Seemingly against the grain I'm loving this more than ever just now - The rippers and javelinwanks are annoying but I'm not finding them overbearing and was still finishing mostly top last night - had one of them beauty games where everything fell into place for me and it was saweeeeeet !

I love it when you get a match where you just click with the flow and the other teams' tactics, constantly flank them, and build great streaks. It's funny how many people camp exactly where they killed you from - I got three guys last night who (having killed me in a building on Quarry), just camped there afterwards in exactly the same spots. SCAR-H through the wall to kill one, rounded the doorway, killed the other, switched to the Raffica (seriously, how much fun is that gun?) and wasted the guy on the walkway above. UAV, Care Package and Airstrike followed swiftly after :)

Run around with Javelin primed, somebody shoots you they're likely to die due to the stupid blast radius - it's not a glitch - it's a fuckup on the part of IW who should've tested/QA'd this cunt out the door knowing what would happen when it went live - how they missed that is beyond me unless they intended it but didn't realise how badly it'd fuck the game up.

I think a big problem for a lot of people with this game is how strangely precious they are about their K/D ratio - who gives a fuck ? It's a meaningless stat - so as soon as something crops up (matchmaking against yanks or javelin freaks) which threatens their precious k/D they vow to shelve the game.

That lack of perspective worries me more than somebody using an exploit which should never have been there in the first place.

Precisely and in many gametypes, Domination for a start, to actually win you're going to often have to sacrifice yourself for the good of the team. More often than note dominating new areas will be a series of deaths until you've managed it. It would be better to just have it for select playlists really, as for deathmatch it's an interesting stat.

You'd be precious about it if yours was 0.29 like mine was three weeks ago! You have to aim for respectability. As was said in a previous debate about it, you're letting others down if you're getting more deaths than kills in team games. KDR is pretty much the be all and end all to me. Not in terms of enjoyment, but certainly in terms of accomplishment. After reaching (and sustaining) that respectability I can cope with being annihilated in a match and not having to check what it's done to my overall ratio.

In other news, I joined a match that was already well under way this morning and within ten seconds someone nuked my team before I got to do a single thing. I joined another in similar circumstances soon after with the same outcome, albeit getting nuked after about thirty seconds of being thrown into a team fighting a losing battle this time. Now that can fuck off!

ahahahaa yeah just remembered another amazing game last night. On derail i spotted an enemy Tactical insertion with a friendly laying by it. I saw the enemy spawn and lay down his tac insertion while my teammate watched. then when it was down my teammate shot him and waited for him to respawn.

A quick look at the scoreboard saw the enemy guy with 2 kills and 22 deaths, and my teammate with 23 kills and 0 deaths. obviously they were mates trying to get each other nukes.

I alerted the team and as soon as the enemy spawned I killed him. We then all stuck with our cheating teammate as he tried to meet up with his friend to get his nuke. Every time they got close one of our teammates would kill the enemy cheat, depriving this guy of his kills.

I must of killed the enemy cheat about 15 times. The friendly cheat managed to pick up another kill somehow and was on 24. Our whole team just swarmed around him trying to stop him getting that final kill from his mate.

Eventually he realised he'd have to go and earn a legit kill, so he went into that big office snipe building, where he got shotgunned and lost his streak.

Much mirth ensued.

I got two nukes yesterday.

Only one of them was in TDM though. They're a bit stupid but I want the emblem you unlock for using ten of them. And they seem a little redundant because if the other team aren't taking out your killstreaks before they get you to 25 kills then they're probably not very good and you would have won anyway.

Sometimes you can get them very quickly though. Just this afternoon my mate got 29 in next to no time. Predator Missile killed a couple, opened up the Harriers, they took him to Chopper Gunner. Chopper Gunner wtfpwned the entire enemy team. Obviously no Nuke as he had used all three perks to reach the 25 kills, but if you can get a run of 7 to open up that first good air support then kills 8-25 can come very quickly indeed.

You sir, are my hero. Saw this happening twice this morning, but couldn't do anything to stop it.

on demolition last night- on the attack. Had some guy screaming in my ear to let them defuse the bomb because we got more xp that way and 'XP is the whole point of the game, dumbass'. I ignored him and continued to kill the opposition before they got to the bomb. He wasn't happy.

Was I in the right? Is the game all about the xp and not about winning matches and having fun?

I saw this happen in FFA on Rundown yesterday. As I came in near the end, I had no hope in hell of stopping it. A quite galnce at the muppets profiles advised me that the were some emo-loverteens. I spent about 4 minutes tracking the pair of bitches down on Estate, eventually finding them behind the Power Plant. grabbed myself two easy kills and another one from the tactical insertion respawn, causing them to Ragequit.

<_<

The most annoying thing was that everyone else in the game seemed completely oblivious to it happening.

huh?

My Kill/Death ratios been that low if not lower before and I really don't care about it in the slightest (though generally it's around the 1:1 i think). Some people take playing it faaaaaaaaaar too seriously, I just play to have fun and shoot mans. Thankfully none of the people I am usually in a party with are that anal about shit like that either.

I seem to have found a nice balance in all my play - at last.

FFA I just go for the Ripper - kills are all important and I can regularly hit the 30 limit on a few sprints and have a ball when I don't.

For TDM the ACR with silencer, stinger (for the 2nd shot) and just /relaxing/, finding a corner of the map and protecting it has led to an instant, dramatic improvement in my ratios. The ACR is just insanely accurate from any range.

I'm surprised they didn't separate K/D ratios out over different gametypes as well as overall. Be nice to see how many of each of the rewards my friends have as well.

Having played for well over 24 hours I can say that if you have 2 bars or less you might as well quit out as you're not going to get a fair game.

The game compensates well for lag, but if your opponent has half a second head start before you see them you might as well not bother.

Aye. Just had a game where two people were on four bars and the rest of us were on either two yellow or one red. It was FFA, so only eight players and only one other person had a mic plugged in so I couldnt find out where the two people on four green bars were from.

Not surprising that the two guys on full connections finished first and second. I think the guy who won it was something stupid like 30-4. I got really pissed off when I was on a six kill streak and I had a bead on him, let go a few rounds (a LMG with stopping power too) and he turned around and shot me. The killcam showed me missing him by miles, but from my point of view I definitely should have hit him.

Can anybody playing the PS3 version confirm or deny that the patch has improved matchmaking at all? The game has sold something insane like 13 million copies, and this article claims that more people are playing virtual soldiers in MW2 than there are people in the five largest armies in the world combined. Surely an option to avoid playing games against fuckers in California when I am sitting here in the West Midlands isnt too much to ask for is it? It's not like the matchmaking needs to be global due to lack of players!

Is the matchmaking fix likely to mean that I won't constantly be dropped into games with people 30 or 40 ranks above mine? <_<

Ranks mean nothing, honestly.

You won't get better playing against rubbish people, either.

Kill-cams are your education.

Domination is good for learning maps.
