Ah, I was wondering that...what happens when you're using air thingummys? Are you always exposed?

Yep, you take out a laptop and for the duration of whatever you're using, you're completely defenceless. It's always best to find some obscure spot behind an obstacle or a quiet part of the map if you want to stay alive- especially for the longer ones like AC130/Chopper Gunner

Well, having been a SCAR boy for some time, I try TAR out and get an 18-1 win with a long old streak :)

And I haven't even tried the burst fire weapons, which I think may suit me better... God, there's too much to do in this game and nowhere near enough time!!

Also on the hack front, there is now a Gamertag mod, so you can have your Gamertag appear as whatever you want. This sounds a bit useless, but the guy we came across had images of the 360 buttons and it said B A B Y Fucker Y X RB LB, and it's kind of distracting when it comes up on your screen. Cool dude.

EDIT: Hey it's in the related videos of the prestige hack vid.

That's damn impressive. Amazing some of the things people are doing with this game.

The GT hack is old. Anyone using it is going to get banned since it involves extraction and decryption of files from your 360 HDD which MS most certainly do not think is reasonable. What a strange thing to do.

What, you looking for cheats? As as side-note, I love how balanced this game is. Every single map, I love how there's one of my custom load-outs that suits me. I love being anti-air. I've only been playing it 16 hours according to the game and i'm rank 40.

Like you I've been faithful to the SCAR for aaaaages. I finally tried the TAR last night, and... WOW it's great. Not *better* than the SCAR, but... different. It feels less powerful (the SCAR feels like it could punch bullets through feet of concrete), but I really liked the fire rate, the iron sights and the recoil was really not bad at all. Clocked several people in the Bunker on Afghan from miles away, and it seems to have the same power as the SCAR, just fires faster and feels lighter. Very nice.

I dunno if this is common knowledge but its worth watching the killcam if you are killed by an ac130 or chopper gunner.

The spot where the operator is hiding will be displayed as a green cross on the killcam so you can go find him whilst he's defenceless and end his streak!

Somebody the other day said the EMP stopped Stingers working and was a good thing to use when your AC etc was up.

Well, uh, yeah, I just happily shot one down while EMPed, so that was wrong.

stops em locking on apparently. you can still fire em. Maybe you just hit it with a good shot?

Ok so I have a question / theory for all you muckers. I think my major problem when playing the game (well, one of the many) is concentration. If you're not fully on the game you die. or at least I do. Now... I noticed a while back that if I tried a new weapon and was just using the iron sights I seemed to do quite well... then of course you get the red dot or the holo and swap. Ahhh it's so much easier.... But I wonder if that was lulling me into a false sense of security. So easy to try and snip with the FAMAS or the ACR that i'd become very cautious and often find myself easy prey for people.

I may be alone in this but once i prestiged yesterday I decided to try both the FAMAS and SCAR with just the iron sights and not put any kind of scope on... see if it made any difference. And so far at least my K:D has been easily 3/1 if not higher every game. I genuinely believe it's because using the iron sights forces me to concentrate more because it's harder. It also changes my game somewhat. I can't just sit there and try and snipe off people i'm having to run round a lot more and think a little more tactically because I can't make those loooong shots any more. Somehow it being harder to see makes me play better.

Anyone else found this with the iron sights? It might just be because i've been playing well today and tomorrow i'll be getting my ass handed to me, but I think I might have hit on something...?

does make a strange kind of sense. If you have to concentrate more it might filter into the rest of your game. Truth is though that this is a tough game to stay alive in. With the massive variety of playstyles out there sooner or later you'll come up against someone who has the scissors to your paper.

Level 20 and really fucking shit at this game :( This is the first time I've really played an online shooter and I'm consistently getting pounded. I'm playing Free-For-All at the moment through fear of other people getting pissed at my crap skills... any tips people?

Well, I'm certainly not of the level of folks like Kerraig and Timmo and after a pretty disastrous start I'm now almost always ending with a positive ratio. Be patient. Stick to a loadout that seems to work for you and go from there. Don't go rushing in, take your time to learn the levels and find good spots. Make sure your back is covered, either by someone else or by something in the environment. Keep an eye on the radar to see where your team mates are and where enemies are firing from. And use Cold Blooded as a perk, it will keep you safe from gunships and the like, so you don't have to worry about those.

Predicting what people will do gets me most of my good matches. If you have your gun trained on someone you expect to see, you'll pretty much always get that kill. Some maps have very predictable places with foot traffic than you can get a couple of quick easy kills and then move onto another vantage point or spot. I've got a couple of personal hot spots on each map that always net me a reliable advantage before it becomes too quiet/hot

Currently my favourite spot in the entire game is around the top of the 'chute' at the south end of Quarry. People will always try and come up there, and it's such a turkey shoot. I see them trying to edge round the corner, unaware that their ankles are exposed under the huge gas cylinders. And when things go quiet, you can go round to that whole in the fence and take pot shots at people down the bottom of the map or in the big hangar opposite.

Don't play FFA. Play mercenary team deathmatch, you'll fare better when not everyone is against you.

fuck that, free for all! it's where you learn how to be aware, and on team death you have a far more likely chance of running into and having more than 1-2 people shooting at you.

it's good to find a balance between playing the two, i only really play team deathmatch with clan people otherwise it's free for all all the way, maybe a bit of capture the flag or headquarters

I had a classic last night that I just have to tell someone about.

I was shooting away at that top window in Quarry, (A map I hate with a passion), the little sniper was jinking back and forth between the window and wall,

Mean while, I was basically being surrounded by enemies, as I'm so unaware of them they sit patiently watching me shoot at this window... Then one of them starts shooting at me, and I duck behind some "Rock" cover, my health plumets, and I think "I'm dead then"

Predictably, I'm dead within seconds, but I watch the killcam anyway... (it was a bit of a shock to me, as the bullet seemed to come from behind)

Oh no, someone had thrown a grenade, it had bounced off the wall behind me, and hit me on the head, killing me dead before it exploded.

Classic.. And the pity is whoever did it probably doesn't know how it happened.

No, for anyone who is getting knocked about by the game FFA isn't the way to start, definitely TDM. But move into FFA as soon as possible, personally I find it much more fun.

I think that the real key is to just not care about how many times you get killed - in fact, you should welcome it. Every time you get smoked it's an opportunity to learn how the game is played well, through the kill cams. More than anything, they teach you where the sweet map spots are.

In the early stages, unless you'e naturally great at the game (or played loads of COD 4 I suppose), dying is what it's all about. Until you have a working knowledge of the maps you are at a huge disadvantage, so any halfway decent results are a bonus.

Here's a good tip for anyone on Quarry.

If you've got a sniper in the upper warehouse window (The one that has the gantry coming out of it down to the central crane bit). To kill them, shoot at the corner of the building on the same level that they're on. Behind the wall are some explosive barrels, or there should be if they've not already been taken out.

I've done this loads of times now, it's so ace to get a barrel kill through the wall.

This. It's been said many times before but FFA is not the place to start out. Somehow everyone does though and gets a kicking.
