I've been playing Pixel Pro Golf - its fantastic with sensibly priced IAPs to remove ads, open up all courses and get all equipment (all 99p each)

I’ve been looking for something like this. Good stuff! I was finding the putting far too easy (not bothered unlocking equipment so far) but having got to the first Euro Tour course maybe it’s picking up in difficulty. On the other hand I did win that tournament straight away anyway. It’s making me worry I’ll get bored sooner rather than later, but it’s all good so far.

I just started a free trial of Apple Arcade. Sayonara is my favorite of the ones I’ve tried so far, it is stupendously good. Anyone else still signed up?

I'm signed up, but haven't really tried anything as never really got into mobile gaming (other than Pokemon and a few puzzlers etc), anything else you recommend?

I like playing League of Legends: Wild Rift. Sadly that we can't open treasures and trade items like in Dota 2 here. This would make the game even more interesting. Moreover, I would appreciate the chance to buy skins for the in-game currency, at least of the worst quality. But I'm not going to complain about this since the game is totally free and the skins don't increase your character's strength:D

Are there any good Arkanoid/Breakout type games on iOS?

Holedown is the gold standard, I think. It costs a few quid (£3.99 IIRC?) but it's tremendous. Not exactly a straight Breakout clone, but similar core idea. Very satisfying to play.

Save Eddy Smile is a decent magnets/physics grapple hook puzzle game which is free with an IAP to remove ads.

I have to say the intro and instructions I found a bit poor, it didn't seem to explain the game very well or in a manner I took it, but it felt interesting so I stuck with it and did it again and have now bought the IAP to remove the ads as it feels like quite an interesting game which I've not seen something exactly like before.

In a crazy turn of events, there’s a new Queen rhythm game out that’s actually very good, reasonably priced AND made my Gamerloft.

Link

You get Keep Yourself Alive and Seven Seas of Rye in the demo, the rest unlocks for $3. Lots of lovely little touches and real pictures of the band, it’s really nice package.

After Burner Climax has been killed again?

I downloaded the ad supported version 2 years ago (it was new to the Sega Forever service in April 2019) to try it out - control scheme on a touchscreen absolutely sucked, so I forgot all about it.

Saw this post, revealing that PS4 controllers could be paired with iPads:

I went straight back to After Burner, tried to remove the ads by paying the 1.99. It just says VERIFYING PAYMENT and nothing happens. I went to the Sega Forever webpage https://forever.sega.com which still lists it in the line-up, but when I follow the link to the App Store it says this app is not available.

Am I stuck with the shitty ads on all the stage transitions?

edit - I’m trying unsuccessfully to even find a contact or support address for the service, ffs - am I going to have to sign up to Twitter to publicly shame them or something...

I exposed myself to potentially being cancelled later in life for the sake of this game. It had better be worth it.

edit - I spotted an email address on the website, so sent them off a message asking if the upgrade functionality can be fixed even though the game is not on the market (notice how it is also on the website as ‘out now!’).

I just got a message back - from Gmail, the recipient email address does not exist. ROFL, Sega!

My son has asked for a decent management sim or strategy game for his iPad. I know nothing about the genre, or iOS games. He wanted Prison Architect but it's 17+ and seems pretty adult. Is there anything similar? I also want to avoid any kind of freemium bollocks as well.

Any recommendations for an 8-year-old?
