One thing about ISMMTTM is that it seems to have a delay between landing on a platform and being able to set a jump again.

I'll have a look at the code. There isn't any intentional delay but there's window of a few frames between colliding with a platform and it being registered as a landing.

One thing I wasn't totally happy with is the way the trajectory preview is animated. It sort of looks like you have to hold your finger down for a second or so before a jump will work. In fact that's a totally cosmetic effect and the jump is valid instantly (even before you can see the entire path). There isn't really a drag mechanic at all - each position in the lower half of the screen represents an angle and velocity for a jump so you could simply tap the right position in theory. The reason for the animation is because it looked really twitchy and messy without it. I'd like to come up with a better solution which didn't hide the instant nature of the controls.

I don't understand the fuss over it anyway. It's just Pictionary but with no overarching goal or point? Has it just become popular because of the Facebook integration, because it's really nothing special.

It's a combination of the "watch while someone draws" mechanic, and the way you don't have to link to Facebook to play - and that the free version is available wherever there's a smartphone. And everyone understands how to play. So it's easy to get new players.

But if we really knew what were the important factors, we'd be selling multiple companies to the likes of EA, zyngia etc. Because we'd be writing games that were rolling in subscribers.

Majora hates things that don't have overarching goals or win states. When he's in the park throwing a Frisbee with his friends, he throws like a twat and awards himself one point every time someone else doesn't catch it.

"What's the point of a game you can't win?" he was heard to say.

Angry Birds Space is out. Played a few levels - the new gravity physics are fun.

I'm liking this. Some really nice slingshotting puzzles and grabbing an "eggsteroid" took me to a rather fun vertical space invaders level :)

FAO Waking Mars players, what can I do to fix this..

I'm at this section:-

5d30b778.jpg

I'm stuck trying to get the biomass high enough to proceed, I had a bunch of seeds for the grabby tendril life forms and grew a bunch of them and they keep eating the creatures from that room so the biomass keeps going down when they get eaten and I can't increase anything else or kill anything off, what can I do?

I haven't worked out what they're doing in that room with the seeds either.

Cheeko:

you need to feed the green seeds to the jellyfish things, or go into their chamber thing and chuck seeds into the bowl with the fizzing things. Four seeds will create a jellyfish thing for 40 biomass – a very good way of boosting biomass quickly.

However, if the grabby things are killing the jellyfish things, it sounds like you need to kill off some of the grabby things. There are a couple of ways of doing that – you can kill them with those fireball seed things, but the only thing you’d be able to plant would be more grabby things or the things that spew fireballs, so you’d be back at square one.

If you have access to the purple / greeny-yellow seed things that are on the second tier of the seed menu (can’t remember what they’re called), you can use them to change the pH of the soil that the grabby things are in – a purple seed should change it to alkaline, allowing you to plant the water-producers or the green cabbage things. That should feed the jellyfish things, allowing you to get the biomass up.

This post brought to you by the word “thing”.

new Angry Birds is quite nice, its like old classic angry birds crossed with 2d mario galaxy style round levels (with gravity) - a bit more of a twist than I expected

still way more game here than the 69p cost would indicate

I need some draw something opponents. Hit me!

tag: saintm

Started a game with you and others. Apologies if that first one is a bit of a random drawing, I clicked by accident on it so then had to try and find something to draw for it :P

I'm meatball46 as usual if anybody wants to start a game with me :)

I'm liking it a lot too for that reason, but do i understand correctly that the Mighty (or "Space") Eagle is now bought in packs rather than a one-off payment for unlimited use? Even with earning uses for free as you progress through the game I don't think I approve of that.

Oh, & it also keeps crashing on me. I expect Rovio will sort that out pretty quickly though.

I doubt it, because the Facebook integration is totally fucked. Every time I've tried to sign in with Facebook, on three different devices, it just crashes back to the Home screen.

Hmm. I cleared every level with at least 2 stars in a couple of hours. I've got at least a thousand 69p games with more play time in them than that.

demand your 69p back then if you feel nearly 2hours represents poor value for the outlay

I've had a lot of fun just messing with the Gravity Physics. I'm going to see how many orbits I can get a bird to achieve around a planetoid, & watching what happens to all the objects as they get caught up in the Gravity Wells is great fun IMO.
