That's quite nice, gave it a quick blast but will play it more I'm sure.

Puzzle Craft though. Oh man, it's the most I've been addicted to an iOS game in some time. The missus can't put it down either. It's Dungeon Raid meets Harvest Moon!

#!

The game very cleverly drip feeds you with progress, although you never feel like you quite have all the resources you want/need so you keep playing, and playing, and playing. Great presentation too. Thanks for the recommendaton SaintM!

I'd missed that Uplink had appeared on iPad. It's amazing (assuming you think Uplink is amazing, obviously). I really messed up my first go and my second seems to have hit a dead end. Roll on Agent 3.

Guys seriously, Puzzle Craft is really good. The missus and I got on the train this morning and both played it for the hour and a half journey without looking up. I keep sneaking quick goes at work, I'm now desperately trying to upgrade my Town to a City.

I mean, there's nothing difficult about it, and it could be filed under the "pointless" category I suppose if you don't like things like Animal Crossing or Harvest Moon, but it's just perfectly paced to drip feed new content which is juuust out of reach - unless you have one more go of course. Also the bonus items the game generates every few hours keep you going if you reach a slight impasse, and are also remarkably satisfying to grab.

69p - go!

I've had to delete Puzzle Craft. Just like every other game of this type, I compulsively played it for a couple of days before reaching a saturation point where I realised its all just unrewarding busy work.

It did remind me of my excellent co-op puzzle/tower defence game idea where some people playing a match-3 type game have to collect materials for another player to use in a tower defence type game they're playing at the same time. Someone should make that.

Aw, I wouldn't say it's unrewarding, but perhaps I'm easily pleased. Seeing my little town develop is quite satisfying. I can get a boat now!

Personally a little bit of gentle work in a game is perfect for me, and it's been a welcome way to distract my brain after a tough few weeks. It definitely is that sort of game though, where you need to feel that obtaining a little windmill is a good reward for grinding enough produce, so your mileage may vary I guess.

Actually, to it's credit I will say that the way they do IAP in Puzzle Craft is totally fine. I never once felt the need to even use the money I was earning for anything, let alone get to a point where I was running out and unable to do anything.

That's true but did you never pay to keep a load of ungathered livestock for next year? With coins I mean, not with real money.

Still playing Happy Street on occasion but it's become very samey. No one really has any personality, so you don't really care much for any of them, not even the fox, who appears to be your character but you can't actually do anything with except give gifts.

Everything takes forever as well, and the rewards are mainly pointless. It also quickly reaches the point whereby if you don't buy currency (with real money), you're never really going to get anywhere. I think we're at the point whereby we need 20 Fs to expand our land. The mountain section opened up to...nothing really. Visit once a day to break some rocks and get wool. Same with the forest - cut the trees, grab the mushrooms/jewels/fish. The annoying blue fox pops up, asks for something that's going to take 18 hours to create. Rinse. Repeat. We don't even get anyone else asking for anything any more, just that guy. And again, it takes an age to make all but the simplest of things (unless you're willing to pay real money).
