What would people say are the big, in depth games on the system?

I'm going to pick up Final Fantasy tactics yet what else is there?

I don't want a FarmVille type game which revolves around almost exactly the same thing/that kind of freemium nonsense. I'm after proper games (as FFT). Suggestions?

Wesnoth. It's massive and will keep you going for years.

Game Dev Story

i have tried all the other "big" games including Swords and Sworcery (boring hipster trash) but other than Angry Birds, only Game Dev Story kept me playing. i actually spent about 5 hours the morning i downloaded it, utterly absorbed.

I'm not going back to Game Dev Story. It's a bastard. I used to play it for 12 hours at a time. Never again.

Wesnoth I had previously yet hadn't played. Just went trough the first scenario - I like that troops can be upgraded and kept. I'll keep going with it. Top choice, has cost me nowt!

It really depends on what you're looking for. At this point there are quite a lot. I would recommend some of the following:

Chrono Trigger, Final Fantasy 3 or Avadon if you're looking for rpgs. Sentinel 3, Kingdom Rush, Anomaly Warzone Earth or Ravenmark are all pretty good if you like strategy or TD games. Machinarium, Ghost Trick, Aquaria and King of Dragon Pass are worth supporting, though Aquaria might annoy you with its screen obscuring controls.

Finally if you can stomach the horrible controls GTA3 and Shantae might be worth it, but there are better versions available elsewhere. Shantae could be too short for your "in depth" requirement though.

Shantae for me is a brilliant game ruined by the save system. It saves like a Castlevania game and doesn't multitask, so if something comes up and you can't get to a save point, you can wave goodbye to your progress.

Im looking for a new game to play, hoping to find similar to:

Tiny Wings, Jetpack Joyride, Whale Trail, Temple Run. Love those style of games.

Anyone have any recommendations?

Well, those are the best three and Whale Trail.

You could try Canabalt, maybe. And Hypership Out of Control, both are endless, but don't have the "coins to unlock new stuff" mechanics. People will recommend Off The Leash, personally I think it's slow and boring but it's free so you can give it a go and it purloins Jetpack Joyride's mission mechanics entirely.

Extreme Road Trip. Give it a go. You'll be bored quite quickly, but it's free and daft fun for a bit.

Have we mentioned the Beat Hazard Ultra is out (on iPad at least)? It takes a bit of getting used to, but it more or less works in an invisible d-pad kinda way. But it's awesomez on PC, so I'm sure you'll get your 69p-launch-sale-price worth out of it.

Was revealed over the weekend that my friend has scored over 5 mil on Temple Run. So that was my weekend spent trying to best him.

I've only ever got up to 1.4 mil. Seems like upgrading the items helps a lot so I'm working on that but he must still have the reflexes of a panther.

It's certainly a slow-starter (which is a pretty significant design flaw in a free-to-play game) but I think it's very good. It took me a while to work out that collecting dogs and food increases your level and that increasing your level increases your speed and unlocks a bonu stage where you can pick up loads of coins. It's also, obviously, much easier to collect coins with a huge pack of dogs, but difficult to keep them from running into things. And I think the missions give a good incentive to play (I'm currently going for 650 coins in one game). Whenever I start playing it I can't put it down, which is more than any of those other games that you mention have done for me.

Not really the same kind of game, but I'll just grab any excuse to promote it: Drawrace 2. Really great game with an extremely addicting Friends Challenges mode, where you set up a challenge that lasts for 24 hours, in which you and friends can set the best time. Highly recommended!

Sorry for being a pedant but this one is a real bug bear of mine.

Zynga's Tiny Tower ripoff Dream Heights is out.

Not sure if it's genuine, but this was just posted on GAF:

The second guy's job is S.U.E.D.

I got today's Enscripted in a minute and a half, and yesterday's in about the same. I think I'd still be struggling with yesterday's if I didn't know the film though, because it was a decent guess at one of the words that got me through it.
