I couldn't get on with tilt to live at all.

But then I am drunk. Nice Shiraz Grenache down from £9.99 to £5.99 in Tesco.

I'm yet to play it on the iPad, but I'd imagine it works better on the phone. It demands very precise control that I imagine isn't as easy to achieve on a bigger device.

And, well, I thought "Fruit Ninja is boring" was a pretty common view actually.

You're literally the first person I've ever heard with a bad word to say about it. Got any examples? (Oh, wait, I think it did get a middling score on Eurogamer.)

Only passingly related, incidentally, but I noticed this evening that Jetpack Joyride already has over 500,000 people on its leaderboard. Wow.

To be fair, I haven't played it since the first few days it came out and I understand it was updated since. But when it was released it was released with one mode, slicing fruit and avoiding bombs, and once I played it one time I had literally no desire to play it again because it just wasn't very exciting.

It may have improved a lot since, but the basic gameplay just didn't draw me in whatsoever so I've had no desire to install it again.

Stick with Tiny Wings - oozes cuteness, charm, and that 'just-one-more-go' effect

I've tried so hard to love Tiny Wings, I really have. Cuteness and charm it certainly doesn't lack, and I gave it a very fair shake, getting up to a 24x multiplier. But the game design is arbitrary and horrible. When landed with the need to reach the 4th island without using any Great Slides - a task about as enjoyable as a two-hour molar root canal, but without the health benefits - and gave up. Which means I can't compete with all the people who've somehow endured further, because I'm so handicapped by my inferior multiplier. At least Jetpack Joyride gives you a new objective every time you complete one, rather than locking you in place until you've beaten three specific ones at a time.

Erm, didn't they go bust? In fact I thought they took S&P off the store because of it?

Also, yeah, keep getting asked to log in on my mac. Looks a bit dodgy to me.

I hope not.

The games were off the app store for a while but then came back & I quickly snapped them up.

They are still there on the store, I thought it was some issue with the yearly licence renewal which is why they were taken off.

I gave up on Jetpack Joyride when it started becoming an arbitrary grind. Tasks you've done several times before just keep repeating themselves in ever higher numbers and my distance travelled record would just randomly be broken by a few lucky spins of the slot machine. It did eat up a few hours on the commute though so I can't really complain.

Rev Stu's bitterness is palpable.

It's quite sweet how he wades into this topic every few weeks, spouting bile like some lemon-sucking internet-warrior has-been, while everyone rolls their eyes and tries to ignore the tramp in the corner.

Seems like you're being the bile spitting tramp, with this seemingly random attack. All I've seen is Stu arguing with good reasons for the games he likes which is the reason we are all here surely?

In iOS news I've just started Puzzle Agent and seems pretty good so far.

I found Fruit Ninja boring as well but then I didn't like Angry Birds.

That's a fair point -I thought Stu's comments further up were far more bilious last night than they actually are (they aren't).

Sorry Stu.

I just finished the original, I'm going to get into Extended next week. It's challenging but never particularly frustrating, I got all of the Prisms on my first playthrough without too many diversions. You'd probably like it but it doesn't look nearly as good.

Edit- It's just been updated to use the new engine from Extended. I should've waited a week.

Haha, I just saw this last night. I'll give it a shot. Maybe I'll go back to Extended afterwards. ;)

Zok is correct when stating Tilt to Live is the best iPhone game.

That is all.

I'm wondering if Stu hasn't got it mixed up, actually. He mentions dodging balls...there is a ball dodging game on iPhone that uses the same mechanic as TTL, which gets old very fast. I can't remember what that's called, but you could imagine it being called Tilt To Live.

EDIT: And he mentions crappy control...Tilt To Live is the most perfectly calibrated and satisfyingly precise gyro game on the iPhone, as any schoolboy knows.

In iOS news I've just started Puzzle Agent and seems pretty good so far.

I finished it a couple of weeks ago. Good fun and an intriguing little story. Not worth £3 though as it's quite short. I got it for 69p so hoping Puzzle Agent 2 drops in price before i buy it.

Try Jim and Frank Myseries if you haven't already. It's another Prof Leyton lite. Still only 69p

I agree with the bolded part.

The challenge you're stuck on is really easy though. If you make sure you don't get any air at all you can still go really fast by holding on the down slopes, releasing on the up slopes and then holding again just before he takes off so that he hits the down slope of every dip, therefore preventing great slides. It's actually pretty cool when you start to get in a rhythm doing that, and really simple.
