The Bards Tale has gone free - universal app - supposed to be pretty good n'est pas?

Ah, it's only through that Free App of the Day thing, isn't it? I was genuinely annoyed for a minute that I'd bought it on sale, hadn't played it once, and now it as going free to play, but it's only for today.

Can anyone recommend any two-player 'take it in turns' games that I can play with my wife please? We've been playing Letter Press and Words With Friends but they're dragging a little now. Got bored of Draw Something ages ago. They don't have to be word/letter-based, just something easy to pick up and work whether you take several turns in quick succession or turns days apart.

Oooh and Ascension: Chronice of the Godslayer has now gone free. Fancied this one for a while

Once more my - why bother buying anything above a quid from the appstore strategy because it all goes free or 69p eventually pays dividends...

I dunno, I'm certainly not one of these insufferable morons who complains when an app is £1.99 and claims they feel ripped off because they should be £0.69 but I do think these games on iOS are worth a lot more than £0.69 and often free.

That said, shit yeah - downloading the suggested game because it's free :)

Thanks!

No me neither but I do look at the time I have available to play iOS games and when I actually play them (breaks in work, odd times when I only have my phone to entertain me) and what ends up being chocolate bar priced or free and think - why pay more?

It's all about the relative value I guess and finding something that you invest in - I paid a tenner I think for the iOS version on FFIII and loved every minute of it and got my value from it playing it the odd moment available which is the nature of it being on your phone. It seems silly to pay money for somethins - any value of money really, if its just going to sit there and not get used, when there is so much free content available...

I'm always up for games of Ascension for any of you just picking it up. I have about 20 games running at the minute... GC: SuburbanAndy.

And have any of you tried 'Into the Dead'? By the same team that made Monsters Ate My Condo. It's basically a FPS free runner and is great fun. It's free too! Add me for that as well, I want people to compete against!

Raiden Legacy is a great conversion, but there are some weirdly shoddy bits round the edges. the main one is probably the lack of acceleration in the touch controls; games like Infinity Gene and the Cave shooters have it so that a relatively small movement of the finger means a relatively large movement of your ship. This is geared, so that you get fine control and rapid movement, but it also means that you don’t have to move your finger very much to control the game.

In Raiden, there are similar touch controls, but without much gearing, so that you sometimes have to lift your thumb up and replace it to move your ship right across the screen. It also means that you sometimes have to put your thumb right where you don’t want it to be (i.e. obscuring a vital part of the screen), which generally means death. It’s a real shame, because it feels a bit like you’re fighting the controls rather than playing the game.

There are some other problems as well, like the fact it doesn’t seem to save your high scores, you can’t enter your name in the high score table, and there’s no Raiden II for some reason. It seems a bit odd, because DotEmu did the conversion, and they’re normally great.
