I think everyone is taught French at least until GCSE time when they can change. I wasn't surprised they weren't fluent, that's fair enough, but I was surprisedhow unwilling they seemed to give speaking French a go. I haven't learnt French since I finished my GCSE (15 years ago!) but I'd certainly have a stab at it if I was over there.

Not true anymore, unless my school was special. Mine was the last year group to all get taught french up to year 9 or something, from then on they started with spanish and german in year 7 as well.

I actually thought he was Spanish, which was closer, I guess. :(

He was bankrolled by the Spanish king.

Also - modern historians such as the late Howard Zinn make it quite clear that Columbus was responsible for the deaths of hundreds of thousands of people in his quest for gold, so Columbus Day in the US has become less of a celebration in recent times.

Still, those pies looked tasty.

They did. I'm really pleased Helen and Tom managed to pull it off, but then they actually communicated and worked as a team which is always a winner.

Speaking of winners, who's going to do it? I think it's going to be Tom or Susan. This is the first series I've followed but Sugar seems to value people who actually have ideas and know-how. There's no question that Helen is efficient but I'm not convinced she has a winning idea and proposal for Lord Sugar, possibly the same for Jim - excellent talker and salesman, but has he got more to back it up?

Susan, already having her own business, knows what he's going to be looking for and Tom, with his inventing and ability to number crunch should also fit the bill I think..

I agree with that. There's a possibility that Jim or Helen will pull out a pretty storming idea (tbh I think that's more likely than that Susan will have something good besides expanding her current business). I'm surprised that Susan's still in to be honest, she's just seemed pretty incompetent in a number of tasks: obviously not as much as some of her peers, though.

I reckon Tom might not have much of a business plan but possibly could have an invention that Sugar will want a piece of.

Susan's done well when she has had a chance though and hasn't been battled constantly by others. From what we've seen, I'm not sure if her not getting along with other people is her being difficult or them finding it difficult to accept her because of her age. The hotel sourcing task for example she excelled in, and the rubbish task comes to mind because she got the right idea whilst Zoe thought she was being an absolute twit. There've been other times - like the cosmetic selling thing - that she's made mistakes, but they all have.

Will be fun to watch anyway. Yay it's tomorrow! :omg:

I think it'll be Susan. Despite being a total ditz at times, Sugar seems to like her and her (ahem) balls. And the fact she's so young, practically brought herself up and operates her own business probably resonates quite a lot with him.

Jim is going to try and bullshit his way through the interviews, and will likely get called out on every single one for it. Tom will probably end up getting twisted up and confusing himself in circles as to what he can offer. And I think Helen, despite cleary having a certain something, will fall short, most likely her lack of business accumen being questioned.

I think you're probably right. Tom is the guy in the teaser who is told that his business plan is full of holes (based on the small glimpse of blue suit you can see - Jim is in grey) and Jim is style over substance. Helen I think has had her profile raised due to a couple of big pitches she won. I've found her quite anonymous in a lot of tasks although she did do well with the pies (though we don't know how much of that aided by Tom).

Susan is the best of a mediocre bunch - she says some idiotic things and is a child at times, but she has started a business and done well for herself. I think she'd need a lot of support and in that respect any kind of follow-up show 6 months down the line would be good to see - though we don't ever really get those, sadly.
