I just improved my killstreak from 14 to 16. Did it with UAV, UAV Jammer and Predator Missile too, and I only got one kill with the Predator. Everything else was with my Magnum/Tactical knife. I am telling you, that First Recon class which is unlocked by default is pretty awesome. Ninja is as viable as Commando for Ripper builds if you have Ninja Pro unlocked.

That tactical knife is quicker than standard isn't it? Owing to it already being out, I assume.

Found out about that Sentry gun killstreak confusion. Apparently it WILL contribute to your killstreak, provided 1) you don't die, and 2) you don't move it from where you originally placed it. I'll check it out later and if it's true I'll probably run it over predator a lot of the time now.

Yep, Unlimited UAV said the same- make sure you put it in a good place the first time you do, because once you move it- it won't contribute anymore.

I'd swap it for the predator but the whole issue of calling it in like a care package is really risky. If I've racked up 5 kills- its usually because the team is rushing to where I am. I'd probably die while picking it up :(

I only just started using Sentry Gun. I just want to do the "Call 50 in" challenge. Its pretty sweet when combined with Counter UAV. They dont know where you are calling it. :(

While I think about it, does anybody have a list of good locations to plant the Sentry gun? I'm only really happy with it on one map (Terminal) and everywhere else I find myself looking for the optimal place to put it. I assume there are several on every map and some kind soul out there must have put them up on the internets, surely?

The fact it is dropped like a care package is why I orginally changed to the predator. But after playing and learning to strategically place the sentry I find it really useful. Sometime. I will save it once I have picked it up to deploy it once I have respawned. Helps knock up the kill streak :(

I didn't think of doing it that way! So it will add to your new KS as long as you don't call the package in till after you respawn?

I can't carry a Stinger anymore, it's the Raffica forever for me!

I'm more an AA12 man myself but I hear you. It's worth duplicating your favourite loadout with a Stinger and Cold Blooded for those occasions when your team are getting cut down by choppers and harriers. It's daft how many teams will let themselves get mowed down by enemy air support when just one player with a Stinger could make the difference between winning and losing a round.

I believe so yes.

I love the AA12, but I am loving the raffica with red dot aswell. My favorite loadout is still the famas with stopping power, silencer and red dot. But I have been playing around loads with stoppning damage, scavenger and UGL ACR or M16. Ratios aren't great but I enjoy blowing the hell out of people.

I played quite a bit tonight, mostly domination. The amount of people who were playing with the grenade launcher on the guns was ridiculous though and it ruined the games.

No excuse dude. Just build a blast shield class and their noob tubes are practically worthless. Any thing that annoys you in this game has a counter.

Apparently the blast shield is next to useless and only saves you if you're right on the edge of an explosion. Also you have to activate it by pressing RB when you want to use it, which reduces your view and takes away your radar I think. Haven't tried it yet, though.

Nah, the blast shield is excellent, sure it won't save you from a direct hit from an AT4 but what the fuck do you want? A danger close UGL hit won't kill unless you literally get them in the balls with it and you most often have time to move while they reload the next shot. It's an excellent equip, especially for capturing points. Riot Shield + Blast Shield + smoke + an ex.mag AA12, go prone on a point and just spray. Works wonders.

So now we're back where we started. Genius.

I love this game, I just can't believe that IW can drop the ball with so many aspects. Poor code security, questionable balance of some weapons and perks, average net-code, poor host selection, nuke kill-streak and so on. It's almost as if they don't actually play the game themselves (perhaps they don't) and so don't realise how close to utterly amazing it is, but is somewhat spoiled at times due to an apparent lack of design effort. It seems startlingly odd for a developer that seemingly makes a huge effort to model the weapons, balance the majority of the gameplay and so on to include dual wielding of shotguns, and to not balance them, and to then screw up an easy patch and to not have addressed basic issues from the original MW like the broken party system and lack of regional/quality filter.

Prestiged for the first time last night and took is as a time to try new things. My first care package was a chopper gunner and I went 14-3 on a TDM, thought I'd move onto FFA, only my second or third go on it, had two people doing a nuke... I was the last one left by the end trying to find them, but they had EMP which made it difficult and they got to 24-0 before I bowed my hat and left, I hope they feel proud.

I'm a burst assault rifle man by heart so I went Famas to M16 before but thought I'd try out the m14 and scar, really didn't like them, never seemed to have enough ammo to kill people with where as I could clear a room with an M16 I was left with an empty magazine with the scar.

Through the first 70 levels I had a grand total of 1 sniper kill and that was when I ran out of ammo and picked up the first weapon I found, tried a sniper last night and my word I was pants. I still don't like sniper players but I have to give it to them its hard.

Next time I'm on its back to the Famas till the M16, I can't play any other way anymore :(

IW are starting to remind me of Epic. GoW2 was a joke for weeks (the issues were far worse than MW2 to be fair), but they [Epic] were hopeless at sorting things out, and would half-patch things whilst introducing more issues due to poor testing/balancing. I remember reading that many Epic staff (e.g. CliffyB and Rod Ferguson) didn't really play multiplayer, and spent much of their time on the Horde mode. It makes me wonder if IW actually play their game, or if after spending so much time working on it they want to play other things. Maybe it's a bit like never leaving your work behind if you spend much spare time playing it.

In any case, a little more care, and a bit more effort to tidy up some loose ends (the host selection and net-code being my main gripes) would be much appreciated. Plus, it would actually be effort that's saved against MW3's development (assuming that they would actually improve those things for MW3 of course).

When the game works, it's sublime, which is, I think, why I'm frustrated when the issues with it spoil my enjoyment.

I tried sniping last night for a bit and was rubbish. I got decent at it in Gears and could no-scope/quick scope people to a reasonable degree, but I'm not really moved to do it in MW2. I find snipers annoying when they run about and use the Intervention like some over-powered assault rifle. As you say, I'll give them their dues, it's not easy one-shotting someone under pressure, but it seems somehow at odds with the balance of the game for highly hand-eye skilled peeps to be able to run about with a sniper rifle at close to mid-range and to beat out an assault rifle or LMG.

Also, I'm looking forward to the influx of new players we'll probably be seeing today. Should make for some easy games later on :(

My first round of the morning ended with a most delightful 24-2. I only wish Santa had brought me a headset for Christmas so I could thank all the fresh meat for their wonderfully kind presents in the lobby.

In fairness some of the subsequent matches in other lobbies proved less charitable, with some absolutely despicable groups of campers fucking my shit up on Rundown. I think all the opportunists are out for the new blood today.
