The real great thing about OMA is you only need 120 kills with it to get it to Pro. You can do it in next to no time.

Anyway, because I have a Lovefilm subscription, I thought I would rent the PS3. I read the Eurogamer blurb about how the 360 version runs better, but I thought I would check to see for myself, and to be honest the only differences I can see between the two are whether 360 or PS3 controller buttons appear on the screen when the game prompts you to do something. I so rarely play my PS3 online that I am left wondering a few things though. Firstly, is there no option to "join session in progress" when you see your friend is playing the same game as you? Also, how do you report people on PS3? I shit you not, I have seen more people doing the Javelin glitch in half a dozen PS3 matches than I have in 40+ hours on the 360!

I've been playing both PS3 and 360 versions since launch- while they're pretty much exactly the same- the 360 version is a bit sharper on my TV for sure- I saw that the first time I popped on the 360 one after playing the PS3.

Unfortunately the join in progress option is hidden away awkwardly- you need to bring up the friend via the invite/xmb bit, go click the first icon under their name and if they're joinable- you can click a button to join them. A bit of a headache. I haven't seen an option to report either, but I've not come across too many glitchers in 40-50 hours so you might have gotten unlucky.

One cool thing about using a PS3 pad is using L1 and R1 for ADS and shooting, there is NO travel on the buttons- it's super fast. The 360 pad feels better and don't get me wrong- shooting FEELS like shooting with the 360 awesomeo triggers, but there is definately some speed advantage with those PS3 shoulder buttons

Does anyone know if the pro version of Sitrep cancels out the effects of others using the Ninja Pro perk as I was just thinking independently of playing the game now that surely Sitrep's hearing other people's movements as louder has trumps over Ninja pro's ability to stay silent during movement?

ARGGHHH so pissed off with my bro, anyone have any tactics against riot shield users?. I do use a stun grenade to slow him down and then stab him otherwise a grenade but sometimes I just miss. Any other means?.

Aim for the feet if he is running. Otherwise keep your distance and use explosives, grenade launchers and sonic boom works at angles.

OMA does the same. If you put down 3, the 1st explodes harmlessly.

Masu: it isn't cheating to keep replenishing claymores with OMA, IW have never said that. OMA, for better or for worse, was designed that way.

Ahh , I didnt know the third exploded, thought that there were an infinite amount. 2 is OK if it means losing a perks slot (and sec weap).

Had a mixed bag o games tonight, if you DO prestige I suggest staying away from HC as everyone and his dog has ninja and jammer or scramble, and you get a-splatted as soon as you move. Or before. Or I did tonight, anyhow!

Back up to level 17 though and it didnt take too long. But, like some here, I really miss my ACR.

Finally reached level 70 and got the shitty AK47. I'll be damned if I'm going to go Prestige, I'm not that sad.

No way am I losing my lovely scoped and silenced ACR. Who needs a sniper rifle when you got this..

The AK is really good. And you're right, why use a rifle that kills in 1 shot when you can use one that takes at least 3!

Well, my first ever ragequit.

We have been stuck in a lobby with a team who just slow every game down to snails pace. We are quite evenly matched, I think of the five matches we had our team won four and lost the other. All within a couple of hundred points. The problem is every single game went to the time limit rather than the kill limit. I just get bored when games become four or five blokes holding one room. I like a certain element of "twitch" to the game. I dont want MW2 to be Quake, but I dont want it to be fucking chess either. Im not really enjoying being in this lobby, but the rest of my team are as the games are genuinely competitive.

Anyway, 6th game and some bloke has killed me four times in a row and put me into a death streak. I'm not running at a place he is holding like a headless chicken, we are both sweeping the map and he has just got me every single time. I mention this on voice comms, and within two second the fucker gets me again with a Predator Missile. I respawn from that and the cunt throws a cooked grenade right at the spot where I spawn. It was the second time he had killed me within two seconds of spawning. "FUCK THIS SHIT!" and a thrown controller later, I realised I had to turn my Xbox off to soothe my mood. I'm sure the lads are pissing their pants laughing.

I think the biggest differences I could see between the 360 and PS3 are just how differently I have my TV set up for each. The differences in colour saturation are huge. I have my 360 (launch model) through a VGA cable as it doesnt have a HDMI out, I have the PS3 though HDMI. I'm sure with a bit of tweaking I could get them looking similar. I might have a look at the closer look at the textures if I decide to have a play through the campaign before I send it back to Lovefilm.

Yeah, my Javelin story is based a ridiculously small sample. I just found it odd. And of course, more people will be doing that glitch every day as they get nailed by it themselves and find out in the lobby or on Youtube how its done.

I agree with the PS3 pad. I really really like the L1 and R1 buttons for aiming and shooting. It feels so much nicer than the 360. I might see if I can bind the shooting to the bumpers on 360 and equipment to the triggers. I think if the positions of D-Pad and left analogue stick were switched on the Dualshock then it would be my personal favourite controller by a mile. The position of the left analogue stick really is the best thing about the 360 controller.

Akimbo 1887s absolutely demolish on this. I haven't looked back, don't care if it's cheap. If i'm going to get killed by noob tubing idiots at least ten times per match I may aswell fight back with something equally as easy to use.

I have a few people on my friends list who moan about different things in this, be iot spawn killing, campers, dog rapers etc. But for each one of em there is a counter class you can build, so I have very little sympathy for the moaners. If you dont like noob tubers build a class with blast shield, if you dont like thermals, use cold blooded, is heartbeat sensers piss you off bring ninja, take tactical insertion and choose where you want to spawn etc.

My only complaints are with latency and the marathon perk, as it makes the game on the whole a bit faster paced than 4, which changes the balance a bit. Individual classes such as riot shields, sniper setc are easily countered with the tolls available.

Danger Close cancels out Blast Shield, I've been making people rage quit with them all night. :omg:

Made an entire clan quit out of a S&D game earlier, fired a tube off straight off the spawn on Invasion, got a double kill on impact and blew up a car getting a third kill a second later. Lulz were had by all.

Strangely, I've been playing in an all Euro (and mostly British) lobby til about 30 mins ago, 4 bars all round, really well balanced teams too, this game is bliss when it works. Then it merged us with some Americans so we all left. Made some new friends though. I really love S&D, it slows the pace way down and brings out so many nice little bits of the game, new ways of approaching the maps, it's great fun. Frustrating sometimes, but mostly fun. The dograpism of 1887s really shines here though, rippers less so.

Only real complaint about it is the randomness of care packages can make or break a game in a ridiculous way, I had an AC-130 in the air within 10 seconds of a game the other day, obviously it was game over. Most of the killstreaks are easy enough to avoid but the 11s and the EMP are absolutely game breaking on S&D, the latter more than anything I feel since it's impossible to encounter.

A four day break cost me 2000 places on the rankings. :( Should be 4th prestige by Friday, saw two 5ths today though. :(

I actually managed to get more kills than deaths by a substancial amount (10-2) for the first time last night. It seems that using the silencer does actually make quite the difference, since everyone doesn't flock to the red dot to kill you.

Now if only I wasn't a useless aim.

In all the times I've actually marched straight up to a shield carrier, head on, and attempted to stab them, I've only been killed once. Grenades and 50 cals often don't seem to bother them, yet stabbing them in the face usually gets the job done. Try it.

I have a very low level of player skill but switched from the FAMAS to the RPD and have finally started to get more kills than deaths on a regular basis. We're not talking a lot - more like 10-3 or so on most games - but it's a whole lot better than evens and I even managed to get an attack chopper up for the first time. Looking forward to getting the AUG, which looks amazing.

Prestige or not, whatever. It's not sad, either way. Commenting on you not doing it because "I'm not that sad" = sad.

Tried playing as shield last night, on every level regardless

Problem is on mercenary team death match there is very little (no) chat back and forth on tactics etc so often you find yourself on your own and totally exposed

Soon I am going to try with a couple of other guys a 2 shield, 1 shooter combination

It is easy to kill a shield guy on his own most of the time. Even though they cant be killed by shooting the shield I found I was so blinded by the bullet damage I couldnt even see the enemy to hit him with the shield. Also, it's crap against 2 enemies as you an't face squarely to both

I'm sorry, what? I played a bunch of CoD4 on PS3 (but mainly on 360) and whilst I'd agree IW have mapped FPS controls to the dualshock better than anyone else has managed they can't get round the total absence of weight on the PS3 sticks. It's OK for twitchy close quarters stuff but shooting at range is substantially better on the 360 pad - at least in my experience. Also, even more contentiously perhaps, I'd say the quality of opponents is noticeably lower on PS3, my K/D was around 1.3 on 360 but well over 2 on PS3 - maybe not that surprising, you'd have to be a strange sort of beast to be really into shooters and not own a 360.
