Just finished playing Machinaria through to completion with the girlfriend and loved it. The thing we both loved about it (apart from it's amazing style and very charming characters) was the method of drawing you into a story without the need for lots of text. Therefore, is there anything else like Machinarium out there worth playing (that has minimal text)? I personally love all the classic point & click stuff, but she doesn't like wading through text so something similar would be perfect (a tall order I know). Answers on a postcard welcome..

Not really the right thread as it's flash-based but you could try Samorost and it's sequel. Point'n'Click made by the same dev.

Great thread guys thanks for the recommendations!

One question if you don't mind is there any game out there that is similar to 'Advance Wars'?

Cheers

Highborn and Battle for Wesnoth are sorta similar in someways. Neither is exactly like it but you will enjoy them. Wesnoth is more like Fire Emblem with a LotR theme.

Can't believe GTAIII is coming on to iOS (albeit a small segment) that is pretty mindblowing, shame it will probably control like a mad dog on rollerskates.

Been playing a bit of Scribblenaughts this morning, and it's a lot better than the DS version, still seems a bit fiddly picking up items on the small iPhone screen but that gripe aside I'm thoroughly enjoying it. It could be quite short lived though as there only seems to be 50 levels and I'm sure there were more than that on the DS?

For £2.99 you can't really complain though, when the originals were 10 times that price.

Will check out Hungry Master DigDugDo cheers.

HungryMaster is a sequel of sorts to the excellent ElectroMaster, so well worth picking up.

Quarrel Deluxe is 69p for the weekend too, definitely a game you want around in case there's ever a multiplayer patch.

Been on the fence with this (don't know why, seems to be getting rave reviews all over the shop) but for that price I'll give it a go

HungryMaster is now free, and is just like having a MAME game on your iPhone. The music will remind you of an 808 State track, and there is also Music Test, SE Test, and Voice Test to play with via the options. It's worth it just to hear the Japanese girl say the title of the game.

Bonus points for also working on the iCade.

A long lost Level-5 title resurfaced today with some major changes. As part of a series of announcements from today's Level-5 Vision press conference, Level-5 said that it has rebranded Mystery Room as a Layton series title and has also changed the game's platform.

23h12.jpg

Mystery Room was first announced at Level-5 Vision 2009 two years back as an original entry in Level-5's "Atamania" series of brain teasing games. Players team up with genius detectives Poccho and Sly to solve crimes. The game was in development for DS with a release planned for 2010. See our coverage of the original announcement here.

In its new form, Mystery Room is now known as Layton Brothers Mystery Room. The "Layton" comes from Level-5's Professor Layton series. The game's main character is Professor Layton's son, Alphendi, a genius investigator with Scotland Yard. He's joined by newcomer investigator Lucy Creila.

While Poccho and Sly are nowhere to be found in Level-5's new description of the game, the "Mystery Room" concept is still present. Alphendi and Lucy work in Scotland Yard's top investigation division, known by many as Mystery Room. You'll help the two solve a series of mysteries.

Layton Brothers Mystery Room's platform has been switched from DS to iOS game. Level-5 did not say when the game would be released. Access the official site here.

Looks fantastic alright

GTA 3 iPad2 gameplay video-

Looks lovely but it's one of those videos where you wish the guy would just do something more interesting, like actually get in a car and drive around. According to Kotaku, it's also coming to other iOs devices, aside from the 4s and iPad2-

Yesterday we reported that the 10th anniversary Grand Theft Auto III will be for iPad 2, iPhone 4S and other cutting-edge devices. What of older iPads/iPhones? Rockstar tells us they'll bring it to "single core iOS devices in the future."

Talking of R*... here's Gameloft's latest one... Six Guns, a Red Dead Redemption : Undead Nightmare 'tribute'...
