Still on for a 18 Sept release last I looked, (earlier this week).

Where did you get that date from? The official forums has one of the staff members just a few days ago stating they can only say sometime in Sept, that its in the hands of Apple's approval service now. The best they seemed to estimate was the 20th but it was pure guesswork.

Oh, also, Temple Run: Brave is free.

And Super Hexagon, from Terry Cavanagh wot made VVVVVV is out too. You control a triangle and can turn clockwise or anti-clockwise, and you have to avoid the solid blocks coming in at you. It's 69p (launch sale), hard as fuck, and entirely ace.

 Fuck me I am so bad at this. I want to hear more than 9 seconds of music!

Yeah you're right. The 18th seems to be the confirmed date for the PC release.

Llamasoft have released a free version of Gridrunner. It comes with one mode (Survival) and you can pay a 69p IAP to unlock the rest. If you tried the original paid version and like me loathed the "loose and laggy" controls Jeff had chosen to implement you might be pleased to know that in this version the default novice controls are far, far more responsive and if not 1:1 they're as close as they need to be. It's an utter joy to play.

Two questions. How the hell do you pause? And how do I access the high score tables? Jeff doesn't seem to bother with instructions these days as far as I can tell.

Wow, that's the way to sell a game! I bought it after one game of Survival, really excellent stuff! Cheers Flub.

I've always loved Gridrunner. I first played it on my Vic-20 a long long time ago and previously considered the old PC version (GR++) to be the pinacle of the game. The previous iOS version's controls were IMO just fucking garbage. I think it's one of those where he intends you to play it a bit like you're rolling a trackball. I don't think this works on a game that rapidly turns into a form of bullet hell as you move up the levels. You need the fine control. I know Jeff on his YakYak forum has always strongly disagreed with people who don't like his control schemes. I'm not sure what made him change his mind with this one but I'm so pleased he has. The change of controls make is bloody amazing. Stick it in Pure mode and just play. At first you'll be struggling to watch the zone and the X/Y zappers at the same time but as I found last night you rapidly become able to watch the X/Y shots sort of "in the background". You stop needing to focus on them to be aware of where they are. I don't like him much personally but there's no denying the man is a bloody genius.
