Modern Warfare 2

I made my shot of the week last night. Derail on Merc Team Deathmatch, and a couple of guys were hiding in the building in the centre of the map. They were taking shots at my team from the windows and getting a few kills. It was a substantial distance I was at (50-odd yards), but I somehow launched a grenade which went through the window on the first floor and took them both out.

To conclude, Danger Close rocks.

Clearly you must be better than you think snoop! :)

Yeah I guess it suits some people more. I like being in a team.

i'm okay, free for all if i get into the swing of things can usually win often enough without too much trouble. team deathmatch i need to play 3-4 games before i get used to the feel of how you have to play differently.

not sure on my stats though, just over 4000 deaths i think and nearly 6000 kills or something around that mark. still not close enough to prestige to look forward to it though :(

My k/d is like 0.8 :( But you know what, it's all good. I'm Rank 38 now and I've been getting much better... I think. I take great pleasure in stingering someone's kill-streak reward before it gets to do anything. :D When I first started playing it I thought kill-streaks were unattainable, beyond the UAVs and package drops. Now I'm calling in Harriers and shii left right and center and it never ends. It.. never .. ends *rocks back and forth* The kills are beginning to stack up.

I guess you could say I'm addicted.

The spot where the operator is hiding will be displayed as a green cross on the killcam so you can go find him whilst he's defenceless and end his streak!

This is a great tip.

It's so funny finding someone lying down playing on their laptop. I was stalking a blip on my heartbeat sensor out in the open on Wasteland, playing it safe in case he was waiting for me to come round the corner. Of course, he was just lying down in the grass, oblivious to the Beretta pointed at his skull.

What the fuck. On the 360, using the C4 detonator makes you put your shield down. What a joke.

Scavenger works differently on PS3 to 360 too. I have played both versions (bought the 360, rented the PS3 to see the differences) and on PS3 you pick up shit with scavenger all the time. On 360 it doesnt appear to be the case, I have dropped claymores and not picked up a fresh one despite walking over bags more times than I care to remember, I'll have to throw a flashbang to make it pick stuff up. On PS3 I seem to pick stuff up even if I havent fired a shot. Very strange.

I feel like I've noticed a change in the 360 one here since the patch.

Previously on Scavenger I'd run over the blue bags and refill my ammo, but now it seems that I only refill what weapon I have in my hand, or something in such a fashion. It's weird as I feel though now I'm having to fiddle about over the blue bags rather than just run over them as I'm passing.

Oh man, been getting into Ground War games. On Afghan, my team got a few Choppers/Harriers in the air so the opposition started huddling in the cave - I set up camp outside the main entrance with my OMA/USG/DCP/Claymore class and started raining noob tubes into the cave, every other shot was a double kill. They tried to charge my position which only ended up in a claymore triple kill for me, they then tried to get out the back of the cave and into the bunker the rest of my team were holding. At this point I called in my Pavelow and ran into the cave to set up a double claymore around the back entrance. They were getting mown down by my Pavelow and had no chance of taking the bunker so retreated back to he cave, only give my claymores the game winning kill. OMA really does make you a One Man Army, utter carnage.

Then played Sub Base and this time our team got absolutely slaughtered for the duration.

It refills everything but will only pickup if what you currently hold is missing ammo. It's always worked that way, on 360 at least.

eg. Fire a noobtube, switch back to gun, walk over blue pack, won't do anything, switch to tube and repeat, will restock everything.

One thing I have noticed that's quite frustrating though is that explosives seem to sometimes not trigger a pack drop, 9/10 a claymore going off will greet me with a nice blue pack to relay it, but sometimes it doesn't. Very frustrating when it happens.

I found that really annoying in my danger close set-up. It wouldn't pick up noob ammo if you switched back to a fully loaded rifle. Best to fire off a couple of rounds I guess.

OMA! I've tried out the alternative and it just doesn't gel with me, I won't deny that the straight line accuracy of an AT4 allows for shots that a UGL would struggle with and it certainly has a larger kill zone but having to move around a lot to collect ammo isn't the optimal playstyle for an explosives build IMO. I like to think of it more as artillery, it can room clear if it has to but mostly it's for supression and to piss them off so much they start trying to rush to get revenge on the "fucking no skill faggot" (one of MANY hate mail I've received :D). I still run pred, harrier, pavelow and the combination of constant artillery strikes (hurfdurf) and a pavelow really can decimate a team.

Yeah the Scavenger pick ups do seem a bit buggy. Surely it's an error? I'd expect it to fill any gaps I've got in my stocks. I've also spent a while searching around dead bodies but not finding the pack - very confusing!

Agreed, I've been messing around with Scavenger instead of OMA, not only do you have to pick up ammo but you have to reload each weapon too (obviously) - with OMA once you've selected your class you're good to go.

Little claymore tip - if you die to someone whilst near a claymore you have put down, always watch the killcam. It only disappears when you finish the killcam or respawn. Got sooo many post-death kills doing this.

I did not know this, that's pretty useful.

It's surprising how unobservant people are, the number of times I've claymore'd one of two doors to a room, had someone walk in the uncovered door, killed me and then watched him walk out the other door OVER my claymore and die anyway is unreal. I've even been killed whilst lighting an insertion, popped back up and seen the guy meandering off away from me. Utterly bizarre.

Here's a good tip for anyone on Quarry.

If you've got a sniper in the upper warehouse window (The one that has the gantry coming out of it down to the central crane bit). To kill them, shoot at the corner of the building on the same level that they're on. Behind the wall are some explosive barrels, or there should be if they've not already been taken out.

I've done this loads of times now, it's so ace to get a barrel kill through the wall.

Great tip indeed. I have a few favourite explosive barrels that get me constant kills. The chain reaction in the corner on quarry, in the bunker on afghan and by the chopper on Highrise.

in case anyone doesnt know, flashbangs set off barrels too

I was taking a pounding on the Rust map for TDM last night, so I climbed the ladder with Martyrdom at the ready and found four rednames up there waiting for me. Party time.

Not the most amazing of anecdotes, I admit, but it made me happy. Why would you even have four up there?

Does anyone actually KNOW how the game decides whether or slash or charge with a knife? The pure randomness of it is doing my fucking head in, sometimes I seem to lunge like a psychopath from 5-10 feet and other times they're within arms reach and I'm just poking around in the air in front of me like a god damn spastic.

Having such weird shit today. Keep throwing grenades/firing rockets etc and they fire, hit, explode but do no damage and I still have them in my inventory. Needing 4+ shots to kill people with full connections as well.

As far as I can see, they must have broken the Ninja perk during one of their fixes. Time after time this afternoon I watched myself being tracked on heartbeat monitors despite having Ninja on all classes.

This crossed my mind last week when several times I was shot the very instant someone came around a corner. Now, I've been killed more that 7,000, so I'm kind of used to how things work, and these instant kills really stood out, and each time I was thinking , "But how?"

Your field of vision is deceptively big too. Again, test it on split screen. There are times when you can be seen quite clearly by the guy coming the other way when you dont think you can if you are not aware of the size of players field of vision. That and the guy coming the other way could have cat-like reflexes.
