Why on earth is there no wishlist on the App store? With the amount on there it seems insane. I am always thinking of getting an app, then not getting it then forgetting about it.

The AppShopper app is good for that, as it's lets you know when it's been updated or reduced in price.

Hmm.., it's been removed but is coming back soon.

I see good F2P design not as forcing people to pay to avoid grinding, but catering for the minority of people who want to have their dessert first.

I am actually tempted to put some cash into Happy Street now, after playing many many hours free, because they've made the amount of iron you need to harvest to get the high level stuff so ridiculous. Actually, if it was $5 to have a second workshop or cooking hut I'd be in there like a shot.

What I'd love to see (although it would be hard to design and expensive to make) would be games structured in the traditional way (a longish single player campaign), but with IAP that radically changed the story and gameplay on repeated playthroughs.

Unfortunately for F2P games, you have to make enough money off each user to replace whatever they would've spent on the game, which means that having IAP as an optional convenience is completely out the window.

That's not true. You just need to appeal to the 1% of users who spend stupid amounts of money on IAP shit, and they make up for the 99% who spend little or nothing.

Yeah, the 99% become advertising in order to make it that big in the first place.

Which is why the successful Freemium games seem to be from huge devs who can bypass that (EA) or people who aren't dicks (Nimblebit).

That guy who did the Eurogamer review for Real Racing 3 is an idiot. I am about three hours into real racing and not had to do any in app purchases at all. I am sitting with about 40 of the coins you use to speed stuff up, and got about 60k in the bank to buy upgrades and cars etc. I have no idea what the guy was up to spending £40+ on it.

Even if it all of a sudden hits a brick wall and I need to spend money to progress I could happily stop now and say its given me more joy and time spent on it than 90% of games I download to my phone, especially free ones! To mark it down to 3 is a total joke.

It’s the closest thing to a proper console game I have seen on my phone, and I actually quite like the fact that there are consequences for bad driving and that servicing your car takes a little time. I don’t really play ios games hardcore over prolonged periods of time anyway, and it’s a good excuse to get up and do something else.

So yeah, if you have written it off due to the bad press think again and give it a go.

Vector is an incredibly good 69p free running side scroller - its what I wanted mirrors edge to be (but it wasn't) - very fluid animation of your parkour man as he escapes guards across a variety of rooftops, and its really hard to 3* the levels.

Having an alternative car to use negates most issues. I'm still prob going to buy in game finance to go on a spree though. The iap's are very well thought out from a 'business' point of view. I'd imagine EA are going to rake it in.

It's a very good game that looks great but I prefer it on iPad over iPhone to be honest. It's easier on a bigger screen!

Same here. Love the presentation in the new one. I spent a chunk of my train journey today grinding battles in it.

OK - been playing this today and it's great. I miss the rather basic charm of the old one a little, but it's a cracking game. buy/5.

That guy who did the Eurogamer review for Real Racing 3 is an idiot...

Having downloaded it last night, I concur. I got a good few hours out of it and still didn't hit any kind of wall (both on track and in progress!) - the way the review was written made it sound like you'd be pretty much screwed from the very start.
