Has anyone played The Quest. Aralon: Sword and Shadow or Ravensword?

Ravensword's pretty dated and clunky now (it was pretty clunky even at the time), but Aralon isn't bad at all. It's basically trying to be Elder Scrolls for the iPhone, and does a better job that you might think- combat works well enough, there's a decent range of classes to play, and the environments are surprisingly nice. Good fun.

Got my iPad3 (thanks to they who must not be mentioned) yesterday. The retina screen is quite something isn't it? I didn't expect it to be such an improvement. Kindle in particular is transformed.

Are there any games that make particularly good use of retina on iPad?

Magic the Gathering is out now.... downloading still (1gb!) so no impressions yet, but lots of positive stuff being said over at the Toucharcade forums. Seems like you get a lot for the initial free download, then there is a £6.99 IAP to get more decks/multiplayer.

May be late to the party, but - slight control issues aside - The Bard's Tale really is outstanding value. I've never played the originals, so am thoroughly enjoying the opening game so far - probably 10 or so hours in. Also surprisingly funny in places.

I'm really tempted by this, but the spectre of Baldur's Gate is stopping me. I don't want to be part-way through when BG lands, as then I'll probably abandon it for months on end and never finish it.

I am very much hoping that BG has a superb interface and will be a huge success. Then we might start seeing other old school RPGs coming through - by which I basically mean Planescape: Torment. Drool.

Got a link to this? Can't find it.

Edit, nvm, found it now.

Not really - Real Racing 2 has more detailed car models, you can see the detail in the nets within Virtua Tennis, Infinity Blade is a bit sharper...

But nothing that makes a bad game good, or a good game great.

I started playing it today. I've never played MTG before (Apart from one failed attempt last year) so it's been interesting. I'm working my way through the campaign and this bitch with a green deck is just able to deploy loads of high power creatures before I can get much out. This shall take some thinking about.

I can't stop playing worms 2 Armageddon. The multiplayer is brilliant.

Played a game earlier where the enemy tried to hit me with a banana bomb. It missed completely but one of the little bananas exploded near his worm that he used. It catapulted the worm backwards onto a landmine which in turn exploded and sent the poor wee guy off the map and into the drink.

I forgot how much fun it can be.

Yeah, I instantly stopped buying magazines anything but digitally when I got the thing.

I can't find a way to just play a custom game against CPU etc? Also where is forts mode? All I can see is quick play, campaign and some kind of horde mode (!?!)

49 billion here. No idea how you are supposed to get a diamond in under sixty seconds though.

Play Time Attack mode. You're given a whole stack of buildings from the get go and it makes it much more doable.

Also: 135 billion. :)

Just to check that article before was true, this is iPad only right?

Anyone tried UniWar HD yet?

Yes, iPad only. Don't imagine it would work that well on the phone in the way it's laid out at present.

I'll have a browse through the thread in a sec, but just in case there are some quick/easy suggestions - can anyone recommend any good rpg or card games? (like magic - I've heard Ascension is good?). I'd be playing them on an ipod touch.

Anyone want to start a few games on mtg? Game centre name is omusremit.

I'm guessing it is 'live' play only, not asynchronous?

The single player is excellent - had a few games last night and didn't hesitate to unlock the full game. Works really well, and as you might expect, being able to touch/swipe the cards is certainly preferable to using a controller. I also like the fact that (with the retina display at least) you can read the card text quite easily without having to zoom in on cards.
