Space Agency turned free. It's one of those "download right now, ask questions later" kind of things.

Ha, it is a blast. And I like that the satellite I launched in my first mission is still there in later ones.

Reading the review on toucharcade, it sounds really hectic. Not the game dev story + star trek mash up it was announced to be.

That's the main problem so far, it's very hectic, everything turns to shit really easily and going to any system basically results in combat (so far). I wish there was an option to pause and then assign commands, unless there already is and I'm just missing it.

Do people still trust the reviews on TouchArcade? Reading around, SC sounds like a game it's probably worth waiting for a few updates for before jumping in.

Not entirely, it's just a starting point used to get a feel for what's out there given the sheer volume of either utter dross or things I am not interested in. For example, I don't agree with their review of Baldurs Gate which is criticised for its graphics and not being touch friendly, neither of which I find to be the case, it looks superb and isometric RPGs are brilliantly suited to this format. Conversely, they rated that ravens word RPG 5* andI find it a total chore to play, it's just so awkward to move round, it takes all the pleasure away from exploring. I find the iOS version of Bastion inferior to the 360 one. And so on.

Anyone got Sorcery! ? London bus time.

I'm about to get hold of an iPad, can anyone recommend some decent games for it? I've got a bunch of games on my 4s that I've not really bothered with on the wee screen, like Year Walk.

Now I've bought them for my phone will they work on the iPad or do you need to buy a different version? Apologies for the probably stupid questions.

Some will, some won't, depends on the game. Worth trying everything you've got and see how it plays, most are more fun on iPad, with a few occasional exceptions.

In the app store, if something has '+' by the price, it is optimised for both devices.

no idea but it's great. i made a point about gaming being an inherently inferior storytelling medium in Off Topic but sometimes there's a game like this or The Walking Dead and if it was on TV i probably wouldn't bother, but the sense of involvement you get by playing a story relative to watching it unfold passively is quite compelling.

Yeah, sums up my feelings. Once you lose a few crew members (which in the early stages whilst learning is pretty easy to do) then you're on a slippery slope that's very hard to recover from, mainly as the onbly way you can earn more tokens to buy new staff and upgrade your ship is through combat... which in an under-manned ship, is very tricky.

I think they could solve it by having some sort of trading system in there or some basic transport X from Y to Z to get tokens missions based around friendly planets. Maybe chuck some planet mining and mini games in there too to make it more fun.
