground war game, when the host, I assume rage quit. I was 34-4 :)
