Decided I do like Off The Leash, but I'm not sure how much longer I'm going to keep playing it.

I basically have a problem with the timed checkpoint mechanic. Even without hitting any obstacles, I always, always seem to run out of time at around the 800m mark. Maybe if I get a bit better at the game I could last a little bit longer, but I doubt it. If I use a whistle, I can get to about 1400m then I inevitably start hitting stuff.

It just seems like the only way to viably continue is to upgrade to one of the dogs with better stats.... which means playing it for aaaages, or stumping up cash. I much prefer Jetpack Joyride in the way that yes, ultimately I die, but it's through hitting something, not running out of time because my character's not fast enough. You can spend money in JJ, but it doesn't make you do better at the game, it's optional.

I do like the style of OTL, though, so it's got some play left in it yet... just not sure how much.

Concentrate on levelling up, then when you're in the bonus areas of the game don't fall off logs/surf boards or spin out in karts.

Then concentrate on unlocking the golden items.

Yeah, it's the same problem Forever Drive has. The starting dog/car is no fun to play as, so you have to pay or grind for ages to get the second one which is actually controllable and fun. Bad design.

Also, Off The Leash completely hammers the network and battery on my 3GS. Trying to play it somewhere with no signal makes the framerate spaz out to the point of crashing the phone. I know it's pushing the hardware more than Jetpack, but seriously?

BPS are aware of this, should be an update this week apparently.

Reckless Racing 2 is out! This may have already been discussed in the thread, but I’ve only just seen it. Anyway, it’s great – very much like the first one, except with a proper career mode, where you can buy and sell cars and upgrade them. The feel of it (and especially the music) really reminds me of classic Amiga driving games, like Supercars 2 and, erm, Supercars 1.

The only issue is that it seems quite unstable – it’s crashed a few times on me. Still, they should hopefully update it pretty soon.

The first game is great - love the multiplayer . Will get this !

I downloaded the new Bejeweled 3 game yesterday after enjoying long bouts of the previous game. The Classic mode isn't much different but they have improved the scoring system. So far so hum. Then I tried a new mode called Diamond Mine and cannot stop playing it, it's utterly addictive. Games last me between 3-5mins so far and it's so more'ish. Recommended for this mode alone, especially for 69p.

Any "match 3" type game recommendations? I rinsed Puzzle Quest on the DS, but PQ2 seems to have gotten mixed reviews. Similarly, I enjoyed Dungeon Raid, for a fair while, but then felt a little too much relied on luck.

I'll bite then! If you want to support a couple of forumites you could get Jungle Jewels which I wrote and another lad here did the graphics. I've just noticed my name is in the screenshots on the app store, I don't think I'll be 3rd in the world these days. Anyway I thinks it's pretty good!

Could try planet busters. Only problem I had was the difficulty spike (ie I'm shite at it). First 4 or so levels nice and easy then wham no chance.

Cheers.

Diamond Mine mode is digital crack, it's so so good. Can't get close to 300,000 on it though, it's a bit luck dependant in the midgame.

My best is 416,000 but that was only the 2nd time I've got over 300k, I tend to get between 100k-200k. There is a bit of luck required but I'm definitely beginning to see patterns better and trying to manouvre blast gems into place before detonating. Matching two hyper cubes together to give you an extra 70secs onto the time limit helped with my best scores.

Thanks for the tips, once I understood the levelling system I started doing better and enjoying it more.

I seem to have hit another annoyance, though. One of the missions I now have to complete is to play a game using a pug... which means I have to spend all the coins I've been saving up for a better dog, on one that I didn't intend buying. That's annoying. Unless you eventually unlock the dogs through repeated play, and buying them is just a shortcut, but I've not seen any sign that that's the case.

Rebuild is out on the iPhone today.

The iPad app has been made universal. Looks to be a mix between Sim City and Left 4 Dead (ie. Zombies!)

Looks great and on sale for 69p but I can't download it right now as it says the app is currently being modified.

Yeah i wasn't happy about that one either, however if you unlock and use the pug you'll get further and collect more coins.

Dodonpachi Daioujou/Blissfull Death is now up. £3, iphone4+4s/equivalent iPod Touch/iPad2 required. 123mb

Awesome! It doesn’t appear to be a universal app, though – is there a seperate iPad version? After Bug Princess, I’d assumed they would be making all their ne releases universal.

Sadly it's not universal. If it was i'd buy it in a second.

Whoever recommend Hero Academy, cheers - but it's not enough and now I'm after a game that's more fleshed out. Preferably on DS/3DS or PSP?

Also if anyone wants to play me, I'm 'distinguishthis'.

Anyone?

Brilliant! Thanks. Now why is the original pushing 500MB, when this is a quarter of that?

Theory: It's the audio. Two soundtracks plus the almost certainly higher quality of said audio (both games used different arcade hardware, and DFK/Resurrection had extra memory for the audio over other games on same hardware).

I could offer theories but I'm not really sure. Mushihimesama/Bug princess is being ported to 360 in HD atm, so it wouldn't surprise me if the iPhone port was done as preparation for that.

Can someone help me with something? I saw an ad saying Galaxy on Fire 2 is £2.99 for a little while (normally it's £8) so I was going to get it. When I look on the store with my iPhone 4, I can find Galaxy on Fire 1, Galaxy on Fire 2 Lite and Galaxy on Fire 2 HD. However, the description for the HD app says it's optimised for iPad 2 and iPad 4S, and you should get the "regular" version if you have the iPad 1/iPhone4/iPhone 3GS - but I can't seem to fine the "regular" version. Anyone know why?
