The iOS gaming thread

Really? The only puzzles I haven't seen before are the ones where you have to uncross thread. That's it.

I didn't realise that you had to have not seen a puzzle type before for it to "count".

100 puzzles for next to nothing, nice presentation. I find it hard not to like. Perhaps I'm a bit more glass half full about it, and perhaps you're more of a puzzle veteran, but we've been passing iPads and iPhones around the office for weeks, all trying to beat the game. Those damn jar puzzles!

Got Kingdom Rush to play next as well, although still have loads of other games on the go. Mopping up all the Golden Monkeys in Air Mail now I've finished the main game. The Happy Street update is ace as well, loads of new content.

Quick impressions

Lili - looks excellent had hopes of it being a single player adventure, but turns out to be a flower dragging combat game. Nicely done though.

Rayman Run - well worth it. Buy now.

Also 41.30 on Super Hexagon. Who'd have thunk it?

You'll be playing Dark Souls next!!

When hell freezes over!

Anyway, I'm far more upset than I should be - my Happy, Happy Street is gone. :(

My missus is also playing it on the iPad, and it kept saying "You seem to have previously played on a different device? Want to import data?". I couldn't figure out how to tell it to fuck off permanently, so I used to just say "no thanks" , but I guess this morning my fat thumbs must have said "yes" because my town is gone, and hers is there in its place.

I am cry.

It hasn't been updated for the wide display, no, but it all seems to run at bloody 480x320 on the iPhone 5! Looks rubbish. Hopefully just a tiny update is needed then.

Yeah I've seen screenshots now. Pretty bizarre, hope they fix it soon. Annoyingly none of the games I own other than Temple Run have been updated.

I was going to ask if anyone else had this issue. Looks beautiful on my 4 and garbage on my 5. Was looking forward to seeing what it looks like on the 5's screen too. Ah well. Great game though.

Super Hexagon is amazing. When you first play any of the levels you're completely rubbish, then BANG, it click and you're the boss.

Without getting too pretentious about it it also messes up your perception of time - in what other games does 30 seconds seem like an eternity?

I unlocked hyper hexagon just now. It might be a long time till I break ten seconds.

Touch arcade has got a list of apps on sale for the iPhone 5 launch. Two that caught my eye for free were Velocispider and Gorilla Gondola.

Loads of other decent stuff with good reductions. Everyone who just got an iPhone for the first time should grab Words With Friends while the ad-free version is down to 69p. Despite Zynga doing their best to ruin it, the core game is STILL the only one (apart from Disc Drivin') I can confidently say I will be playing most days for the entire time I will own an iOS device.

That's what happened to me :(

Except my account was just getting merged with totally random people. I'd press X and instead of being logged in as toythatkills, I'd be logged in as "John B." or something. Then I pressed the tick, street gone.

They managed to recover it for me, but I was still getting the weird message, so they tried deleting my account to make it work and now they can't get it back again, so even though I'm logged into Game Center I can't use any of the GC features at all. No hotel or friends or lucky spin, so basically no flooz at all.

WordFeud is a LOT better, and I'm not just saying that 'cause Zynga, though it helps.

I am gutted that critter crunch isn't available any more. I enjoyed the ps3 demo and was looking forward to playing it on my touch.

My wife and I prefer wordfeud too.

Plague INC is OK, but it seems just devolving symptoms until you have infected 100% of the world is a consistently winning strategy. But I'm only up to Prions, it might get harder. Also, it can feel like a fremium game, sitting there waiting to pop bubbles.

I'm thinking about The Room, Uplink and Yesterday. Any thoughts on those? Also are there any decent story-led games?

Doesn't work with nano virus, they start developing a cure at the start of the game. :(

It's a real shame, as there is loads of new content with the update. My missus now has a robot wandering about, and you can now go down a mine.

Lili is really annoying me... It's got the makings of a really nice game but seems to be designed around getting you to buy IAPs. Like - I need flowers to buy keys. I need keys to open doors and I'm on a quest to find someone in a house... Watch as I use all my flowers buying keys to get Ito houses.

Fuck this shit... I'll go back to Rayman
