another vote for Grand Prix Story, its very similar to Game Dev in structure which is no bad thing in my book, love the shonky little race representations, takes me back to watching Kevin Toms football manager on my speccy (they are quite a lot better than graphics in that but in this age of Autovista they are nice and retro)

also think Harmonix's Vidrythmn is worth a small purchase, quite limited but does turn out funny video&sound clips of what you record.

Machinarium being iPad 2 is most disappointing...

it is always disappointing when a developer does a lazy port instead of a proper job. Given that the game is a simple point and click adventure it should easily fit on iPad

Imagine if you'd bought a handheld console then a year later a new model came out and it meant that there were games you couldn't play on your original 500 pound purchase.

Last time I checked the iPad was a tablet computer , not a handheld console. The iPad is shit as a handheld console as it isn't as portable as the iPod touch or iPhone etc. I use mine as a tablet computer or as a home based console when TV is busy, so a bit like a Wii U :)

It's disgusting. I recall something else being iPad 2 only too. I think it was the forthcoming The Walking Dead adventures.

Apart from specific hardware requirements like a camera, the only reason any game is iPad2 specific is because of laziness on the side of the developer.

I mean, it's 2009 point and click game. We're not talking ground breaking from a technical stance.

Do you not think they would want to make it available to as many as possible?

I just think it's absurd to call a developer lazy when you've no idea whats going on under the hood. It may be a 2009 P+C, but that doesn't mean they've been lazy when it ran on systems much more powerful than the iPad. They may well have used the ram to have the game load faster by keeping more data available to hand*. That wouldn't be lazy developing, that would be giving a better experience by cutting out loading.

*note:I've not played any version so I'm just using logic here ;)

They may have a reason for being lazy about doing it (outlay vs reward etc), but that does not get around the fact that they could have made a version of the game that worked on iPad if they chose to do so.

It does not really bother me though, I've already got it on OSX so would not buy it on iPad anyway.. but it's a shame that it won't see a wider audience.
