I broadly agree with that sentiment, but by the sound of things the unlimited ammo thing is different. I'm about to spend a quick half hour playing FFA, I don't want to have to bugger around navigating grenade firefights to do so.

As for the online aspect, it's quite another topic entirely, butbthe anonimity and the lack of any real regulation regarding who you play online is a worrying aspect to consider.

... I personally feel that the issues presented within the game and the possible online problems are far more of a concern that the ability to kill 25 avatars without dying.

What is the worrying aspect? What online problems?

Finally managed to distil my point (you can tell it's been a long term when it takes me this long to actually realise what in thinking):

MW2 trivialises something that shouldn't (in my opinion) be trivialised. The use of killstreaks only reinforces this and no matter what skill this may entail, kids are unable to understand the wider social and cultural references and indeed the emotional impact beyond the game and only recognise the game as a way of humiliating others. For that I dislike the game, but clearly it's not the only one to do so, but the scale of this game, it's content and sheer volume of the audience (as well as my job) means that I haven't really hadnto face these issues before.

Or it's just that I'm getting grumpy because the game is populated with children who are better at it than me.

I find the idea of children being virtually killed by adults a bit odd, but this might just be me. This inturn feeds a weird kind of relationship that has no basis for mutual respect, rather one that is almost based entirely around violence and power.

That and ya know, paedos. Obviously.

I simply don't understand this game - sometimes I can play like my thumbs are immovable lumps of stone, and other times - like tonight - every single hit you make seems to land. My rinsing of Domination and FFA maps was ridiculous. No reason I can account for it, but I was just in the zone.

My highlight had to be Scrapyard. I was defending B and had a good well hidden spot. Must have killed about 8 or 9 of them in a couple of minutes (in reality I just 2 or 3 very foolish people that kept coming back and getting killed over and over) out comes my chopper so they ALL rush into the house by C. When the chopper ends they ALL try to rush B again. They assume i'll be inside waiting for them. I wasn't I was by the loading bay - watching 5 people run sideways directly into my crosshairs - like a conveyer belt of holt bullety death! Just so much fun.

Especially as I know tomorrow I will no doubt miss every person I fire at and end up wanting to throw my controller through the window!

Totally changing the subject, What was this "danger close" kit out, that was mentioned earlier in the thread? and seems to be getting some love from people giving it a whirl.

(I tried to scan back a good couple of pages but seem unable to find it.)

Danger close perk (+splodes) and then an assault rifle with grenade lancher and an at4 which makes the biggest boom in the game. Then blow the baddies up.

Oh and claymores to leave them presents, like santa... or a poorly trained pet.

So people want to spend their time racking up easy kills on their friends. Fine, it doesn't actually make any difference to me.

They're not stopping me or anyone else from playing the game.

They do when they call in the nuke

But for the most part I've always had enjoyable games more or less (apart from lag)

Had a particularly good night tonight! Up to 10:1 KDR's for a few of the matches, but I have a lot of bad nights too which is why the gap between my kills and deaths is something like 5100 kills, 3800 deaths. I think I've settled into my fave ever class- ACR with FMJ, TMP with FMJ (want extended mags for this!)claymore/flash, scav pro, stopping power pro and ninja pro. I love it. Killstreak is Preadator, Harrier and Pavelow which is a lot of fun to get in quick succession.

I'm starting to really enjoy hardcore. I have to say the hardline perk really shines there since stopping power is no longer a necessity. 2 Kills for a uav and they count for so much more. I found myself rebuilding half my classes to better make use of them, out go silencers and stoppingpower, in come heartbeat sensors, hardline and cold blooded.

Funny how you've settled for the pocket version of the acr (like the way the rafrika is the handheld version of the M16!)

The SCAR pisses me off. I needed to get my 300 kills with it for the 10000 XP and boy was it painful. I had happily got 250 or so kills with it when I first got the game, but I have hardly touched it since. Having to reload after virtually every encounter? Its horrible. Especially as we were stuck playing a team who's tactic was to walk around in a huge group. If encountered, then the best you could hope for its to take one with you before getting killed from the hail of bullets. (and I still like to flank, so it happened to me all the time) My K/D took a hell of a kicking because of that gun. I have my 300 kills and 10,000XP, Ill never use it again.

M4 to do next, I quite like that. The only other gun that I have within decent range of the 300 kill mark is the M16, once that is done I can revert to tinkering with my two favourite rifles, the ACR (:wub:) and the FAMAS.

I am also coming around to the theory that fully automatic rifles really dont need stopping power. Burst rifles almost certainly do, but I have had a lot of success with the ACR + Scavenger Pro, Cold Blooded Pro & Ninja Pro. I can take an anti air weapon instead of a sidearm with that kit too. Still dicking around with which attachment to put on my ACR. I am happy with the Iron Sights, so I can stick a silencer on it. I might make my "loud" kit have FMJ's though. Do they really make that much of a difference?

I've recently been using FMJ with my ACR- since I like the iron sights, suck with the noob toob and don't like the reduced range/power with the silencer. It's excellent- the fast rate of fire and high accuracy mean if someone does duck back behind a wall or obstacle, it's real easy to finish them off. It just feels unstoppable once you spot someone and let your eyes follow them knowing that you can get them even if they duck under a window or something.

For the most part, they don't. Either high power (Scar/Tar 21) or fast rate of fire (ACR) mean the automatics don't really need stopping power. For me though, I've had too many encounters where that little bit of extra damage would have made the difference between life and death- being on a low clip or running into multiple enemies, so I've always gone back to it

Does FMJ work through sandbags? I seem to have no problem killing people through walls, but as soon as they go behind a sandbag on something like Downtown (?) I never get them.

Yes. Like on Domination Point C on Rundown with the building overlooking the flag, you can shoot through the sandbags there- well I saw it the wingsofredemption dude die there, he even metioned it in the video

Just got 1000 kills with the M4 for the 20k XP from normal + prestige challenges and it took me ages (people can get more XP from a single game :(). I spray too much, so I needed Scavenger and Stopping Power on permanently just to escape from a firefight with a couple of kills. I'll probably never use the M4 again so maybe I shouldn't have bothered.

I feel your SCAR reloading pain too, it's so tempting to just unload on someone.

ACR with silencer is great for close to medium range- it gets a bit shit for futher away though because of the amount of shots it takes to down someone. Non silenced ACR can pretty much snipe across the map accurately and take someone down fast

I find it fine to be honest. Though I wont use it if I intend to try and hold a building and fire out of windows, and I certainly wont try to get myself involved in any sniping battles with it. Yes, you do have those moments with a silencer when you are frustrated by the guy who is just out of range, but you are never appearing as a red dot on anybodies screen when you fire so you are gaining so much more freedom to move around the map. Like I implied earlier though, I have a "quiet" assault rifle kit and a "loud" assault rifle kit. I dont ever feel like I have a peashooter when I have a silencer and cold blooded on, but I am more than happy to switch to an ACOG and stopping power if I think I need a bit more range.

Played some Irish boys last night and just before the game started one of them said "We're gonna rape you."

"Really ? Thats a bit of a gay thing to say. Have you been in prison ?" was my reply.

True enough they did beat us by about 10 kills. Just before the next game started I get a message from the guy in 1st place on their team.

"Did you enjoy the rape?"

They continued to giggle and call me out about my name. "Ya fookin' clown."

I'd love to say I then managed to turn things around and beat them but they gubbed us again, and again. Everytime while not exactly cheating, using snidey tactics against a team made up of far less experienced players and generally being dicks about it in the lobby afterwards.

It used to be Halo that brought out the worst in people but we have a new winner. Why can't people just be nice ?

Because the vast majority of people arent nice. God I'm such a cynic nowadays. Xbox Live by its competetive nature brings out the worst in people?

I swear the people who play this have only become more psychic and terrifying since I started. Yesterday on the kill cam I watched some guy casually stroll around a corner on Favela, very deliberately raise his grenade launcher and arc a shot into a bus-stop at the very far end of the level, which I just happened to be running past as it exploded, but from around the corner where he couldn't see me. How, Turok, how?

I've only just got this game and have played <10 online matches. Last night I was in a team deathmatch lobby when somehow it changed to Free for all. Except there were still teams, but you could kill people on your own team. Everyone was spawn killing and running around firing constantly. In short it was mayhem and not in a good way.

I hope they fix this soon. I didn't get any of this shit with COD4.

I got two great final kill cams last night. The first was on Skidrow where I ran into the courtyard building from the dangy ally, knifing a guy on the stairs before running into the sniper room and knifing a guy camping on the window. I did both kills in such short space that the end game cam replayed them both. Bam double knife action.

The second was pure luck, the timer was running out on the match in Rundown, so I lobbed my frag over towards the bridge from near the hay barn. Bam, last kill. The end game cam shows my frag landing perfectly at a guys feet as he was rushing the bridge hoping for a final kill.

I just missed out on getting one on Subbase as well. The count down timer was on and I was on a roll with my knife kit. I ran and jumped off the roof above where the forklift is. As I was falling I managed to steer on to a rushing enemies head and pressed my knife. The swipe action began and the swoosh sound played. But I didn't get the kill. One of my team mates was in the forklift room and ended the match with a scruffy looking gun spray. Gutted about that one.
