"You must unlearn what you have learned/The cave, remember your failure at the cave! (on afghan)" etc - it's actually quite useful starting over.

...in my case I've gone back to normal DM running round, flanking like a loon with a knife just when the fad was over. You soon level up again...level 30 prestige here in 2 days of casual play.

Dunno if I'll have the guts to go again mind...the akimbo shottie cunts are a nightmare thesedays.

Overheard a funny chat last night when some tit was stating "yeah there's a new 'lag-switch' you can buy...somebody was using it t'other night, soon as you saw him he hit it" ummm sounded funnier in a broad Barnsley accent.

I have a very low level of player skill but switched from the FAMAS to the RPD and have finally started to get more kills than deaths on a regular basis. We're not talking a lot - more like 10-3 or so on most games - but it's a whole lot better than evens and I even managed to get an attack chopper up for the first time. Looking forward to getting the AUG, which looks amazing.

I've tried out all the LMG's and the RPD is stil best for balance of a huge clip, great accuracy (with grip), incredible iron sight and brilliant power. It is the best LMG imo. The AUG is alright, it's a mix between an assault rifle and LMG but its more like the former. The clip is large enough to be some super assault rifle and the reload is nice and short, but it sat it an uncomfortable middle ground for me (and seemed to bounce if you held the trigger down to shot middle to long range- gotta tap it then I assume).

These days I use a silenced ACR though. Fuck me, I love that gun. I actually prefer iron sights to red dot/holo these days if the sights are brlliant (RPD, Scar, ACR) enough- except for the Raffica- that with the red dot sight is a godddamn mini M16. I love it- if you have it equipped, it comes up in last stand too. Kill anyone with a burst!

You basically start again, losing all the guns and perks you've unlocked but with a shiny new emblem to show everyone how great you are.

i thought they were bragging about how going prestige actually gets you stuff that others can't have? or is what they actually meant, have a shitty fucking emblem.

You get an extra custom slot and more challenges/titles etc to unlock

You get an extra Class slot. Not that useful if you're like me who only uses three slots.

you got an extra custom slot in cod4 though, so really you just get challenges. i thought guns or something useful

I thought you got nothing bar the extra emblem- you only get extra slots in mw2 and World at War maybe?

Lag switches were no joke in Gears 2 (check them out on eBay), with unscrupulous hosts running about killing whole teams. I dunno if the networking side of MW2 permits the same abuse, but they most definitely exist. Epic spent a good amount of time and effort trying to sort the problem on Gears and it took them ages. I'm not sure they ever stopped it 100%.

^^Yeah I'm sure they exist but s'just the whining that goes on by randoms...a lucky kill's a kill, a stupid kill's a kill, a good kill's a kill (some dude had me while he was in a mid air jump last night - I tipped my hat and smiled)...I just mean that if it hurts give it a rest.

I got a message from a random asking to meetup for a boost meet Yesterday too...has anybody else noticed all the mega-prestiger's ending up at the lower end of the score table in games?...Legit 'stiging really pays off.

...you'd have to be a strange sort of beast to be really into shooters and not own a 360.

colour me a strange sort of beast. I don't think it's that surprising to be honest, but then I come from a PC background. I saw the horrendous failure rate of the 360 (they may well have fixed that since I bought my ps3), I saw what was essentially a streamlined Microsoft PC in a console case, I saw the broadly similar to PC gaming games catalogue, I saw the lack of blu ray drive, and it all led me to the PS3 as my alternative to PC gaming.

EDIT: I'm not asserting that anyone is right or wrong in their choice of console, I just don't find it that surprising.

Pretty much every MW2 game I go into has northerners moaning about ‘campers’. “Fookin’ campers. That bastard was fookin’ campin’. That team’s just fookin’ bastard campers.’

The word just seems to mean ‘someone who’s just killed you’.

The number of people whinging about stuff has made me mute anyone I don't know the second they open their mouth, regardless of what they say. Constant complaing is more annoying than singing children or overly excited Americans. It's amazing how much it brings out the inner moaning cunt in people.

The camping thing is so weird. If someone is succesfully "camping" and killing you then it's your own fucking fault for not countering it. I had someone complain about camping about twenty seconds into a game the other day. I think they just mean "someone who killed me while standing still".

I'm sorry, what? I played a bunch of CoD4 on PS3 (but mainly on 360) and whilst I'd agree IW have mapped FPS controls to the dualshock better than anyone else has managed they can't get round the total absence of weight on the PS3 sticks. It's OK for twitchy close quarters stuff but shooting at range is substantially better on the 360 pad - at least in my experience. Also, even more contentiously perhaps, I'd say the quality of opponents is noticeably lower on PS3, my K/D was around 1.3 on 360 but well over 2 on PS3 - maybe not that surprising, you'd have to be a strange sort of beast to be really into shooters and not own a 360.

You actually took the time to remove the comments I made about preferring the analogue sticks on the 360 in the quote so you could pull me up about the PS3's inferior analogue sticks?

Just to clarify, I really liked the "feel" that L1 and R1 give for aim down sights and fire. There is literally no play in the button at all. I imagine the time difference between pressing R1 to shoot on PS3 and pulling R trigger on 360 is an absolute fraction of a second, but its definitely noticeable, and it fells oddly satisfying, almost empowering.

I have only played a couple of hours on PS3 and the standard seems pretty similar to me. Again, I might be unlucky but (and this sounds odd to say) there are more unpleasant twats abusing microphones on PS3. I have had people blasting music down a mic, more bitching and screeching and arguing than I would expect to hear, and my tolerance of what I expect to hear is pretty high! Is that because there are less people with mics on PS3, so some people who do have them feel like the "own" the airwaves, or is my completely unscientific research just too small a sample to read anything into?

Graphically the difference between the two is utterly minimal. I might agree with the claim that the textures are a tiny bit sharper on 360 when you are really close to them, but that is nitpicking. I will say that in the campaign the differences are more noticeable. The single player is basically a fireworks display, and there were definitely moments where I felt the PS3 drop frames, a considerable number, which is something I dont think I ever noticed on 360. That might be because I have installed the game to the hard drive on Xbox, while PS3 is streaming from the disc.

Apologies, it was the 'aiming and shooting' bit that made me think you were referring to the analogue sticks - the whole r and l numbering thing has always confused me.

Not being the world's most hardcore MW2 player, can you please explain the following terminolgy:

Dog rapers

Noob tubers

'Dog rapers' = People running around with two shotties. I think the term 'Dog Rapers' comes from a Penny Arcade cartoon.

'Noob tubers' = People using the assault rifle's grenade launcher. Using them to get kills takes little skill and considered to be cheap.

Made an entire clan quit out of a S&D game earlier, fired a tube off straight off the spawn on Invasion, got a double kill on impact and blew up a car getting a third kill a second later. Lulz were had by all.

See this makes you come across as a bit of a prick to be honest.

A noob tuber is somebody who exclusively uses his grenade launcher. You can carry four in MW2 (two in the M203 attachment for the assault rifle, two in the thumper) and pick more up as you move about with the Scavenger perk. Mostly the people who do it will get one grenade kill per life though.

A dog raper? I have no idea. I always assumed it was somebody who had forced penetrative sex with a dog, against the will of the dog. Its either just a general insult or some kind of reference to stabbing people from behind?
