I appear to be quite boring with my loadouts. I've resolutely stuck with the M16A4 with grenade launcher & FMJ, AA12 shotgun with Grip & FMJ, and frags & flash. Perks are Bling, Stopping Power, and Ninja.

I use this loadout for ALL maps. I have one other load out exactly the same as above except swapping the AA12 for a Stinger.

Try one of the other builds floating around this thread. Variety being the spice of life and all that.

I used a typical CoD 4 build for my entire first prestige, and got a bit bored towards the end. For this prestige I've been only using new builds, such as Danger Close, OMA, and Ripper, and I've been enjoying the game a lot more as a result.

I have 590 kills with the AT-4 launcher now :D

That's a nice class. For some variation, try a class the same as above, but without the FMJ and replacing Bling with Scavenger or One Man Army. What you lost in the FMJ, you may find you'd make up with replenishable grenades (either by picking up packages from Scavenger, or switching back to that class with OMA).

Can someone reccomend me a good sniper load out? I don't know exactly what I've got but am Level 39 iirc.

I think it would make a real change of pace from my FAMASathon.

Barrett. AA-12 or Pistol as secondary.

Perks: Slight of Hand (might want Bling once you unlock a few attachments for Silencer + FMJ). Scavenger works well too with claymores, scavenge the bodies of people who die to your claymores so you can replace them. Stopping Power, Steady Aim (you really need the Pro version for sniping).

Use claymores for your equipment. Smoke works well as a secondary if you have the thermal sight on.

My sniper class is:

M21 EBR Silenced

AA12 Shotgun w/Grip

Claymores

Stuns

Sleight of Hand Pro

Stopping Power Pro

Steady Aim Pro (hold breath longer)

Got some good results with that, depends heavily on the map/how the other team are playing though.

I've got the Pro perks of all the ones you listed, so that sounds good.

Whenever I've been docked by a Barrett, on the killcam it looks like it kicks up by two feet after you shoot! I take it if I miss I'm scuppered!

Only having one claymore is a bit of a pisser with that sniper build. You have to pick a camping spot and stick to it. Then again, Scavenger would be a waste because your kills would be too distant to retrieve the goodies.

My mate the good idea of having two One Many Army classes, one with a sniper build, and one you can switch to when you want to relocate. Then you can safely move from spot to spot as the action moves, and set up a claymore wherever you settle.

Only problem with that (and it's a biggie) is the lack of a sidearm if someone comes for you.

You learn to control the kick. If the kick is messing you up, use the Intervention instead. The M21 is ace if you've unlocked it too. The Intervention doesn't kick like the Barrett, but has a much slower rate of fire, so if you miss you have to wait a lot longer to shoot again. Its clip also has only 5 bullets compared to the Barrett's 10.

You retrieve the goodies from the people who die to your claymore. Means that you can always have a claymore up.

Yeah, totally. The claymore is literally there to cover my back or to leave somewhere inconvenient as I get set up.

I've found that I often get stuck in an action-free zone when I set up camp, so no-one comes for me. I'd like to be able to move about the level and leave a fresh claymore behind me.

I do have the M21, is that preferable to the Barrett?

I prefer it purely because you can get shots off faster because of the minimal recoil, so if you're not a aiming robot like a lot of people seem to be you can hit and kill with your second or third shot.

Cheers for the suggestions, guys. I never wanted to try the Ripper or Dog Raper simply because I hate them when I'm killed by them, however I'll give OMA and Danger Close a play with just to stop this game from going stale.

When it comes to levelling up:

Is it better to stick with one gun until you have all the equipment and beaten all the challenges for the gun?

or

Is it better to get all the lower-level challenges on a wide range of guns?

I tend to stick with one gun because of gamer OCD but am I missing a trick in doing this? It feels wrong to move up to the FAL when I'm still working on the FAMAS challenges etc

I'm around level 35 or so now, really hit a crap run of form ever since I finished the FAMAS challenges and started messing around with different loadouts.

The spawning in this can be pretty unfair at times. I've had countless deaths where it's spawned me right into the action, I turn for about a second to get my bearings and I'm facing an enemy or two :(

The maps are big enough to not always stick you so dangerously close to the action at times

Agreed, this happens to me too now and again. I've spawned behind an enemy with his back turned to me though, so the unfairness works both ways.

Last night I died twice in the same air strike!

Playing domination, I was near C (I think they had A and B ) and got hit by the air strike. I pressed the button to spawn instantly, and died in pretty much exactly the same place from the same airstrike. Grrrr.

Dunno if this has been posted already, but do you think IW will listen to colour blind gamers? I do struggle sometimes in TDM knowing opposition players. I usually just go off their player model and if they don't have their name above them all the time. Changing the colours to ble and orange or something would help and can't be that hard to patch!

Ok so I have a question / theory for all you muckers. I think my major problem when playing the game (well, one of the many) is concentration. If you're not fully on the game you die. or at least I do. Now... I noticed a while back that if I tried a new weapon and was just using the iron sights I seemed to do quite well... then of course you get the red dot or the holo and swap. Ahhh it's so much easier.... But I wonder if that was lulling me into a false sense of security. So easy to try and snip with the FAMAS or the ACR that i'd become very cautious and often find myself easy prey for people.

I may be alone in this but once i prestiged yesterday I decided to try both the FAMAS and SCAR with just the iron sights and not put any kind of scope on... see if it made any difference. And so far at least my K:D has been easily 3/1 if not higher every game. I genuinely believe it's because using the iron sights forces me to concentrate more because it's harder. It also changes my game somewhat. I can't just sit there and try and snipe off people i'm having to run round a lot more and think a little more tactically because I can't make those loooong shots any more. Somehow it being harder to see makes me play better.

Anyone else found this with the iron sights? It might just be because i've been playing well today and tomorrow i'll be getting my ass handed to me, but I think I might have hit on something...?

I had a proper LOL moment last night! I was playing free for all on wasteland, what I like to do on this map is 'patrol' the outside of the map and take out the dirty snipers. I found one hidden in a skip, so I threw a Semtex grenade in the skip. At the exact same time it'd left my hand, he popped his head up and it stuck on his face. BOOM! Would have loved to have seen the kill cam!

Well I don't know whether it's about concentration but I just prefer using the iron sights full stop. The only sights I occasionally use ACOG for Afgan or Wasteland but even then I don't tend to bother.

It's all to do with respect for the opposition. You're absolutely right that you can get too comfortable. I do it all the time. I get a 10 streak and then I start thinking my reactions are better than everyone else, and I'm a better player. I'm not, it's just that most of the time I'm really careful and play expecting to die at every encounter. With this attitude, I make sure that I see them before they see me by whatever means, giving me a massive advantage. I seem to meander between these two mental states. Basically, the more respect I give my opposition the better I play.

Predicting what people will do gets me most of my good matches. If you have your gun trained on someone you expect to see, you'll pretty much always get that kill. Some maps have very predictable places with foot traffic than you can get a couple of quick easy kills and then move onto another vantage point or spot. I've got a couple of personal hot spots on each map that always net me a reliable advantage before it becomes too quiet/hot

What mostly gets me killed is getting a predator and trying to get to a safe place to use it or just risking it in that area with foot traffic nearby! Loads of times I come back from using it and I've been respawned! That's me being dumb and really eager to get my harrier/chopper out
