Akimbo range has been reduced to M1014 range, damage is the same. Single 1887 still retains original range but lacked the killing power IMO. Rumours of a Commando nerf also, nothing solid yet however.

No, they're right, the single player is boring as fuck on anything higher than normal, hanging around waiting for health regens and spawns to stop is far from fun.

It's one of the most tediously shit levels of any game I've ever played.

I agree with you on how the fuck it got through playtesting. I'm baffled. It's a disaster.

I think favela is a great level. Maybe you're rushing in too much or something. Stay at the start until you've thinned out the enemies and advance slowly.

The single player is very doable on veteran- no respawns for the most part mean you just hang back and pick off target by target. It's a bore though- I enjoy COD games in SP for the spectacle but they are pretty boring games after the first playthrough. The gameplay is shallow as anything and isn't really fun once you've been through all the well done set pieces. Only do it if you want the achievements quite bad, but otherwise I got tired of stop start yawnfest combat.

Multiplayer is aces though- weirdly I'm doing better on 360 than I am on PS3- KDR on 360 is 1.47 and PS3 is 1.35. I think the pads are making a difference, I stumble on aim and melee quite a bit on the PS3 pad, my hands feel too clumsy and big around it :(

See, I played this level twice and took two totally different approaches.

There are no infinite re-spawns. You have to take this level really slowly, it consists of "scripted event trigger" after "scripted event trigger".

You cross over the line and some guys spawn, do it too quick and it becomes a mess.

Slowly does it, kill everything and it's actually quite an enjoyable, heavily scripted ride.

Totally agree with this, if you want the achievements then do it on Veteran. It is really easy only took me few hours more than it did on Regular. There are hardly any respawns and loads of checkpoints you can hit, the only problem i had was Favela but you learn from each death really just take your time and pick them off. I was relieved when it was over though i wouldn't play the story again.

I finished Veteran today, the only particularly hard bits were the parts before, during, and after the mansion, and ironically enough, the very first bit of the whole game where you protect the bridge (maybe because I wasn't used to the lift in difficulty). My flatmate got a glimpse of my pathetic raging gamer mood when I had to protect the fucking memory stick jobbie while it downladed info in the mansion. Jesus wept.

How the fuck is anyone expected to finish the Pit in 30 seconds btw?

Two pistols, no misses, and about half a dozen attempts.

You need a few doubles (one bullet, two targets hit, there's 3 or 4 places you can do this) and try not to miss any, then your accuracy will be over 100% and you'll get a nice time bonus. I had around 110% accuracy which gave me about 3secs off I think, and my final time was about 28.9secs. I only used the one pistol, managed to sneak a reload in without affecting my time.

I (accidentally) killed myself with the grenade launcher last night. I hadn't thought about it before, but can you kill your team mates with it as well? If so, I really should refrain from firing that thing at the bunker on Wasteland when they're at the entrance trying to infiltrate it.

Is Cold-blooded bugged in the same vein as Ninja? I ask because I showed white on a thermal killcam last night whilst using my stealth class, for which Cold-blooded is equipped (I know you can still be seen by thermal when using Cold-blooded, but obv. you don't appear like the Stay-Puft marshmallow man).

Maybe, I don't recall there being anyone else around, but in my defence I was pretty tired :D

Any idea how host-selection works? I'm getting into loads of matches at the moment where almost everyone else apart from me and my friend (who lives 30 miles away) have crap 3 bar connections. Most of the people in the game are from the UK, but the games are horribly latent with at least 0.5 second delay on the killcams.

I'm wondering if they're looking mostly for the highest upload speed, which is important, but if someone using the same connection is blitzing it for downloads its not going to run well.

On the kill cam of a heartbeat sensor guy, you will appear even if you have ninja. You didn't actually appear on there though, it's a bug.

I have two very similar classes, one with ninja, one with steady aim, and the one with ninja I never ever seem to die to a heartbeat sensor person. People really do seem to rely on it too much.

Just had a game where I was sniping. About a minute into the game I shot a guy and just at the instant I heard him groan as having been shot, the transfer of host screen came on. I wondered if I had killed him or would have to face him when the new host was chosen. I was happy to see that I had got the kill and was now 1-0-0, yet when the game restarted, he was alive and I was 0-0-0.

The most annoying time a transfer of host can happen is when you have a predator or airstrike in the air. It drops harmlessly during the countdown.

The UMP is an obscene gun, I get kills from across quarry with it fairly often. That's the same setup I run, although I prefer a 5 over a 7, helps bridge the gap to 8 better. Save the pred til a spawn to guarantee a double kill and then you only need two more for the PaveLow. Have been trying to use Hardline over SP but the extra bullet required is often the difference between making the killstreaks or dying, assuming you're not playing absolute retards. Noticed his hardline class runs a silenced SCAR, may have to give that a go, the extra stopping power the SCAR packs may make all the difference when you throw in scavenger, although I think I'd be happier with a lower recoil weapon, ACR perhaps. A hardline nuke is quite impressive, although when you think about it most of a nuke is getting to 7 and then surviving so it sort of makes sense.

Picking up a FAMAS the other day when I was out of ammo, it's surprisingly good with sights, I'm going to give it a proper run next prestige but I strongly dislike both it and the M16s irons, opting for bling if I need a silencer.

I don't think fast enough to play like that but it's pretty overpowering.

that vid sort of shows why i dont like marathon/lightweight. He's a very good player, but that style doesnt suit cod at all imo. What attracts me to the game is its more considered tactical pace. Seeing a guy whos a good shot just running round racking up kills out of cover and with little forethought cheapens the whole experience for me

That's why I originally liked hardcore, it slowed the game down so much as you couldn't risk any quick movements.

Although, I know I swore blind CoD4 HC was better. It seems to have been a thoroughly rose tinted affair, I went back to play CoD4 one night last week with the same guys I used to play with and sweet jesus fuck was it boring and annoying. Then I swapped UAVJ out for SP, silencer for a red dot and jumped into normal. 2:1 and 3:1 constantly.

So, yeah, I'm a convert.

But fuck akimbo and marathon, fo' real.
