I quite like Pixel People, but I think they've got the appointment schedule on it a little wrong. The time increases for new clone arrivals, builds and such seems okay, but the tapping to reset the buildings, whilst kind of fun at first and always giving you something to do, eventually becomes a bit of a chore once you realise the majority of stuff in your town needs to be revisited every 2-5 minutes to set it off harvesting again.

Obviously you want to reward your more persistent players, but currently I think the difference is probably a little bit too big on what you get for playing every ten minutes and what you get for playing, say, every hour (which is still reasonably frequent for this kind of thing).

EDIT: as an example of this, I left the game for 5 hours overnight whilst I was sleeping and collected about 200,000 coins. In the 30 minutes this morning I have been tapping away I have raised a tad under 300,000.

Played a bit of Table Top Racing against the AI and I'm not exactly in love. I like the concept of it, and it looks lovely in the main, but the weapons feel at once feeble and overpowered in that they have little visual impact yet slow you almost to a complete standstill. And because they're almost impossible to avoid I've already had several moments of frustration equivalent to an eleventh-hour blue shell up the jacksie in Mario Kart. Twice now I've led going into the final bend, before being hit by a ludicrous barrage of projectiles and subsequently overtaken by three opponents. Presumably I need to play it online to get the best out of it?

Need for Speed Most Wanted, free from IGN.

http://uk.ign.com/prime/promo/needforspeed

You go to the page and press one button, no sign-ups, nothing. Staggeringly easy! (Limited number of codes, so quick now.)

I paid for this a month or so ago which would make me one of those gutted people but anyway, I highly recommend it & rate is as one of the very best racing games on iOS. If you don't grab it while it's free you deserve to be murdered in your sleep.

The trouble with Need For Speed MW is that it only really works if you use tilt controls, and we all know how awful that is for a driving game.

Still, there's lots of fun to be had, whether for free or for the pittance it was on sale for. Avuncular is clearly bananas.

Play the proper console version and then tell me it's good.

It's not clear if you mean the console version is worse or better than the iOS one but given the proper console version was the worst game I played last year, I REALLY hope it's the former.

I must admit I hadn't played NFS:MW beyond a couple of races before this latest mention, and since have put a bit if time into it. It really is quite superb. I've actually had races (in the maroon 911  ) that have left my heart beating fast by the end, an experience I never thought I'd get from a phone racer. And the sound on headphones is fantastic.

An amazing achievement by the devs, frankly. No doubt the console version is indeed better, but for the 69p I paid for this, I really don't know how I could feel 'gutted' in any way.

I've been obsessing over Pixel People this weekend. City-building game with a Doodle God-style mechanic, combine different jobs to make new ones. It's freemium, but the "Utopium" you can pay for also comes along at a reasonable rate if you don't shell out. Lots of little jokes in there too. And cute animals.
