Why? It's cassidy's decision, as his father, whether he thinks it right to allow his 13 y/o son to play it. None of your business.

Thanks for that constructive disection of the issue at hand. If you want to be pedantic, what the fuck has it got to do with you that it's got nothing to do with me? Cassidy's post barely had anything to do with the issue at hand and based on his reply, I felt it's a shame that his 13 year old thinks that it's an amazing achievement to 'nuke' some strangers on a videogame.

Or are we not allowing the posting of opinions now, given thatbits none of my business?

Let me clarify. I'm saying you should stick your "unreal" up your arse.

If I was to edit out the "unreal" from my original reply, would it please you? Make you less of a confrontational and objectionable chap? Maybe even facilitate some kind of spark that allowed you to reply with a small element of discussion to address the issue you found grievance with?

Thought not.

The hacks don't require a modified console, just a transfer cable, a few programs on your PC and a fair bit of knowledge. The people that do them hack for fun, they're not going to put tutorials out on youtube like the elevator idiots.

I love nuke boosters, they're free kills, I've not been nuked in ages now unless it was legit because they're so easy to spot and stop.

I don't understand why everyone is crying about cheaters, there are no cheaters. Every single glitch and/or exploit provides an even playing field. Everyone has infinite ammo, everyone can play domination on Rust, etc etc. You're not XP boosting through these games, the XP for an hour long Rust domination isn't significantly higher than an hours worth of normal domination unless you absolutely hammer them, but I can get 10k in a normal domination game with absolute hammering also so it's still quite close.

The infinite ammo games give shit XP, I get more kills in a normal game typically, they're just fun. The only way you can get a lot of XP from them is with an AC-130 on a small map with 18 players, assuming every person on the other team is a mouth breathing retard.

Real boosting involves shooting riot shields over and over in S&D. It involves no glitches of any kind. I did it for one round and it's boring as shit. An hour of normal play doesn't feel like an hour, it's fun, I'm happy to level like that. If they want to boost, fair play to them, it's hardly cheating.

I think you'll find you were the one being confrontational and objectionable, not to mention judgmental and condescending, towards cassidy.

His post was clearly a light-hearted attempt to defend the legitimate use of the nuke and support its inclusion in the game on that basis. Having said you "don't want to come over all Daily Mail here", you then proceeded to do just that, in an attempt to quash his friendly tale of his son's achievement with your petty outrage. Well done.

I'd normally say that IW should punish the cheaters, but with this glitch I don't think they can. I've been in a few of these matches. I left as soon as I noticed, but still, if there's any sort of record, then I'd be on it.

I suppose you could look at the stats and trap anyone that's levelled up quickly, but I doubt that they'd be able to really handle a task like that. The numbers are huge.

I suppose this is something that over time will even itself out, fix the glitches and let everyone carry on. Eventually we'll all be high prestige and things will be normal. The leaderboards will probably forever be screwed though, maybe they should reset them every month and have more of a current representation of play, that way all past glitching will have no part in the world rankings.

They could possibly reset the glitched 10th prestiges by setting up some code that looks at their titles. There are some that are unlocked automatically when you hit certain prestiges but these guys can't get them. It's quite funny how they've got their little 10th prestige icon but still have the title you start with.

The Daily Mail mention was entirely self-referential.

And I can't quite believe that you're so worked up about the 'achievement' of a child 'getting a nuke'.

I'll ask you a simple question unrelated to the nuke and the current glitching issue, but do you think a 13 year old should be playing this game? In particular, online?

There's only one hacked account on XBL as of this morning. The rest are 'legit'.

Yes, why not? You think he won't have heard any language he hears online, in the school playground? I never stopped my son playing 18-rated games online, just as I never denied him a glass of wine or watching a horror movie if he wanted to and he turned out to be a very polite, well-rounded young man. The more you deny kids the more they rebel against you in search of forbidden excitement. However, that's for each individual parent to decide upon.

If I seen something like that happen I usually spend my match trying to stop it, just as that Wings guy mentioned in one of his vids. The new game turns into stop the nukers.

Heh, that's quite a good way of looking at it. Just turn it into a Jack Bauer gametype of trying to stop the nuke before they manage to launch.

"But roskelld, what about the flag?"

"DAMMIT THERE'S NO TIME!"

Thanks for the defense blue. And to answer blinkybear. I think my son has every right to be proud of being good enough at a game to get a 25+ killstreak. It's testament to his skill and ability.

I've also on numerous times defended my decision to allow my son access to whatever material I feel he is mature enough to deal with. Can I also point out he's far more sensible than I was at 13.

Edit. I should mention that blue was correct that I was being lighthearted with my initial reply. What's the difference between someone on here posting about their k/d or that amazing match to me making a comment about my son. If he was violent, foulmouthed and had attitude or behavioral issues due to his experiences with 18 related material. I'd be certain to reevaluate my decision. As it is so far I seem to have raised a well mannered. Polite and happy boy

I see a game that is rated 18 for a reason, and whilst I know all too well the language that kids hear elsewhere, I think the imagery and the violence that they are exposed to in the game are somewhat unhealthy for people of a certain age. Not that I think games are damaging to kids in anyway, but I feel it's just inappropriate.

As for the online aspect, it's quite another topic entirely, butbthe anonimity and the lack of any real regulation regarding who you play online is a worrying aspect to consider.

I grant you that the skill shown is comendable, but in the grand scheme of things, I personally feel that the issues presented within the game and the possible online problems are far more of a concern that the ability to kill 25 avatars without dying.

I'm not entirely sure when I became such a prig for ideals and moral decency, but I'm certainly hady eyes opened since becoming a teacher.

Games are wasted on kids. How am I supposed to find the time to develop the skill to get a 25 kill streak?!

It's funny, but in many case they are. The younger kids I talk to about MW2 only know about Afghanistan and 'Bin Laden' and their concept of War and what it means is detached because of things like 'pwning' each other and nuking each other. The other major thing they talk about is boosting and glitching, with no real concept of ranking and prestige, in the true sense, it's all just a big game of willy waving and piss taking. And a cause of bullying if you haven't got the game.

Personally I don't see any problem in a 13-year-old playing an 18-rated game under their parents supervision. Not that they have to be stood behind their child the whole time, but I'd rather a father have some input on his son's pastime — and the shaping of his online demeanour — than be completely hands-off just because they're the appropriate age. Obviously I know nothing about cassidy's familial relationships, but as he's a part of his son's online activities, instead of being completely uninvolved and disinterested, I'd hope it would give him the chance to condition his offspring into not being a casually racist arse.

Unless cassidy himself is a bit of a nob, obviously.

my son also watched all of band of brothers and gen kill with me. It's sad to say that he's grown up with the uk pretty much constantly in conflict. He also fully understands the harshities of today's world and society. I done brought him up good

he cannot stand that aspect of live what with having friends of differing creeds and colours. Tends to play with his headset off unless he's with friends. In fact friends from work play with him occasionally.

I am a nob though

I imagine that neom has fathered most of the sprogs that Blinky has to teach, by the sound of it.

thankfully not my boy. I'd bloody kill him if I heard a single racist or homophobic comment leave his lips. However as I mentioned. He's been brought up with the correct morals.

Oh no, these kids come from no human seed. Devil children. All of them.

Cassidy-I think there is much more worth in watching Band o' Bros and Gen. Kill with a child than them playing 'COD innit'. For one, those shows present a very matter of fact, life and death presentation of war, whilst games and especially MW2 actively encourage you to use the theatre of war as a way of getting one up on someone else. The dea of glitching, for example, is just a further way for kids to show that they're somehow superior to their peers.

But maybe I'm just in need of the Xmas holidays.
