I appreciate this is probably very objective, but is there a definitive, this is the one, Pinball game for the Ipad?

Yeah, it's subjective but I have most of the pinball games.

Pinball Arcade - 'The best'. Real tables, good physics, looks great. Certainly on iPad 3, but I find the tables too dense for iPhone screen though.

Pinball Dreams HD - idiosyncratic physics, but plays well on iPhone (and is universal).

Zen Pinball - heavy physics, good tables.

I have Pinball HD, but the physics are not very good.

Pinball Arcade is highly recommended.

Personally, I think that Pinball Arcade on iPad is the definitive pinner on any platform, let alone iPad. It feels more like pinball than anything else other than, you know, actually playing pinball!

It also helps that the free table that you get with it (Tales of the Arabian Nights) is an absolute classic - definitely in my top 5 all time real life tables - and that the pay tables also include some real quality (including the wonderful Theatre of Magic). Now, if they'd only strike a deal to license some Data East tables (preferably Star Wars, Jurrasic Park and Last Action Hero to start with!), then you'd never need another pinball game ever again! :)

WRT to the discussion of word games on iOS, has anyone played Word Arena? http://itunes.apple....d464591124?mt=8 It looks almost identical to Wordament, a Windows Phone game which is an excellent wee game. Wordament is prettier and has XBL integration (achievements!), but otherwise it looks the same.

(I am a strange person who uses my iPod Touch for games and a Lumia 800 for my phone).
