MS: Technology in unannounced 360 exclusives will 'far surpass' anything to date/KZ2

While those Crysis pics are obviously nice looking, what does it mean? Not a lot really.

Besides, you could make better with Terragen.

I just googled terragen, from what I can see that just creates a static render? Not a terribly fair comparison to a real time game-engine rendered image.

I've not been keeping up to speed on PC developments for at least 8 years now, what sort of spec would you need to get Crysis up and running like those screenies from earlier?

3Ghz+ Core2 CPU and an exceedingly expensive gfx card (4870x2/GTX295)

My current setup cost about a grand excluding display, obviously not something for most people.

I love the hypocrisy of mocking people's intelligence for not producing an adequate rebuttal to your 'argument', when said argument basically amounts to "YEH well my m8 played crysis and he sed that KZ2 looks as gud u nob."

Paraphrasing ever so slightly, there. Thought not by much, unfortunately.

I've played quite a bit of Killzone 2, it has some amazing effects and is absolutely incredible for a console game, but those seriously are on another level altogether. I think anyone can look at those and know we won't see anything like that on a console this gen.

I don't really consider myself a graphics whore, but those look stunning. I don't suppose I'm going to get that running on my GeForce 9600 GT 512MB GDDR3 card am I?

It'll run fine on that, but you'll need to get a balance between Normal and High settings in the options menu. ;) It's the motion blur and volumetric stuff that kills performance. It still looks lovely lovely (and is obviously huuuuge) even on Normal settings.
