FFS. Search for 'best connection' and 3 times in a row get put into the same shitty 3 bar game that we're winning by miles. Fourth time it puts me in the same game but on the opposite team, by the time it's finished loading we've lost. I hope whoever wrote the netcode for this gets hit by a fucking bus.

Eight in a row with 3 bar connections that are nearly over!

What a difference two weeks makes.

It's been a fortnight since I last played MW2 online, and the game seems totally different now. Every game I played tonight seemed to be full of ninjas who have had time to learn every nook and cranny of every map, waiting behind each corner with akimbo shotguns and weapons I've never even seen, almost all using bling. I think it may have reached that point for me that, sadly, all Live FPS games reach - the point where, online, unless you're prepared to put in that day-to-day practice, you might just be better off not playing at all. Obviously the point at which that happens varies from person-to-person, but it's similar to why I don't play Halo 3 online now - I stopped for a couple of weeks and when I came back, I was totally outclassed not just by combat ability but also by people that seemed to always have the right weapons and equipment.

It's a shame as I enjoyed the game immensely when it first came out, and all of the maps and mechanics were new to everyone.

Yep, there's been a definite step up in the quality of play online the past week. I do play daily though, so that's ok. :D

I often mention it, but it's at times like this I lament that this generation is missing games like Midtown Madness 3 and Mechassault - online games that were fun just to play, and didn't involve any real knowledge of maps etc.

Anyway, I don't want to bitch about it. Are those hacking problems still prevalant?

Of course, you could assume that there will be hundreds of thousands if not millions of new players joining in after December 25th. Make of that what you will, but every map wont be full of people who know everything about the game for a few weeks after Xmas.

Yeah, but haven't you previously said you're pretty much just using Grenade Launchers? I'd rather be beaten by someone who plays better than me than someone who's just tubing constantly. It's boring.

I don't really understand why they've restricted grenades to one per life but still give you two for launchers - used properly one should good for two kills, surely that's enough? Even with scavenger only having one a time would stop people just using them as their default weapon, which should never be the point of them.

It's not by people playing better though, it's by fucking terrible netcode. This is when I play properly, although I've experienced two amazing things with explosives in the last few days also.

1) Explosive hits, explodes, no damage to anyone in radius, even when literally hitting them in the face with team mates around them, no damage at all.

2) Same as above, but ammo remains in your inventory, you still have to reload but the ammo isn't consumed nor the damage dealt, just a reload triggered. wat.

I'm finding the quality of opposition varies massively on this. Won 3 FFAs back-to-back before with 7 opponents who all liked to hang back. It made for some really tense and close matches.

Right now, I joined a match on Underpass, 3minutes in, 7 kills behind. I went on to win by 5 kills 22-3.

Other times I just get spanked out the park

This is exactly what it's like for me, sometimes I'll win back-to-back FFAs and other times in team games I'm a liability, although it seems to be map selection that makes the most difference to how I do. I've only ever got my 7-streak reward twice and one of them was on Rust in FFA :S

Ok, this has happened to me a couple of times previously but I wanted to make sure there was no doubt and it happened again tonight. I have predator(5), harrier(7), pave low(9) for my killstreaks. Tonight I went 5-0, fired off the predator for a triple kill but didn't get my harrier. What's that about? Anyone else had this?

The ACOG on Sniper Rifles is as horrible as it is pointless, no? I need 25 kills to unlock the thermal. I think its going to take 25 games to get those kills!

Mind you, I am pretty sure my 360 just died. No red ring of death, but I had a good minute of the screen looking like a C64 load screen before it went black. Tried rebooting, still black. Sound works fine, it seems to sign into live fine. Just no picture. I dont think its my TV, but I dont really have any way to check, my 360 is a 2005 model (amazed its lasted this long to be honest) and it doesnt have a HDMI out, so I cant even try it in a different connection on my TV. Ill give it 15 minutes to cool down and try it again.

360 patch needs to hit as soon as possible. Playing FFA games are a waste of time - you can guarantee there are 2 fuckers ruining it by boosting in the map somewhere, making winning impossible. They aren't even boosting to get Nukes anymore - just AC130s and Chopper Gunners so they can decimate the rest of the team and help improve there K:D. I don't know how anyone can get any enjoyment out of playing the game like that. The leaderboards are totally screwed and there are still major issues with host migration and killstreak bugs (particularly AC130 not triggering after 11 kills, despite all of them being with regular weapons). It might be a better online game than Halo but Bungie don't stand for anyone pulling shit in their game, anyone fucking around with their leaderboards soon endures the banhammer, a lesson IW could do with learning pronto.

I got Flawless without realising it. In a ground war no less! I would imagine its quite easy to get in TDM. Just have cold blooded, ninja and a ghillie suit. Hide in the long grass. On maps like Wasteland you will probably get it on your first attempt.

Just had a quick hour on the PS3 as my 360 died. Patch 1.7 on there. Once again I am basing my opinion on the tiniest sample of games, but not one cunt running around with Akimbo 1887's on PS3 now its patched. Does anybody who play regularly on Playstation care to comment on this? Have the cheap bastards all dropped the stupidly overpowered guns now they dont have the same range as a rifle?

The range on them really annoys me.

(the second kill is just wrong). Bit gutted I wont get to unlock the overpowered version, but the game is a better place without them.

We played a good long session tonight (me+Uzi+imp) and, thinking back, no there weren't many. The guys that were using them weren't dropping me in one shot from insane ranges so all seems cool.
