I'm kind of addicted to Stopping Power, having gone through all the unlocks on the FAMAS with it.

I'm using it now with the ACR with FMJ. Is it necessary?

I should add that my secondary wep is the Raffica, also with FMJ, so I imagine it helps out there. Man, that Raffica is a bananas second weapon, especially with Last Stand or whatever it's called.

Couple of Qs:

Does anyone have any data on how far you can sprint with the various weapon classes? I'm starting to think that Marathon is a bit of a waste of a perk on an SMG class.

Secondly, how does the game decide who to 'red box' on a predator missile strike? Or is it random?

My Stealth loadout is a silenced, iron-sighted SCAR with Scavenger Pro, Cold-Blooded, Ninja Pro and Claymores

I'm not sure if it's purely psychological but I'm definately better with a red dot. It seems like such a waste but I really struggle without it. Try switching to an ACR, you shouldn't really need scavenger with that so you can bling with impunity. Also, personally, I avoid windows as much as I can. They're a big frame to remind your opponents where you are and they always get checked thoroughly by snipers and the like.

I've never had a "stealth" class, i.e. I never use cold blooded, but I spend the vast majority of the game never on the opposition's UAV. When they put a UAV up, retreat back to your team and try and predict where they'll come from based on the positions of your team-mates, because they'll be hunting you.

Cold Blooded is more of an anti-air perk in this than a stealth essential I find. You get far fewer UAVs going up due to the other killstreaks tempting people and, crucially, if one does go up, you know that you're visible and can plan accordingly (set up a trap or rejoin your team).

I do use it on my super-stealthy loadout, but on my semi-stealthy flanking loadout I don't bother. I just run off if a UAV goes up.

Use stopping power. The FAMAS (and to a lesser extent the SCAR) is crazily powerful with the silencer and stopping power. Like I say, one to two bursts. I've never had a "stealth" class, i.e. I never use cold blooded, but I spend the vast majority of the game never on the opposition's UAV. When they put a UAV up, retreat back to your team and try and predict where they'll come from based on the positions of your team-mates, because they'll be hunting you.

Thinking more about it, the rot set in when I switched Stopping Power for Scavenger, but I love claymores. Claymores = Free Kills.:P

I find a red dot much easier to use, which as you suggest is likely psychological. I like the unobscured field of view it provides. I likely don't need it though - EMP? Whatever, I just stick the enemy in the middle of the empty sight and bang, dead. So iron sights are most likely off-putting because they offer more of an opportunity to miss a tiny movement a long way off rather than because I can't use them because I can manage without the dot.

I use Scavenger for the claymores rather than the extra ammo, I just love having one go off when I'm on the other side of the map, it's always cheering to get a double kill you weren't expecting.

Cold-blooded is great for being able to ignore the majority of air support, it's funny how many people are concentrating on the windows and doors whilst they have a chopper out because they expect to see you hiding there that they don't spot you out in the street shooting them in the face.

Speaking of anti-air, who was saying that aircraft were easy to shoot down with assault rifles? I emptied five (count 'em!) full ACR clips into a Harrier the other day, and it didn't even start smoking. I didn't have FMJ at the time, but I did have Stopping Power Pro.

I think the red boxes are for anyone without cold-blooded. If you can't see the figure inside the box it means they're indoors, I think.

Stopping power is a slot 2 perk. Scavenger is a slot 1 perk.

In that case:

A. I'm stupid.

B. Scavenger is not the reason my game has gone downhill.

C. I may have possibly put cold-blooded on instead of SP, but I doubt it.

Don't know the exact answer to 1), except for SMGs and Snipers sprint further than ARs than sprint further that LMGs. From a purely non-scientific point of view, I'd say Marathon on an SMG class isn't worth it. You still sprint pretty far with an SMG without marathon and the Perk 1 slot would be more useful with something else.

For 2) I'm pretty sure the answer is "everyone who is not Cold Blooded".

But you don't tend to see many people red-boxed on a Predator strike, and not many people use cold blooded (in MTDM anyway). I dropped a bomb on a cluster of at least four people out in the open on Derail earlier - only one had the box round him. They can't all have been Cold Blooded.

I have noticed a slight increase in akimbo Rangers now, but the only times they killed me was when a single shotgun would have killed me anyway.

Also, I think I've finally found my favourite gun. Stopping Power on the ACR is, in my humble view, utterly beastly. I switched to it tonight and so many of those 50-50 situations are now 80-20 due to the high fire rate and almost total lack of recoil. Honestly, it's almost as though I'm playing a different game now or I've plugged an Action Replay in or some shit. Does eat up the ammo a bit but OMA or Scavenger sorts that out. Wub!

I played quite a bit tonight, mostly domination. The amount of people who were playing with the grenade launcher on the guns was ridiculous though and it ruined the games.

Explosives are fantastic in domination, where players are often huddled in groups around the points. They're also great for defending a point too.

Try Merc TDM if explosives are annoying you, they're much less useful when players aren't clustered around one of three points.

Anyone else tried adding FMJ to akimbo 1887s? I just tried it on recommendation of a friend and went 27-5 on FFA.

1887 + Akimbo + FMJ

Bling Pro

Stopping Power Pro

Steady Aim Pro

Not sure how it compares to pre-patch, but i was getting some ridiculous shots.

Couldnt hit a cows arse with a banjo tonight. I dread to think what my K/D was for the evening. Just dinged 67 though, unlocked the fabled 1887 shotgun. The day after it gets nerfed.

I have also decided to get the Tactical Knife on the Magnum to add to the one I have on my USP .45. Chanced my arm getting it in FFA where Ripper tends to be quite successful if you get the right map (Scrapyard, Favela, Highrise, Terminal) and I noticed that the default "First Recon" class has a magnum with tactical knife unlocked. Its a pretty decent ripper class in its own right too, it has a very good gun (UMP w/Holographic sight) and the perks are Marathon, Lightweight and Ninja.

Ninja on a ripper is quite interesting. You lose the awesomeness of Commando, but the extra range you get on your melee lunge is kinda made up for the fact that you make no noise whatsoever (assuming you have Ninja pro) and you certainly have a much easier time chasing down people and getting them in the back because they simply cannot hear you coming. I just rattled off 80+ kills with the Magnum & Tactical Knife in not much more than half an hour (melee kills with the tactical knife still count as Magnum kills btw). If you want a tactical knife quickly for anything, I recommend this way. It is a pretty fast route to the unlock.

Possibly part of the problem is moving cautiously about and finding the fight elsewhere all the time, resulting in rushing to catch up and leaving myself open to attack. Thanks for the advice regarding cover, I'll try to observe what's shaded more. I do always stand at the back of a room to shoot from a window (Mark Wahlberg taught us that in Shooter ), but I think I probably make a lot of bad decisions position-wise. It doesn't help that my main online partner can rush about like a loon getting 25 kills and 8 deaths, seemingly with no effort whilst I'm sneaking about nursing my 3 up to a 5. I also suspect that I switch off too much mentally when gaming, rather than applying enough concentration. I need to focus more, think about whether the next move is likely to get me killed, take less risky options. It's very easy to swan around and be shot by someone hiding 100 yards away behind a bin.

This is me, through and through. I haven't managed to get on in 2 weeks (which doesn't help when you're already rubbish), but i was just all over the show last night. I actually rage quit for the first time ever... i've only had my 360 a year and this i the first time I've chucked my controller across the room. We were playing Demolition, which I've never played before, it was hectic to say the least and I was being killed more than 20 times per game. One mistake was changing the Perks on my loadout to try and Pro them all, without putting thought into how they complimented each other. Being rubbish, i should just stick to the ones that suit my play style until I'm more confident.

You can down a UAV with about one clip with SPP but choppers and the like really require an LMG with SPP and FMJ. But really, just use a stinger.

Going back to those stats from ages ago, I think helicopters have 2000 health, Pavelow's 3000 and Harrier's something silly like 4000, but have code that say they'll always drop with a single rocket. Those figures are likely quite wrong but I know Harriers have more than helicopters when shooting with bullets.

As far as I am aware, explosives have a damage modifier when they hit air support or sentry guns.

That reminds me, I got an epic kill with a Javelin on Derail last night. Fired it at the chopper gunner, the chopper gunner deployed its flare. My rocket hit somebody on the ground.

This game has been a fantastic voyage of discovery for me. As my first ever online multiplayer experience I started out as the ultimate n00b, as I've often lamented in this thread. Now I have reached my destination and am regularly getting awarded MVP and The Feared accolades at the end of matches. I almost feel embarrassed when I see me above everyone else on the scorecard.

I still feel like a filthy cheat, though. I've got a Scar with thermal scope and FMJ to shoot the shit out of everyone, I've got pro versions of Marathon, Lightweight and Commando perks so I can stab the shit out of everyone, and I've got claymores to blow the shit out of everyone. I can't imagine any set up making me feel like more of a god than this.

I just improved my killstreak from 14 to 16. Did it with UAV, UAV Jammer and Predator Missile too, and I only got one kill with the Predator. Everything else was with my Magnum/Tactical knife. I am telling you, that First Recon class which is unlocked by default is pretty awesome. Ninja is as viable as Commando for Ripper builds if you have Ninja Pro unlocked.

Oh man Today's patch is a blessing, came across one Akimbo shottie dude and beat him a few times in close-quarters with my trusty TAR.

Well, that's not good. They've fixed it and then nerfed it then if that's the case.

Shotguns are meant to be brutal in close quarters whereas the Tar should struggle with spray. You're meant to have the advantage at range and him up close.
