Modern Warfare 2

RPD is not one of the worst at all! It's very very similar to the CoD4 version, which was the best gun in that game.

I agree, it's high rate of fire and power make it very forgiving, if your accuracy, like mine is crap! :-) Plus the magazine sizes come in very handy, especially when you're flanking and come up against 2 or 3 opponents.

I really wish this game would have more in depth stats and online stat tracking. I'd love to know things like, how many kills with each weapon, which weapon has killed me the most, time spent running/crounching/prone etc. It'd be especially good for an iPhone App like WaW had. I'd really really love to see a graph showing how much I've imroved over the last month or so. Would it be possible for them to add this in an update or is there no chance?

Speaking of WAW, I'm also wondering what Treyarch will be next year(if it sticks to the current pattern of each developer releasing every 2 years)? Surely WWII etc have been done to death?

I still have my "ripper" knife running kit even though I hardly ever use it now. USP .45 handgun with a tactical knife, marathon pro, lightweight pro, stopping power pro. Claymore.

Would it be a crazy idea to make the weapon in my primary slot a Barrett 50 cal? You can run at the same speed with a sniper rifle as you can with a submachine gun (you run more slowly if you take a rifle or LMG) and the Ghillie suit looks kinda cool and I guess could come in really handy. You dont need stopping power with the Barrett as far as I am aware (head, chest and gut shots are 1 hit kills regardless) and as somebody who never uses the sniper weapons this might be the best way of bringing them into my game. Any thoughts?

Okay, I fired the game up for the first time since this post. Tried the change a couple of times on FFA, on Rundown and on Scrapyard. Two maps I like, I have to say. Optimistic Killstreaks of Predator Missile, Harrier and AC 130.

Went 17-3 on my first FFA. Finished second. It was one of those games where everything was slow. Pissed off as I got denied my 11 kill streak by a guy who was set up as my anti class. Scrambler Pro & a rifle with Holographic and Heartbeat sensor. Nailed me in the back on 10 after being immune to my claymore because of Scrambler Pro.

Went 30-10 on the second game. Got killed by weight of numbers on 6 kills, had three people all shooting at me. Had a real run of shite spawns, then went on a killstreak. Nailed my 11th kill for the AC 130, and the game ended. It was also my 30th kill which was the game winner.

Ill get an AC 130 soon though. Surely.

With the grip it is very very accurate and powerful at long range, too. In 4 it was brilliant for killing snipers, perhaps a little less effective now for that though. I think there are better guns in this one (even within the LMG class I really like the LSW or whatever it is called, the british one), but I still have a place in my heart for it.

The M16 and RPD, the two best guns in their class in the previous game, are pretty much identical to how they were in CoD4, whereas the other guns in the class have been made a lot better in MW2. The ACR is an infinitely more accurate M4, and the TAR21 and SCAR are better AK47s. I'd say aside from the AK, M4 and F2000, the rifles are pretty much all on a par. (A good enough player can use the FAL without stopping power). The balancing is amazing.

CoD4 had a habit of becoming an M16fest.

I haven't really used it, I stand corrected. Soi said something about sway above, and I took his word for it.

Give it a try, I think you'd like it with a silencer on, for tapping shots at range it's similiar to a SCAR and with it's ROF and clip size it's going to win up close, excellent sights too.

You remember how every gun swayed slightly during ADS? We all compensated, of course, but they removed it completely from MW2, presumably because the average encounter distance has risen and they wanted it to be more accessable, a shame, but understandable. The AK still has that sway in attempt to balance it, and it probably does a good job for the people they wanted to be able to get into it, but I feel it's the clear winner for CoD veterans.

e: That didn't really come out right, of course you know what idle sway is, basically what I'm saying is CoD 4 R700 it is not.

Never too late for gun chat! I'm going to give the FAL another try next prestige, being able to use hardline/jammer with a rifle is going to be fun, right now a hardline UMP build is my favourite "can't really be fucked to try just going to get lots of care packages" build.

#MW2 Update in Test now: 1887s Balanced.

Thank fuck for that. As more people have got wise to these it's ruined many games for me-I've seen kill games where someone has used 1887 akimbos and killed me with one shot, off target chasing me round a corner from about 40 feet away.

Hopefully they will reduce the range and/or remove the ability to Akimbo of those guns. 62 and climbing for me, they will probably be nerfed before I even unlock then. (sadface.jpg)

I had some rounds tonight using the Riot Shield which ended up in me not getting a many kills at all, plenty of deaths, but a lot of fun and a real change in pace. Plenty of points too. The Riot shield can be a hoot if you have a mate who will work with you. You cant die from bullets if you are crouched down and not moving. I had a Harrier shooting the fuck out of me for ages and my Riot Shield blocked every single bullet. Blast Shield up and you cant die from explosions. You are essentially moveable cover. Every time a guy who is shooting at you gets killed by one of your team mates you get points. I think you get points just for soaking up damage too, I got +50 four times while the Harrier was unloading into me.

If you can find a decent pinch point and you plant yourself down then you really can change the dynamic of the fight. If you have a mate who will make sure you dont get flanked then you can have another mate standing behind you shooting away to his hearts content. Its not something I would want to do all the time, but I'd definitely recommend it for a giggle if you are playing on a tight map. I had success with it on Sub Base and Quarry.

Scrapyard works well with the riot shield too. Lots of narrow doorways at objectives.

Also good for objective games where someone on the other side has setup a sentry gun to defend the Base/HQ/Capture point. You can just lead a march on up to it with your team-mates behind you.

Throwing knife is a good accompaniment to it, I find.

Yeah i was doing this in terminal just wandering out into the open with those long corridors taking a few shots before my teammates popped out and poked holes in them. I had 1/2 of these guys who were following behind me every so often, always the same guys willing to capitalise on the enemy's panic.

In other news, i just legitimately got the 'Did you see that?' Title and Emblem! Approaching the flag nearest the plane entrance and two guys sitting there, one had thrown a flash and while i was blinded just hurled the knife at their position and got a kill! I'm wearing the 'Silence' title with pride now!

Changed my killstreaks last night to: Predator Missile, Harrier Strike and then AC-130.

As soon as I did that it all just came together.

Sniper with G18/silencer along with Claymore and Scavanger to ensure new Claymores once people blow themselves up on them. Nice quiet position and it's blam, blam, blam, blam, blam, missile, blam, airstrike, blam, blam, blam, AC130 BOOM BOOM BOOM BOOM BOOM

It's fucking ace!

That gun chart and the recoil pics show how powerful the harder-hitting LMGs are with the grip. With no damage drop off over distance, an LMG with Stopping Power, a grip and some kind of scope or FMJ is a lethal long-range weapon.

I love coming around a corner and knowing you have *just* enough time to kill one before the commando stab hits. Happens far too infrequently though

I've taken to picking up 1887s whenever I kill someone who has them to have a go as I'll never reach lv67 or whatever it is before they 'fix' them.

i sidestepped a commando shank earlier, god-like reflexes it felt like! sidestep and shank in the head, nightnight ;D

Being ready for a Commando knife-attack is so rewarding. Took out three of them with the AA-12 on Skidrow after the opposition switched to Rippers, they switched back to 'regular' classes right away :D

#MW2 Update in Test now: 1887s Balanced. Public "private" Match fix. Infinite Ammo fix. Prestige Hack on PS3 fix. Texture Hack on PC fix.

Interesting. RIP custom public match-ruining games.

Corrected.

Of course it would be nice if IW added the option for fully custom games so that those who want to can fool about with infinite ammo etc. I expect there will be people looking for new hacks incase they've not properly fixed the glitch and just papered over the cracks.
