Baffled at these control gripes for ZG. They work so well I don't think I ever gave them a second thought.

I am playing it on a propped up iPad though. Right hand scrolls and changes weapons, left hand fires. Maybe it's less good on a phone?

And of course it's a timesink, but only because it's so addictive!

No, it's just as easy on a phone. I am also baffled.

Horses for courses I guess!

You wouldn't be able to get around quickly enough, unless they made the stick alarmingly sensitive, and precision aiming to take out individual zombs with the chaingun would be a nightmare.

You have messed up.

I don't see how it would be any slower, it's not like you can move it around particularly quickly at the moment.

At they very least I think the distance the reticule moves in comparison to your swipes is fucked, it should move further.

So, has anyone got Dizzy Prince of the Yolkfolk? How does it control/play?

My memories of the original are hazy at best (at worst they're absolutely fabricated) but it appears they have removed the chance of death, you just respawn if you fall down a hole, and have taken away the roll after Dizzy

jumps, so you shouldn't be falling down anything anyway. Taking this into account it controls fine, no quick movements are required and the virtual buttons work fine for moving the big man around. They are also absolutely fucking joyless. Dizzy moves really slowly and combined with the inability to fail this makes moving around a complete bore.

As for the game itself I'm afraid to say that it is not very interesting. The playing area is ridiculously small and there is very little to actually interact with. The puzzle solutions are either extremely logical or try everything with

everything nonsense.

It looks horrible, the music seemed alright though. Until it stopped working and wouldn't come back on.

Not as good as I remember/10

I'm kinda on both sides, I really like the game but I do feel there's a sluggishness to the speed of the aiming. I dont think a virtual stick would necessarily be better(maybe a minter virtual trackball) but for me there's an element of the sluggishness adding to the tension a la Resident Evil.

Which makes sense as you're controlling this beast of a gun.

In other, Temple Run news:-

I didn't even use any wings on that run either, was just trying to finish off the wallpaper buying objective so had a quick go to get some coins and I just kept going and going, got three magnets on that run, the last one I got a sprint just after it too which is always sweet.

You need to lift because on a lot of occasions there's not enough room on the screen to make move the reticule with one swipe.

I tried the iPad version this morning and to be honest I found it just as annoying. I just don't see the control advantage it has over a virtual stick.

I was wondering why you would ever need lift aside to change weapon, but then I remembered you only start with the default (and most zoomed in) cannon. Have you unlocked the 50mm yet? It's much easier to

navigate once you can fully zoom out.

To be honest I'm clutching at straws here because I've always found it second-nature to play.

Could I have some recommendations for mum friendly games? Needs to be comptabile with a Touch gen. 2. She likes Fruit Ninja, Doodle Jump and used to play a lot of Bejeweled however that now says you need a newer iPod?

Thanks!

I'm WAY behind the times, but Space Miner is brilliant :)

Me too - only just got that.

It's splendid - it's been a long time since I really gave a stuff about upgrading anything in game as much as I do in this. Love the way the ship changes as you add stuff.

Well the brilliant Jungle Jewels is like Bejewelled and Say What You See is utterly fantastic. There is no ulterior motive to this post...

As for games I've not written Coin Drop and Slingo are pretty good.

Today, I'd like to tell you about SpellTower, available on iPhone and iPad for 69p.

How I'd like to describe it, is "Drop7 with words." It's not exactly the same, but there's definitely that feel about it. Puzzle mode (the best mode) has you make words out of the letters, and every time you make a word a new row of letters is made on the bottom. If you let a stack reach the top, you lose. This is the one that feels like Drop7, because of the constantly rising screen and the lack of time limit, mainly - you have time to think and plan.

As well as puzzle and a harder version of puzzle, a couple of other modes are present, too. Tower just gives you a screen of letters and you have to score as high as you can before you run out. Rush is more frantic, with new rows appearing periodically whether you're making words or not.

It plays just how it looks like it does. You make words with adjoining letters, longer words score more points and you score as high as you can before you Game Over. Black blocks can only be deleted by making a word alongside them, and some letters are numbered which means they can only be played in words of at least that length. Further, you can only play any word ONCE, so you can't rely on the same three-letter words constantly.

It's really brilliant. I was looking for a word game to play since Zynga screwed up Words With Friends, and aside from that, this is probably the best word game I've played on iOS.

My best Temple Run score is 5.8 million (Game Center: Vemsie).

Batman: Arkham City Lockdown is pretty decent, but it somehow feels less responsive than Infinity Blade (2). Looks nice and it's decent value, especially you are a Batman fan. The boss fights are pretty cool.

Yep, I've had a go and it's good fun. Controls a bit fiddly, but that's only really a problem in the timed mode.

I got REAFFIX for 600+ in my first game, think it might take me a while to top that!

My top word so far is 399 points...DOGGERS

What's the difference between mobile modes and not? Just means on phone rather than iPad? I'm second in the world at the mo on the mobile Tower mode, only a couple of thousand players though so I guess I'll drop down soon enough.

EDIT: Hang on, you can't be on my friends list then. Add me ZOK 167

Not really surprising, but Theme Park is awful. Either I'm doing something wrong or it's pretty much impossible to build the good stuff without spending a load of money buying the 'Super Tickets'. At the rate you gain them through quests it'd literally take you months to get enough for a rollercoaster. You can't even add more salt to your fries to increase the sales of soda! :(

It makes Tiny Tower feel massively interactive in comparison.
