The ACOG on Sniper Rifles is as horrible as it is pointless, no? I need 25 kills to unlock the thermal. I think its going to take 25 games to get those kills!

Mind you, I am pretty sure my 360 just died. No red ring of death, but I had a good minute of the screen looking like a C64 load screen before it went black. Tried rebooting, still black. Sound works fine, it seems to sign into live fine. Just no picture. I dont think its my TV, but I dont really have any way to check, my 360 is a 2005 model (amazed its lasted this long to be honest) and it doesnt have a HDMI out, so I cant even try it in a different connection on my TV. Ill give it 15 minutes to cool down and try it again.

Something similar happened to mine just now. I was in the middle of a game and it just froze up. I was able to reset it though and everything seemed fine until I tried another game on live with the same result. Tried dabbling with the spec ops mode and as soon as it had loaded the map and I moved forward a bit, the same thing happened. I've played it enough for today, so I'm going to leave it for now. I hope it's alright though

i like it when i get a ripper class coming at me now, because earlier one was getting all cocky so i was like "oh you want to play stabs do ya?" and got out my care package, woooosh.

Now that I've "done" the commando perh challenge, I'm kinda off of the ripper class now. Still keep Marathon and Lightweight (at least for a while to keep chasing that achievement), but ripper is very dull to play after a while.

Take a sniper rifle as your primary. It changes the dynamic of the class dramatically.

I unlocked the AA-12 extended magazine the other day - omg, fully automatic shotgun! You only get one large clip rather then two bigger ones but my god it's insane. Great if you've been flashed or stunned, just point it vaguely at the door and pull the trigger.

It take a lot of earning though, doesnt it? I think I gave up after about 150 kills. I broke it out again last night though. I will get the extended magazines eventually.

I use it as a secondary on my assault rifle and sniper classes so I was getting loads of kills with it. But yeah, took ages - I'm level 69!

I've spent the last few weeks messing around with lots of 'alt' setups, stabbing, akimbo shotties, heartbeat jammers and of course OMA DCP. Whilst I've had some success on some maps, not to mention lots of fun, my K/D has slid from over 1.3 to around the 1.2 mark. Last night went back to my usual setup - silenced red dot ACR/M16 with an AA12, claymores, cold blooded and ninja - and did much better overall. Apart from maybe the akimbo 1887s nothing else feels unbalanced or unfair in MW2 - a remarkable achievement really.

So I was having major issues with lag last night. A few tests on my pc showed that speed was fine, but my ping was appalling. Kept rubber-banding all over the place. My kill-cams showed me moving like a poorly done stop-motion animation.

Just as I was about to give up for fear of ruining my precious Kill/Death ratio, i was made host. WUT? I looked on as I had 4 full bars, and everyone else in my game was on 2 or 3.

The sportsman in me wanted to leave the game because I would obviously have an advantage over pretty much everyone because of my poor connection. But I'd had such a bad run with lag and deaths that were beyond my control earlier that I couldn't quite resist one match as host.

I ended with a ratio of 35 - 2. No-one quit the match surprisngly and although not very sportsmanlike, it was great to actually have a lag free game. It's not an advantage I'd like every game, but it does annoy me that my connection is usually so poor. Is there any way to reduce ping from your ISP? Like I said, my speeds are fine, its the ping, jitter and packet loss that are killing me.

No-one quit the lobby after the match either, which i was surprised by. I decided to bow out as I'd had my fun.

But it's oh so worth the effort. I found I had to force myself to sit still and let the game come to me as a sniper - this goes against the grain as I like to be in amongst it. Getting the thermal is awesome though - it really makes pulling headshots off so much easier and looks so damn cool. Twin it with cold blooded (I think) and it's a thing of beauty.

I'ver also unlocked the snow suit for 50 (I think) one shot kills. On snow levels I'm a monster in the shadows

Incidently, which perk makes your name not appear above your head ? I think iot must be one I've not upgraded as my tag seems to always be on the kill cam....

Cold Blooded Pro. Just stick a stinger missile in your cold blooded kit and make a point of shooting down UAVs.

Its not really worth the effort though. Well, it might be if you want to emulate the "play dead" guy, but thats about it. Definitely one of the lamer "pro" upgrades.

Is there any way to reduce ping from your ISP?

If you have a fairly stable line you could ring your ISP and ask them to switch interleaving off. I did this recently and it lowered my average pings from 60 to 30.

The spawns are still fucked. Especially on heavy activity modes like Domination- I can't say the annoying amount of times I was spawned right in front of where some enemies were camping because my teammates were attacking- at one point I saw spawned directly in front of two enemies in the exact direction they were camping- they must have been happy. At one point a predator missle killed me and I got spawned right under the harrier airstrike that followed it-that was just unlucky though

The maps are big enough to spawn you away from the deadly zones but small enough so that you don't have to run for miles to get back to the action, so I don't know why it spawns you right into danger so much.

I'd recommend the AA-12 grip over the extended mags. Adds a fair bit of range. Never sight it up and just let 2-3 shots go off in their general direction. Most fun gun in the game. BOOM BOOM BOOM. Hardly ever lose a one on one with that baby.

TMP with extended mags is THE win. It goes from a tiny 15 clip, which is deadly but easy to be caught out on since it blurts them out so fast, to 25, almost doubling the bullets. It's my fave secondary.

What advantage does the grip bring to it, Timmo? I use grip on my LMGs and it helps accuracy no end, but how does it help at such close range? Does it extend the range of the AA-12?

You can't have a secondary weapon if you use OMA

I'm loving OMA Pro with a foregrip AUG HBAR and Claymores- infinite claymores and the large clip means I don't need to refill ammo that often- it's an evil camping setup

Takes ages to get used to when to know when to use which, though. You need a pretty good map knowledge and/or a UAV up.

Saw my first nuke last night. A bloke got a 30 kill streak in 2 and a half mins, and dropped a nuke on us.

Bloke was bloody good though, had an AC130 within 60 seconds...

I have it as the secondary on my LMG and Assault Rifle kits. I'll always switch to the shotgun when I go into a room, its ridiculous indoors. It probably needs Scavenger and a Grip to make the most of it. Extended Mags are probably not the ultimate thing when you have Scavenger, but I want to unlock it on that gun. Ill get to see for myself whether a Grip or Extended Mags is the way to go then.

I have Extended Mags on the USP .45 pistol and the AUG HBAR Light Machine Gun but I never use them.

M93 Raffica with red dot sight and stopping power is basically an M16 in your secondary weapon slot. I use it on my sniper class and it's saved me so many times when someone's surprised me at close/medium range. I love it.

Bling Pro with the AA-12 is teh sex - grip AND extended mags. Anyone in the room with you is a-dyin.

I'm so torn about prestiging, I'll hit 70 tonight or tomorrow. I know from past experience I don't enjoy it as much when I'm not accumulating little pointless XP figures but equally, all that work for the weapons for nowt.
