good to hear about the 1887's, but I was really hoping they'd be as bold as to move lightweight perk into class 1 so you could only take marathon OR lightweight, not both together. Guess that was a bit too much to hope for.

According to the stats Lightweight only adds a 10% boost to your speed, which sounds like pure shit when compared to the perks it's competing with.

Apparently the patch that fixed the Javelin glitch, reduced Lightweight to only a 7% boost.

Yeah marathon is my main complaint to be honest. it just breaks the realism to think a soldier carrying 30kg's of equipment could run forever. Cod4 gave you double sprint time if you took the marathon perk, which made it great for rushing bases and stuff, without the added effect of ruining realism and arcading up the whole experience.

i'd even be ok with the akimbo 1887's if marathon was nerfed because those carrying them wouldnt be able to get all up in your grill so quickly without it

Marathon adds a whole level of tactical variety that CoD 4 never had. So does danger close, and commando. Personally I'm glad about it, CoD was never meant to be an ultra-realistic shooter, I always saw the perk system as an attempt to make it sort of Team Fortress-esque. They failed at it in CoD 4 by making some of the less conventional perks far too weak, and now they've sorted it people moan and want to take it back to CoD 4's Stopping Power, M16, Martyrdom. CoD 4 was about as tactically deep as a puddle when it came to the perk system, I'm really happy about the way you have real options and choices in MW2 when it comes to perks and killstreaks.

The akimbo 1887s wouldn't be fixed without marathon, they're still deadly accurate at 30 yards.

Of course it would be nice if IW added the option for fully custom games so that those who want to can fool about with infinite ammo etc. I expect there will be people looking for new hacks incase they've not properly fixed the glitch and just papered over the cracks.

IW need to add the ability to search / join random private matches. They never will though. :(

I agree on the whole, and like I say, i'd be perfectly happy if you could choose marathon OR lightweight. but the two together just make it a bit too Quakey for my liking, and if we're to nerf one of em i'd have nerfed marathon before lightweight. The marathon perk on cod4 was still very handy, and I always used it at the start of domination. I just think unlimited sprint is a bit too powerful.

The variety and tactical depth added to this new game is mind boggling, and its fantastic that with so much variety there is so little balancing needed, but I do think M+LW is one of the balance issues needing to be looked at. I doubt akimbo 1887's would be able to get within 30 yards of anyone of they couldnt run non stop.

I do much prefer the greater range of styles MW2 affords. I never even touched Marathon in COD4, but I love it on MW2. But then again, I only use it on one class. In fact, I use every perk in slot 1 across my classes except for One May Army. That's balance.

re: Marathon and Lightweight. You need them in different slots or its kinda pointless that Lightweight even exists. One of the biggest strengths of Lightweight is that it enables you to catch somebody who is sprinting. You are giving up your weapon pimping and damage increasing perk in order to gain that benefit. Its quite balanced.

On the odd time I've been 1887ing it, I've used neither leightweight OR marathon. They're broken guns.

Then again I uaully play TDM, and the lgihtweight/marathon combo relatively useless for that. On capture the flag it seems a little overpowered definitely.

Lightweight pro is crazy, though. It brings up your gun quicker. How many times do you catch someone spriting or vice versa? The person not sprinting will ALWAYS win a 50-50. Lightweight gives the sprinting person a chance.

Now, I watched the WingsOfRedemption video about getting some use out of Scrambler by mixing it with a heartbeat sensor to lure people in, but I still think it's by far the worst perk.

Not only can you tell when someone using it is close, you can tell how close by the amount of static on your radar. I love it when I see someone using in the opposing team, as it's like an early warning system.

The only reason I can think for using it is for the Pro feature of delaying claymores. Even then, the downside of the primary functon would put me right off.

On the flip side, I use One Man Army in all my class slots...

Class 1: Scar + silencer + OMA + SP + Ninja

Class 2: Scar + silencer + OMA + CB + Ninja

Class 3: Tar + noob tube + OMA + Danger Close + Sitrep

Class 4: FAMAS + HBS + OMA + Hardline + Scrambler

Class 5: UMP + silencer + OMA + SP + Ninja

At the start of a domination round I pick Class 5, and use the longer sprint time and faster base speed of a SMG class to get where I want to be (in behind them as they rush to capture). Once in place, I might switch to Class 1.

If they launch a UAV or air support, I switch to Class 2. If I want to defend a capture point from afar, Class 3 is awesome. If I want to stay around a flag and confuse them, I choose Class 4 (at a capture point they now you'll be there, so scrambler is useful -especially with HBS).

My kill steaks are Predator, Harrier and Pavelow. If I get 5 kills, an evil thing to do is to switch to Class 4 (has hardline). Then my Predator only needs one kill to trigger a Harrier. Then I could switch to Class 3 (Danger Close Pro) so the harrier bombs and gun have the best chance of getting the Pavelow. I can't be bothered to do this often, but in a tight match, crap like this really helps.

In a game of domination, especially on a multi-tiered level, it has its uses. Like at B on Skidrow. If your team has B, then the other side know someone on your team will be around there.

It is a useless perk to rush with, but it has its uses for defending a busy spot.

I'm a huge fan of Ninja Pro for silent movement. Sitrep Pro sounds awesome, but destroying 120 pieces of enemy equipment is a joke of a Pro requirement compared to some of the others.

CoD4 had a perk to increase explosive damage too. (i can't for the life of me remember what it was called though  )

It was nowhere near as good in CoD 4. Partly because it didn't increase them as much, and partly because there was no Scavenger or OMA in CoD 4, so once you'd used your explosives that was it, you had to wait until you died to get more.

I appear to be quite boring with my loadouts. I've resolutely stuck with the M16A4 with grenade launcher & FMJ, AA12 shotgun with Grip & FMJ, and frags & flash. Perks are Bling, Stopping Power, and Ninja.

I use this loadout for ALL maps. I have one other load out exactly the same as above except swapping the AA12 for a Stinger.

Interesting. If you switch to Hardline whilst you have 6 kills do you get the Harrier?

No. The next kill triggers it.

But... if your streaks are UAV, Counter UAV and Predator, then this occurs:

3rd kill: UAV

switch to hardline class

4th Kill: Counter UAV and Predator awarded.
