But does it have soul? :D

I still much prefer pilot wings... and I'm not keen on the art style, but, mustn't grumble at the value

All this praise for Air Mail... It's drop to 69p at the end of the month can't come quick enough! :)

oh just get it just now... it's cheaper than a pint

Good call. I imagine it'll look ace on that.

It doesn't. It's not Retina'd up like certain games. Looks fine but it's not really comparable to something like Infinity Blade 2, that looks unbelievable on an iPad 3. Air Mail seems to run the same on an iPhone 4 as it does on an iPad 3 so it's perhaps not that resource heavy.

That Prince of Persia classic thing that was cheap yesterday is absolutely fucking bobbins. The controls are diabolical; you have to use some kind of godawful virtual analogue stick to control a game that was designed for digital control. it’s like trying to play a PS1 game from the early days of analogue control, where they didn’t nuance the controls at all, so that Lara Croft arbitrarily fell off cliffs even more than she did already. Plus, the view they’ve chosen is quite zoomed in, so each screen has to pointlessly scroll when you hit the edges.

It’s especially frustrating, as Ubisoft released another version of Prince of Persia on the app store called PoP Retro that was a port of the Mac version. It had great, precise controls, was a universal app so you didn’t have to buy two versions, and managed the staggering feat of fitting each screen in view without having to scroll. They’ve now removed it from the store, so your only option is the newer, much worse version.

There's a free update for Aliens Vs Humans due soon. As far as I can tell, it adds a geoscape, base-building and research features, basically making it a portable UFO: Enemy Unknown. It's gonna be awesome. I know this because I've been to the future and everyone was like 'yeah, that game was awesome. Real shame what happened to that ZOK though. Real shame.'

Some handy advice to become better at Super Hexagon here.

Man, the only tip there that isn't already obvious is the one about turning the sound off...and I'm kicking myself for not having thought of that already, it works in most games of this sort. I now expect to add a whole second to my personal best! :blah:

Don't know if it's been brought up before but I am thoroughly enjoying Where's My Water?

Simple, but thoroughly enjoyable game where you dig through dirt to get water around hazards so it can feed a shower. There's a huge variety of level designs & elements beyond that though. Just unlocked the 'steam' & 'ice' elements.

It's a Universal app, but I find it a lot easier to play on the iPad with the greater control you have over the digging. Quite a few levels require you to split the water mass up to complete multiple objectives or collect the additional ducks & that's much easier to manage on the iPad.

The main game is fun enough, but the additional modes they offer you samples of look worth a look too.

80.9 on hard,

60.26 on harder,

an infinitely frustrating 59.09 on hardest.

:(

Yay! 60.48 on hardest. I found turning the sound off made it easier at first, but once you get used to the tunes and it stops flustering you, it becomes a useful tool for gauging things.

One useful thing that's not mentioned in that article is that you only die when you touch the bottom part of an incoming piece. So when there's one of those fat ones coming at you, you can just pass through the side immediately after the bottom is behind you. Maybe I'm stating the obvious but it helped me quite a bit when I found that out.

Now that I didn't know...45.57!
