Congratulations sir, it is a hell of a time.

Although my new 5K time isn't too bad either! ;)

Thanks! My game centre won't refresh, I'm dreading opening the game to see where you are, I was a full four seconds ahead of second place at last look, so I'm not eager to try and beat that again.

Haha, it's nowhere near that good ( 0.07 of a second IIRC )! :)

Trying to remember the name of a game if anyone can help..

It was an iphone/ipod touch game where you controlled a hovering escape pod by tilting the device. The game view is always from above. The game is set on an alien planet where your ship has crash landed. The idea of each level was to clear the level from bottom to top whilst triggering switches making jumps etc Kind o

The alien planet environments had a very Metroid Prime feel to them if that helps?

Thanks

I've been giving Extreme Road Trip 2 a few spins and I managed a complete fluke of a go quite early on with the basic, unupgraded first car - thirty seconds, I think - that I now can't beat. Hmmph.

In other news, Zoo Keeper Battles is amazing.

Why are people talking about times with road trip? My few goes with it gave me the impression it was all about just getting distance?

The jetpack joyride comparison earlier seemed a little off to me though, it has more of a tiny wings vibe if anything.

Also playing angry birds Star Wars. It's really well done, and the sound is lovely, but I think I am just all angry birded out, wish this had been the first one I had played.

I picked up Smule's AutoRap. It's some silly auto-tune type thing that corrects your flow to fit the beats. You can either use it to turn speech into rap, or as a karaoke thing. I thought it would be a fun thing to try with me and the kids. Let me tell you we're triple trouble y'all, we're gonna bring you up to speed.

I haven't actually used it yet, as it seems to have a weird we're-all-going-to-hell-in-a-handbasket IAP model.

I thought I'd like to pick up "Intergalactic" by the Beasties. The first thing is you can't buy the song outright, you can only buy a certain number of plays. The next thing is that I can't buy a bunch of plays. I can either buy an infinite number of plays for a recurring payment of a few quid a month. (I suspect the simple joy of my impression of Ad Rock may fade before the month is out). So the only way to earn a few plays to try it out is to sign up for a whole raft of scammy looking deals for insurance and whatnot, like I'm a voucher clipping moron.

I think my flow may have to stay uncorrected.

Yeah, I looked at this in terms of the Beasties, but they want you to (Uhmmmmmm....) DRAAAAWP too much cash on it and it's a cumbersome model. Shame. (in your game.)

It grades you on fastest time to cover 2k, as well as total distance, and loads of other stuff. I'm really loving it now I've got the hang of slamming.

Is there an easy to view leaderboard? I just see the odd message pop up about my 2k time and sometimes some markers on the course. Doesn't seem very intuitive to get some rivalry going.

Finished Knights of Pen and Paper, which was brilliant, really enjoyed it, had most of my team levelled up to around 34-35 by the end. There's a bonus quest you can do in the maze as well, top right hand corner of the map... but I can't beat the very final boss- one hit kills all round. But it's definitely in there for a game of the year nod from me. :)

All your friends' times, etc are listed in the Game Centre tab, but we all know that only the top three count... ;) Those you will also see on leaderboards when you hit those distances. 2K, 5K and 10K are the main ones it measures. Oh, best One Minute Sprint is also one to watch for competition.

It's like Tiny Wings and Jetpack Joyride with Outrun music

Indeed. It's nice that they want you to download it straightaway so you don't forget about it later* but...Yeah. Very stupid you can't buy things when you don't have a wifi connection/space on your phone when you're out and about.

*Hi Steam sales!

The last two nights have been spent playing two different roller coaster games.

Nutty Fluffies

Sort of Rayman crossed with rollercoasters. The physics and animation of the rollercoaster is great and what makes it. Controlling the rollercoaster is sublime.

IAP is a bit in your face, but you don't need to buy any to progress (so far.)

Coaster Crazy

If Rollercoaster Tycoon on iOS has this with a load of micromanagement and park design, great. Freemium, but I've opened up the sandbox without worrying about IAP. Keep the app open for 10 mins and you can quickly gather a lot of bucks.

The animation and reactions of the characters are cool and the controls are intuitive.

I prefer playing most games on iPad now, these included.

Both different, both good fun.
