I've managed to avoid them as well - but with folks losing their shit over Lili and saying stuff about it being better than console games - I thought I'd take the plunge

Pish

The console games they were referring to were Eragon and Plumbers don't wear ties.

I didn't realise that you had to have not seen a puzzle type before for it to "count".

100 puzzles for next to nothing, nice presentation. I find it hard not to like. Perhaps I'm a bit more glass half full about it, and perhaps you're more of a puzzle veteran, but we've been passing iPads and iPhones around the office for weeks, all trying to beat the game. Those damn jar puzzles!

Got Kingdom Rush to play next as well, although still have loads of other games on the go. Mopping up all the Golden Monkeys in Air Mail now I've finished the main game. The Happy Street update is ace as well, loads of new content.

He's right though. I love puzzle games, I've completed all the Layton games and got this after seeing reviews comparing it to them favourably, and this is no where near as good. The puzzles are bland and derivative, and after doing some then flicking through to see it was the same types repeated, I stopped. To many of them reward trial and error rather than logical thinking. Then you have the clues that you have to buy rather than earn through the game, and the prompts to post things on twitter and facebook after every puzzle (seriously, this is probably my biggest peev about iOS games - if I like your game enough to tell people about it, I'll do it on my own fucking initiative), and it left me rather cold. I feel its getting a bit of a let off because its so cheap, but even at that price I didnt think it was particularly good. The puzzles just werent that interesting. Maybe I'm a bit spoiled by the Layton games, and if an iOS version of that comes out I'll be on it like a shot, but this didnt do anything for me.

Though to not be a negative nancy, Magic the Gathering is the type of game made for the ipad. I'm surprised there arent Yu Gi Oh or Pokemon ones out yet. Loving MtG though, really good fun and takes me back to my school days when I actually played the game. I still have my old cards somewhere....

Same here, that habit kicked in on the first level!

I'm also mopping up the last few bits of Air Mail. Currently trying to find all the Golden Monkeys which is great fun, except that I can't find one of them on the Training Island for the life of me.

After that I might try to get max points on all levels, which may take a while.

Rayman really is excellent, on a par with the Vita version for me. I wont let myself move on to the next level though until I have perfected the previous one, which I think might start to get annoying!

I think it's a great example of basically using the cheaper iPhone game as an advert for other games...

Seriously interested in Legends, as the music levels look very similar, but with more going on...

The only thing I don't get about kingdom rush is the shop.

I don't think it was there before the recent update and so I have say 5 battles left and 45k to spend. That means I can buy enough big bombs and freezing things to sail any level I need to.

5k in the shop would've been much better IMO.

Sword of Fargoal is free at the moment. Brilliant dungeon crawler, lots of charm and lots of fun. They've made it free to try and drum up some support for the kickstarter campaign for a sequel... sadly I'm not sure if they're going to hit the target which is a shame as it's one of my most eagerly anticipated titles... Anyway, Sword of Fargoal is well worth a download for free.
