Modern Warfare 2

Now I can sort of understand why someone would get a mate to join a cage match so that they could get a specific reward quicker (getting Sit Rep Pro by destroying 120 claymores/C4/tac insertions is really time consuming), boosting to get XP seems very odd to me. The people doing it will get to Prestige 10 quicker, but so what? Why not simply stay on level 70?

(personally, I have no plans to Prestige -unlocking stuff is the worst thing about MW2 imo)

I hate backing out of a server only to be dropped straight back onto the same server when I 'find match'. This is exactly the sort of thing computers are supposed to be good at. How hard can it be? "Oh, you've just quit that server, let's not go there for a bit". Sort it out techies.

I don't see the problem with using private matches to boost your XP is you want to unlock stuff if you're that way inclined. Better that than fucking up matchmaking games.

Aye but it does fuck up matchmaking games as the games are joinable. I have been playing free for all this afternoon and twice i ended up in 18 man free for all matches where cunts had 356 kills and 34 deaths. Pricks!

"Unfortunately all our techies are busy browsing the internet for pictures of Bayonetta's alternate costumes. Please wait for Modern Warfare 3."

Wow. Just dicked around with my rushing kit. Seems that the UMP45 with Rapid Fire beats most Akimbo Weapons. One more game and I'll unlock the Akimbo for the UMP. Might try Bling Pro + Akimbo + Rapid Fire for fast kills and running out of ammo in an instant frolics!

I cant help but watch that guys videos too. I must have watched twenty of the fuckers by now, mostly on the mobile (portable Youtube is lovely, isnt it?) and I wondered just how much he plays given that he uploads videos so prolifically. The answer? 262 hours and counting:

68vjuo.jpg

For what it's worth, he is 187th in the world on PS3 for kills (you can probably bump him up 50-60 places if you remove the boosters and cheaters) with 43432 kills. 15145 deaths. 2.87 K/D ratio. 40 kill streak.

He's definitely picked more than the cream of the crop from what he shows then. 2.87 is brilliant but it's not supernatural like those videos would have you believe.

I don't know, 2.87 is pretty mental. As an overall average, without boosting, it's pretty insane.

It's quite impressive, but you have to consider game types played, which is what makes leaderboards so worthless. Let's be honest, he doesn't flag run in CTF, he doesn't plant in any bomb game type, he certainly doesn't rush B in domination. For comparison, I'm a full prestige ahead of Kerraig yet only have 3000 kills more than him, with 21k total. Spread that out over the prestiges and it makes no sense. That's because I only played TDM until Isaac started dragging me into Domination and Kerraig into Mosh Pit.

Good thing I'm a selfish camper who's only concerned with the K/D ratio then, ey? :hat:

You're right, but I think it has its uses in more frantic objective based games. It won't be running the flag or planting the bomb, but shacked up on a second story with some claymores and a bit of ammo it can suppress the enemy pretty efficiently. When we get the league going I think the more successful teams will tailor their arsenal to have a range of roles supporting one another. There's definitely a bit more variety amongst the different weapons, perks and such. When we did the hardcore league on CoD4 it was pretty much just a G3 fest. I don't think there's an equivalent weapon in this.

i'd say 2.87 is perfectly achievable by most here is they ignored objectives and just protected their life. A guy i play with UK Shinook is 2.41 while still playing objective games properly.

A large amount of my friends are doing a lot of complaining about this game. "oh man I hate noob tubers/akimbos/snipers/pavelows" etc and I think ive nailed the frustration. Theres so much variety and as much balancing that one single class is never good for all situations. Whereas in COD4 all you needed was an m16 with stopping power and a red dot in any game type on any map to stand a chance, in this there will always be a certain situation where your load out gets beaten in the rock paper scissors stakes.

For me I think this is fantastic, as it always allows the other team a chance of turning the tables and stops you being pinned back and raped. In COD4 it tended to be us pinning the other team back and I think my friends enjoyed being all powerful. Now they need to think, plan and counter a bit more they're not liking the vulnerability. I watched Biscuitpower in the games we played last night and his positioning was fairly weak throughout.

It still needs some tweaks, most notably the sudden death rounds need to be sorted out on CTF and Demolition, lightweight and marathon should both be perk 1 slots and i'd personally drop the akimbos, but other than that this is incredible

"DMZ"?

Demilitarised Zone - it's a network port on a router that is (largely) unmonitored by the routers built-in firewall, meaning that if the routers' firewall was the cause of your connection problems, then they are solved. For games consoles this is fine as (I believe) they ignore unsolicited data packets, but with a computer it has its risks depending on how you've set it up.

Mine is already int he DMZ on my router and Live reports the NAT status as Open. It's been like that for years and in my case the issues with high latency seem due to:

A - Other people with shit connections.

B - Xbox Live.

C - Me being shit and blaming it on A, B or both.

The last one is not true though. I know when fair's fair.

I find positioning myself the hardest thing in the game. I usually die because someone else got an angle on me that I hadn't considered, or my location left me exposed, but with some extra knowledge or thought I could have selected an alternate spot. I'd still love to see some videos of the best players on this forum to see just how they position themselves and move about the map.

I love the guys who position themselves so that 1 inch of the top of their heads is barely visible as a speck on your screen, then they can inexplicably 1 shot you with an M16 WITHOUT stopping power from across the map. Through the 1 metre thick scenery they are sitting behind. Anyone else experienced this? Seems a little broken/unfair to me. I mean, surely if you can't even see their head, then they can't possibly be shooting over the top of their cover.

Yeah, the same thing happens to me. It used to happen on Gears of War too - the enemy's gun was protruding through the geometry so was 'allowed' to fire, but he was not or barely visible. Muchos frustration.

I have a couple of quick questions:

Do you just have to have 1 One Man Army class to be able to 'resupply' your ammo? Or do you need 2 so that you can switch then switch back?

When do you actually unlock your new custom class slot, is it when you begin your first prestige, or after you get to max level (70) in the first prestige? If it's the latter I really don't see the point. Otherwise i'm tempted, I really need another slot.
