Can anyone recommend a Civ style game for the iPad? I see there's a Lite version of Civ Rev so I'll give that a crack, but I wondered if there was anything else I should consider.

Civ Rev is fantastic, I'd not bother shopping around. It kills my battery though.

Unrelated, have we had this:

http://www.hookshotinc.com/connectrode-the-game-that-zynga-couldnt-buy/

Someone who made a game called "Connectrode" has told Zynga no when they tried to get him/it. Seems to be causing a bit of a fuss and whilst he's probably a bit silly from a Life point of view, well done to him.

I've not played it, but I'll grab it tonight and see how it goes.

I had the same urge over the weekend. I've already got Civ Rev, which is pretty good, but it's the iPhone version I have, so I thought I'd grab the iPad version. That was until I noticed that the price just went up from $5.99 to $12.99 last week. It's been down to $1.99 in previous months, so paying $12.99 seems a tad wasteful.

Nimbelbit did too, that's why we got "Dream Heights".

It's Nimblebit's MO, they try to buy you and then they release a clone.

It seems from the article says he was part of Omgpop and resigned during the Zynga buyout because he couldn't get assurances he would be allowed to sell his own game- Connectrode- outside of work. Zynga were never interested in buying his game. The headline of the article is totally misleading about it- it's really just about a guy resigning from his job during a take over.

Need help with Swordigo:

I've got to Florennum and got a key from the guards on the wall, but can't find where to go next. The Eastern Guard Tower either leads me to a section with slamming walls that I can't get past, or a dungeon area where I can't jump high enough to progress. Where to go now?

Looking for relatively deep/involving/time consuming games to help me while away about 18 hours (each way) of travelling.

I've already loaded up my iPad with a few movies, and:

Got Magnetic Billiards, Waking Mars (though am prob near the end), Civ Rev (though I'm bored of it) and Rune Raiders (also nearly done with).

I've completed Infinity Blade a few times but could be tempted by IB2 if it's not just the same as IB?

I've also got World of Goo which would be a perfect candidate except I never can be bothered with that either, because I got almost to the end on PC and I can't face doing everything again.

I don't tend to like score attack/puzzlers, prefer stuff with a bit more gameplay depth.

I loved Kingdom Rush and Fieldrunners (but have finished both, pretty much), is Geodefense / other Tower Defence game worth it?

Any/all suggestions welcome. Don't assume I've played any supposed classics either... :)

I got stuck in a field with some sheep in Swords n Sworcery.

Story of my life.

Heh. That's exactly where I'm up to! I wouldn't say I was stuck but I wasn't engrossed enough to ever pick it up again. Probably will on the plane.

And thanks - this has proved to be an expensive question! Just bought Eufloria and Osmos. King Of Dragon Pass sounds pretty amazing but may be TOO involved - and at £7 and iPhone only I might wait until my return...

I never played the Broken Sword games on PC (?) - which is the better of the two iOS ones? Are they well regarded ports?

Re: Galaxy on Fire 2 - Often volunteered as the best Elite-like on iOS, and I enjoyed it on OSX with a joypad, but I am no fan of the touch controls and it is very shallow and monotonous: I imagine to facilitate on-off gaming. I personally can't recommend it, especially for a lengthy flight where you can and will most likely want to commit your entire concentration, but I know I'm in a minority there.

Edit: If you're considering King of Dragon Pass but think it's too expensive, note that it is only very occasionally discounted to £5.50 (or within the region. Just left that price in the last week or so). Late 2011, it was discounted to £3 in honour of some kind of significant anniversary but it was something of an aberration, and I think it's highly unlikely to be discounted further.
