The iOS gaming thread

Any more impressions of shadow run or FIFA 12 for that matter?

I've got FIFA 12. It's great.

A marked improvement on FIFA 11 and streets ahead of PES on iOS.

Manager Mode is a great addition. The gameplay flows nicely. Goalkeepers are a bit shit though. Nice implementation of standard controls mixed with touch, simultaneously. You don't have to use touch, but you can send players on runs or use to pass.

I think it's great value.

Can you play it just as a manager, with game highlights? I doubt I'd want to play an actual game of footy.

Also, what's the best iPhone management game? I'm not really a follower of football but I always liked Chamionship Manager.

You can simulate, but I don't think there is highlights.

Footy Manager 11 is much better than Champ Man. I'd imagine '12 will be out soon though.

Is it free Jelly Defence? I know that sounds a bit tight, but I've played so many TD games - and none of them comes anywhere near GeoDefense - on iphone at least.

There seems to be a stifling lack of innovation in the genre. Does this do anythign different?

It comes with 8 courses, 18 holes each. No idea if there are any more, but I remember the days of my Dad buying a 386 PC so he could play Links 386, and you had to buy each course in a great big box, so it seems rather generous to me!

Yep, £24.95 for the Links 386 game and £14.95 for extra courses! I used to have to play a round then save it to floppy disk and give it to a mate next day for him to try to beat my scores. Man these kids don't know they are born etc etc.

We might need to create a second thread for iPhone 4S games at this rate, as it's that much more poweful than the iPhone 4 I can't see many devs making games that truly exploit both. From now on it's probably going to be iPhone 4 games (which 4S users can play) and games only for 4S and iPad 2.

I'm not sure why we would need another thread, aren't people already supposed to be specifying when a game needs specific hardware?

To be honest, I think we need to pull more games out of here into their own threads too - this thread moves really fast; it'll be even worse checking it every time it gets bumped only to see posts about games you can't necessarily play.
